PRODUCT FEATURES
Dual-function valve cartridge maintains a consistent water temperature from one shower to the next. Monitors water pressure to balance temperature. All Delta tub and shower faucets are engineered to keep the water temperature within a safe ±3.6° F (±1.7° C)*. This technology makes sure your family doesn’t experience a sudden and possibly unsafe change in water temperature as a result of running water elsewhere, such as using a dishwasher, flushing a toilet or running a washing machine. The valve cartridge features an adjustable handle limit stop that, when properly set, helps ensure the handle cannot be turned to a position that is too hot for comfort*. Easily replaced seals make maintenance a snap. This cartridge is included with tub and shower trim packages. *Requires inlet water temperature be set correctly. May require seasonal adjustments.
  • Monitor® dual-function pressure balance cartridge
  • Use with MultiChoice® 1300/1400 Series tub & showers produced after March 2006
  • Allows for separate volume and temperature control

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Wasn't what I needed I bought this based off of what the person told me I needed- I needed a whole different part. Now I have to figure out how to return it, if i even can.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Recommended Cartridge for fixture did not work The cartridge stop allowed my valve handle to over-travel going beyond the shutoff point which allowed for small stream when the handle was fully closed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unfortunately leaks when valve closed Just installed this 2 months ago & experienced the same constant drip issue with Trinsic rain can. Can you please contact me & offer a solution?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Destroys itself by being used. I have major complaints about the Delta 17 series cartridge RP46463. Absolutely one of the worst plumbing products I have ever used. If the contractors installed any other cartridge I would never had to order so many replacement parts. Screws back out constantly, allowing the assembly to fall apart and destroy the teeth. I have replaced 2 of these in less than a year of their installation. Horrible product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Replaced 3x in 7 years! I have had to replace this valve now three times since it was originally installed 7 years ago because it is randomly drips/releases water. My water bill has skyrocketed, which led to me putting a bucket under the faucet in the tub only to see that it was filling up! Also, it is very difficult to get it to allow hot enough water for a bath -- it is fine for showers but for a bath I want hotter water. It is nearly impossible to get the setting to allow hotter water (and, no, it is not a problem with my water heater).

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I looked at the party supposed to be in the 1700 series why I needed a 1700 series but it was 1717 series so I didn’t understand what was the difference until I got the product so I was upset It was the wrong part so I don’t know what to do with it

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dripping rain head. Less then a year old on a new shower and a constant drip. Nothing but a headache.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from NOT Universal - beware!!!! This replacement valve is NOT a Universal fit as is stated. I just spent $100 for nothing! I will be contacting the company. If you have a 17 or 1700 series shower and it is leaking, chances are you just need to replace the seat springs and seals. This cartridge does not fit because it has two triangular notches on either side that should fit flat into the shower receptacle stem, but mine has a one sided square notch, which means this one cannot seat properly in the stem. My shower is circa 2004??? Not happy.

Q&A

Is the cartridge RP46463 interchangeable with other delta cartridges?

Asked by: Kyle
Hello Kyle, Thank you for your question. We are happy to help! If a different cartridge is used in the MultiChoice valve, the handle and trim kit would also need to be changed. The Delta RP46463 cartridge would be used in a 17 series faucet trim. Other cartridge part numbers would not work with a 17 series trim kit. You can replace the 17 series trim and cartridge with a 13/14 series (includes RP46074 cartridge) or 17T series (includes RP47201 cartridge) trim without changing the MultiChoice valve rough. Best regards, Bryan

I don’t know if the rough valve is pre-2005 so not sure which cartridge to use. Is there a date stamped on the host valve? Thanks! It’s a series 1700

Asked by: Deepcdvr
Hello Deepcdvr! Thank you for your question. I am happy to help. There would not be a date stamped on the valve. The easiest way to determine the correct cartridge to use is by looking at the color of the cap on the cartridge. If the cap is white you would use RP32104 (pre-2005). If it is grey you would use rp46463 (post 2005). Best Regards, Antoine

I think my shower cartridge is a series 17, it looks very similar but mine is made out of white plastic instead of grey. How can I make sure I buy the right model? I could send you a picture.

Asked by: Rainman

Does the replacement cartridge RP46463 fit all models for series 17/17T MultiChoice? And how long should these last?

How can I clear trash from this RP 46463 valve?

Asked by: Big JIM
Hi Big JIM, Thank you for your question about the Delta Faucet RP46463. You can remove the cartridge, clean any trapped debris that is on the bottom of the cartridge, and clean the removable adapter behind the cartridge. Or the adapter can be replaced with RP46073 if the rubber parts are worn or damaged. Please reach out with any additional questions! Best Regards, Bryan Digital Communications Specialist

My Delta shower only single handle valve is dripping from the shower head, my cartridge is dark grey. Will the 17 universal cartridge work as a replacement? I purchased the shower valve in 2014.

Asked by: Mickey
Hi Mickey, Thanks so much for contacting Delta Faucet Company about RP46463! Our post 2006 shower cartridge in dark gray is either for a T13/14 or T17 series. I would verify if the single handle controls volume and temperature, then it's a T13/14 which would need the RP46074. If the handle has a temperature control in addition to the volume control handle, then it's a T17 and the RP46463 would be correct. Please contact us directly if you have any questions or need additional assistance. Best Regards, Nicole Digital Communications Specialist

We have a delta shower. It's the series 17 cartridge. What is the warranty on the shower? Our shower just started leaking.

Asked by: DeWayne
Hi DeWayne, Thanks so much for contacting Delta Faucet Company! Our products have a Limited Lifetime Warranty that covers parts (other than electronic parts and batteries) and finishes of Delta® faucets purchased from authorized Delta sellers to the original consumer purchaser to be free from defects in material and workmanship for as long as the original consumer purchaser owns the home in which the faucet was first installed. I have included a link below for the warranty information. https://www.deltafaucet.com/service-parts/warranty It is possible that flushing the product could resolve this issue. To do this, turn off the water supplies, remove the cartridge, and turn the supplies back on for one minute. Please make sure that you are getting good flow through both the hot and cold sides while flushing. You can also shake the cartridge back and forth to make sure the back half of the cartridge rattles. This means that the pressure-balancing spool is moving freely, as it should. If you would like installation help, you may contact our residential warranty line directly at 800-345-3358 (prompt 2, then 4). We also have how-to videos on our website and on our YouTube channel. https://www.deltafaucet.com/service-parts/how-to-videos Please reach out with further questions! For replacing a part of Delta 17, instead of ordering  RP46463 can I just get the adapter:   attaches to the valve body with a screw, O-rings on the back, and spring/seats on the front. I have a slow leak and  think the cartridge is fine.

Asked by: Kenno
Hi Kenno, Thank you for your question about the Delta Faucet RP46463 17 series cartridge. Yes, a slow leak is likely caused by wear to the rubber seats or seals. We recommend replacing the RP46073 adapter with the rubber parts behind the cartridge. The new adapter doesn't need a screw, but it is interchangeable with the older adapter. https://www.deltafaucet.com/parts/product/RP46073.html Please reach out with any additional questions!
