PRODUCT FEATURES
Single-function valve cartridge controls the temperature at full output flow. Monitors water pressure to balance temperature. All Delta® tub and shower faucets are engineered to keep the water temperature within a safe ±3.6° F (±1.7° C)*. This technology makes sure your family doesn’t experience a sudden and possibly unsafe change in water temperature as a result of running water elsewhere, such as using a dishwasher, flushing a toilet or running a washing machine. The valve cartridge features an adjustable handle limit stop that, when properly set, helps ensure the handle cannot be turned to a position that is too hot for comfort*. The handle limit stop's integrated design allows easy adjustment via pull and turn. Easily replaced seals make maintenance a snap.
This cartridge is included with tub and shower trim packages.
*Requires inlet water temperature be set correctly. May require seasonal adjustments.

Design has one weak component and prone to leak.
My house, built in 2007, was fitted by the builder with delta faucets throughout. Several have leaked. All the leaks are from the springs getting weak. For example tub cartridge started to leak. I bought a new one to replace the old and I suspect people are buying a new cartidge to remove the springs and replace with their old spings then return to the store. All the cartidges that were availble to buy had been opened before me. I suspect this because the new cartidge leaked like my old one and after close inspection looks like it was never installed. So, to stop the leak I used needle nosed pliers to spread out the old springs, put them into the new cartridge and the leak stopped. I suggest Delta make the springs available as a separate item. Afterall, the springs are the weak component in the whole design.

Delta faucet cartridge
The part sent did not fit into the body of the shower faucet cemented into my shower wall. I have returned two parts so far. Neither part was the right one. However, I am still trying and sent a picture the last time.

I am happy all the way around. Part worked fine and with very easy installation. The only issue I had was that I ordered the wrong valve the first time. Faucet Dircet handled ther return of the part and the Customer Service at the highest level.

This valve in the catalog does not list dimensions of the critical areas. Most faucet manufacturers, do not list the model number on their valves, and so when you try to order a repair part, you are guessing. Then when you open the package to set the old one next to the new one to insure proper dimensions and fit up, you can no longer return the product,

Delta RP46074 (Part)
outdoor shower valve froze during extreme cold weather and insides of valve cracked and split open. part was very easy to change out, pull old part out and slip in new part assembly. it was that easy. the only thing i did not like is the part is made of plastic or i would have rated it a 5 instead of 4. thanks for the help on the phone when i ordered!

Installing RP46074
I was not able to get the greased O-rings to slide into their places in the valve body with my bare hands. Fortunately I was able to get a furniture clamp behind the valve body and, with a block of wood on the front, it slipped right in to place. Actually it went slightly too far and I had to pull it out a little.

I have the classic Monitor 13 series shower assembly and my shower was installed in 1999 which cartridge do I use? RP46074 or RP19804? Thank you.

You will need the RP19804 valve cartridge. The RP46074 valve cartridge is for 13/14 series tub/showers that were manufactured after March of " 2006".

mine is 20 + years old. has the temp adjuster changed
I have a brass ring with teeth around the interior. A second piece that is nylon (?) that interfaces with the brass ring for adjusting temp. Is the #RP46074 replacing mine ?

Thank you for your question. 1400 series units manufactured prior to 2006 will use the RP19804 cartrdidge. You will find the redesigned rotational limit stop on this cartridge as well.

what valves do i buy to make two separate shower handles with each handle having volumn control. i have a shower head but no tub, and i do not like
the single valve in the center of the wall. do i use a solid brass wall mount, or do you have valves that can control each handle's water volume? Would a transfer valve work?

How can I make the water hotter with this cartridge, since it's not as hot as the old cartridge?
Thank you for your question, Stephen! Our cartridges include a Rotational Limit Stop that limits the amount of hot water allowed to mix into the valve and needs to be set at the time of installation. Information on adjusting this setting can be found on Step 3, Page 7 of the Maintenance and Installation manual below.

I need the best temperature regulating cartridge for a shower
I installed the Delta MultiChoice Universal Rough In valve R10000-UNBX during the rough-in of our bathroom and need to purchase a cartridge that will keep temperature as steady as possible. It is a single family dwelling without big pressure swings.

Thank you for your question. The valve cartridge comes with the new trim kit that you pick. This cartridge, RP46074, comes with our T14 series trim. This valve cartridge is pressure balanced.

Can this cartridge be used with the T17097ss shower faucet?
Thank you for your question, John G! RP46074 is a 13/14 series MultiChoice cartridge. A current 17 series trim requires RP46463 instead.

Earlier today I ran across a page on your site that shows the different cartridges, but cannot find it no matter what! (Your website is to hard to navigate!) Can you please tell me exactly what the difference is between cartridge series 13 and 14
Thank you for your question, Randy! The 13 and 14 series have the same functionality, and take the same valve cartridges. The 13 series valve trims have a traditional design, and are all part of the Classic collection. The 14 series valve trims have a more contemporary design, and correspond to several Delta bathroom collection styles. The RP46074 cartridge is used with Delta 13 and 14 series valve trims, that have a valve body that was installed after 2006.

What is the maximun flow rate for the shower using a RP46074 cartridge at 60psi city water pressure.

Thank you for your question. The flow rate for the shower head will be determined by the shower head itself, not the valve body. We have shower heads that range from 1.5-2.5 gpm flow rate. Here is a link to our shower head and hand showers available:
