PRODUCT FEATURES
Dual-function valve cartridge maintains a consistent water temperature from one shower to the next. Monitors water pressure to balance temperature. All Delta tub and shower faucets are engineered to keep the water temperature within a safe ±3.6° F (±1.7° C)*. This technology makes sure your family doesn’t experience a sudden and possibly unsafe change in water temperature as a result of running water elsewhere, such as using a dishwasher, flushing a toilet or running a washing machine. The valve cartridge features an adjustable handle limit stop that, when properly set, helps ensure the handle cannot be turned to a position that is too hot for comfort*. Easily replaced seals make maintenance a snap.
This cartridge is included with tub and shower trim packages.
*Requires inlet water temperature be set correctly. May require seasonal adjustments.

Love Ferguson Home! Hate this cartridge rp46463
I installed this about 2-3 years ago. From the beginning, when I turned off the shower, I had to pull the handle back slightly from the off position so it wouldn't leak. Now it leaks all the time! Too expensive to change the brain of the shower!

Recommended Cartridge for fixture did not work
The cartridge stop allowed my valve handle to over-travel going beyond the shutoff point which allowed for small stream when the handle was fully closed.

Destroys itself by being used.
I have major complaints about the Delta 17 series cartridge RP46463. Absolutely one of the worst plumbing products I have ever used. If the contractors installed any other cartridge I would never had to order so many replacement parts. Screws back out constantly, allowing the assembly to fall apart and destroy the teeth. I have replaced 2 of these in less than a year of their installation. Horrible product.

Replaced 3x in 7 years!
I have had to replace this valve now three times since it was originally installed 7 years ago because it is randomly drips/releases water. My water bill has skyrocketed, which led to me putting a bucket under the faucet in the tub only to see that it was filling up! Also, it is very difficult to get it to allow hot enough water for a bath -- it is fine for showers but for a bath I want hotter water. It is nearly impossible to get the setting to allow hotter water (and, no, it is not a problem with my water heater).

I looked at the party supposed to be in the 1700 series why I needed a 1700 series but it was 1717 series so I didn’t understand what was the difference until I got the product so I was upset
It was the wrong part so I don’t know what to do with it

Carlisle 174939-SS-I: Can I swap the RP46463 cartridge it comes with, with a RP47201 17T TempAssure Cartridge?
The Carlisle is based on the Monitor Series, complete retail package I bought at a retail store.
Looking at the TempAssure series, it seems to do a better job of temp control, at least from my understanding reading up on it.
Is it possible to use a 17T TempAssure Cartridge with the Carlisle trim instead of the Monitor cartridge it comes with?
I understand the Carlisle rough that comes in the box, is the same rough the 17T TempAssure uses (such as what the Rizu, Addison, and others have), and appears swappable.
Or does the Carlisle trim not support the 17T cartridge?
The Carlisle Monitor unit parts list shows it comes with the RP46463 cartridge.
The Addison and Rizu with TempAssure (and other TempAssure units), and I'm only using these as an example for comparison, show they use the RP47201 cartridge.
Is it possible to use a RP47201 cartridge in the Carlisle without purchasing different trim?
This is for a new installation changing the 3 knob style to a single style to support a family member with Accessibility requirements. I am not a plumber, nor do I have experience in installations. I will have a qualified plumber install and perform all the work.
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # 174939-SS-I is installed with the R10000-UNBX rough in valve. Because of this multi-choice valve, you are able to change your trim as you see fit. Delta Faucet part # RP47201 is interchangeable with the RP46463 cartridge to make this a thermostatic valve.

Can I use a rp46463 delta cartridge with a 1400 series trim kit
Thank you for your question, Viper6292! The RP46463 cartridge assembly is responsible, for regulating the water flow and temperature on Delta 17 series shower trims. This part will not work with a single function 1400 series handle.

what is the flow rate of the T17 verses the T17T series
Hi Chris,
Thank you for your question. With a standard MultiChoice rough-in valve, the 17 series will get about 5.6 gpm from the shower port at 60 PSI. The 17T series will get 7.0 gpm in the same shower.
With a High Flow version of the MultiChoice valve, at 60 PSI the 17 series will get a maximum flow of about 6.7 gpm and the 17T series will get about 9.4 gpm from the shower port.

I have model T17053-SS and it's leaking from the shower head when it's closed. How do I know if I need to replace the whole cartridge (RP46463) or just the adapter (RP46073). Also I purchased it on 11/26/14. Is this part under covered by warranty?

Thank you for your question, and I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing a leak from your Delta faucet. The valve cartridge assembly is only needed if you're having flow or temperature issues. We recommend to replace just the adapter assembly, RP46073, for the T17053-SS, if your faucet leaks when the unit is off.

When the old cartridge is removed the adaptor seems to be wedged in place. How do I remove it?
Hi Linda, Thank you for your question. You may have the older version (pre April 2014) of the adapter that has a small screw that holds the adapter into the valve body. Once the screw is removed you should be able to pry/pull the adapter out. You will not need to reinstall the screw with the new adapter.

Can you replace cartridge assembly RP46074 with RP46463
I have a FOUNDATIONSMonitor® 13 Series Shower Trim, with a cartridge assembly of RP46074. Can I install the cartridge assembly RP46463 in this existing housing, without replacing the entire rough behind the wall. Thanks.
Hi Mizzou Tigers, Thank you for your question. The RP46463 cartridge will fit your existing rough, but your 13 series shower trim is not compatible with the dual function cartridge. The RP46074 is the correct cartridge to use in a 13 series faucet. The RP46463 cartridge is used with the 17 series trims that offer temperature and volume control.

NEED TO REVERSA HOT &COLD

Too correct your hot and cold reversal issue, please follow the steps below:
First shut off the water supply to the faucet.
Remove the sleeve, bonnet ring and cartridge. Pull the top cap from the front of the cartridge and rotate it 180 degrees or one half turn. Reinstall the cap back onto the cartridge.
Reinstall the cartridge making sure that the key is fully engaged with the slot in the brass body.
Reinstall the bonnet and sleeve and also make sure that the O-Ring is behind the groove on the brass valve body.
Reinstall the handle assembly and temperature dial. When you now turn the temperature dial counter clockwise, the temperature of the water should get hotter.

Are there any shower faucets available to replace a single handle with a hot/cold adjustment on the same handle?
Hi Jocko, Thank you for your question. The age of the faucet is the determining factor to answer your question. If your current faucet is newer than February 2006 and has our R10000 Multichoice universal rough you will be able to change from a basic single handle that only controls water temperature to a single handle that controls water temperature and volume. You would simply have to order a new 17 series trim.
If the faucet is older than February 2006 the faucet cannot be upgraded to the dual function.

Replacing old Delta monitor series trim kit with Delta T17292 shower trim kit. The adapter assembly that goes behind RP46463 cartridge does not exactly match rough-in valve. The C/L spacing (about 0.75") between hot-cold feed holes is smaller than valve spacing (about 1"). Is there a different adapter that will solve this mis-match?
Hi Anne, Thank you for your question. The cartridge that came in the new trim kit RP46463 will not fit into your old valve body in the wall. You will have to keep your old cartridge or order a new RP32104. All the exterior parts will fit. This applies if your faucet is older than 2006.

Low pressure from shower head after replacing cartridge RP46463
Both cartridge & adapter were replace, since shower was leaking. Now leaking is fixed, but pressure is extremely low when shower is turned on. I assembled and disassembled this 10x or more to see if their is restriction, but did not find any.
One thing I noticed, after water is shut off, when removing cartrdge their is a lot of pressure build up when this is removed and I do get soaked. Let me know if I'm doing something wrong during installation.

Hi Rsijder, Thank you for your question. We would recommend removing the showerhead itself and turning on the faucet to check flow and flush the line to the showerhead. Make sure that the debris screen in the showerhead is clean. To rule out the cartridge as the problem we recommend installing the RP46078 test plug and turning on the water supply to the faucet to check flow. If everything alse checks out the cartridge would need to be replaced.

What is the difference between RP32104 and RP46463 replacement cartridges for the series 17? Do they both hold constant temperature regardless of water flow volume?
Thank you for your question, Bill! The RP32104 is the cartridge for the older 1700 series whereas the RP46463 is meant for the newer multichoice 17 series. Both cartridges work the same way to maintain water temperature by accommodating for sudden changes in pressure, however they work with different parts in the valve body and you will need to refer to manual for the correct cartridge. The escutcheon plate may also indicate if this is a 1700 or T17 series. I tried to install RP46463 into cartridge holder after I replace new springs and seats for water leaking.
There are two triangle projections on top of metal holder but cartridge has only one hollow to joint.
Therefore, I could not tight cartridge to holder perfectly.
Is there any way to hold tight?

Hi Kiyo, Thank you for your question. It sounds like you have a cartridge with 1 square tab on the side to go with your brass valve body in the wall with 2 triangular notches. If this is correct then you have cartridge RP32104 which will not work. You would need RP46463 to match the valve in the wall. If the brass valve body in the wall has 1 square notch then you will need the RP32104 cartridge to make the repair.

For this cartridge, is there a maximum PSI within the house until the adapter blows?
I was informed that if the water pressure in the house is too great, the pressure could cause the springs in the adapter to blow out? Is there a rating for this cartridge assembly? My house water pressure is at 100 right now (from the street)
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # RP46463 is normally suggested to have 80 psi when using it. However, we have tested it to higher psi and 100 should be fine. You might consider getting a power reducer if the pressure is too strong for you in the shower.

i have a valve body that fits a 13 series cartridge. Is there an adaptor that can be used to convert this to accomodate a 17 series cartridge
I bought a new shower trim set and it is a new delta 17 series. The old delta unit is a 13 series. Is there an adaptor that can be placed inside the valve body to convert it to fir the 17 series, or does the entire valve body need to be changed

Thank you for your question. If your original unit was manufactured prior to September of 2006 or has a cartridge with a white cap, the valve will not accept a 17 series cartridge. We do not make an adapter to convert it.
If it was manufactured after Sept. 2006 and has a gray cap, any T13/14, T17 or T17T trim will work with the valve body.

I have a Delta Monitor series 1700 and I am pretty sure it is approximately 17 years old...currently when the valve is turned off, the tub faucet leaks (drips). I Will the RP46463 fix the problem or is there another recommended part to fix the leak?

Can this cartridge be used to replace an RP19804 in order to convert a 1300 series shower into a 1700 series shower?
Thank you for your question. If you have Delta Faucet model # RP19804 which has a white cap installed in your shower now, you will not be able to upgrade to the model # RP46463. This model is for our multi-choice valves. If your cartridge has a gray cap, then it is an RP46074, and is a multi-choice valve. If you have this valve, you can upgrade to the 1700 series valve.

How to tell if it's a 17 Series or 1700 Series?
The tub faucet is leaking when not in use so I think it’s time to replace the Cartridge Assembly. However I'm wondering which type of Cartridge Assembly I should purchase -- RP46463 (for 17 Series) or RP32104 (for 1700 Series). I don't know when the previous owner of the house installed it, and the pictures I found (on internet) of these two types look all the same.

Thank you for your question. If your current Delta 1824-74 Shower faucet is newer than February 2006, then it uses the RP46463 cartridge. If your current faucet is older then February 2006 and your original cartridge is white, you would need the RP32104 cartridge assembly.

Hi. The old owners installed the 17 series. We think they used RP46463 in the wall. We want to install a Delta In2ition which says it requires a multi choice universal rough valve. Is the Intuition compatible with the valve they used for the 17 series?

Thank you for your question, hipines! Yes, the RP46463 Cartridge Assembly will include the adapter and seals. The RP46073 Adapter Assembly is available individually as well and is usually the only part needed to resolve a leak in the off position.
