PRODUCT FEATURES
Dual-function valve cartridge maintains a consistent water temperature from one shower to the next. Monitors water pressure to balance temperature. All Delta tub and shower faucets are engineered to keep the water temperature within a safe ±3.6° F (±1.7° C)*. This technology makes sure your family doesn’t experience a sudden and possibly unsafe change in water temperature as a result of running water elsewhere, such as using a dishwasher, flushing a toilet or running a washing machine. The valve cartridge features an adjustable handle limit stop that, when properly set, helps ensure the handle cannot be turned to a position that is too hot for comfort*. Easily replaced seals make maintenance a snap.
This cartridge is included with tub and shower trim packages.
*Requires inlet water temperature be set correctly. May require seasonal adjustments.

Love Ferguson Home! Hate this cartridge rp46463
I installed this about 2-3 years ago. From the beginning, when I turned off the shower, I had to pull the handle back slightly from the off position so it wouldn't leak. Now it leaks all the time! Too expensive to change the brain of the shower!

Recommended Cartridge for fixture did not work
The cartridge stop allowed my valve handle to over-travel going beyond the shutoff point which allowed for small stream when the handle was fully closed.

Destroys itself by being used.
I have major complaints about the Delta 17 series cartridge RP46463. Absolutely one of the worst plumbing products I have ever used. If the contractors installed any other cartridge I would never had to order so many replacement parts. Screws back out constantly, allowing the assembly to fall apart and destroy the teeth. I have replaced 2 of these in less than a year of their installation. Horrible product.

Replaced 3x in 7 years!
I have had to replace this valve now three times since it was originally installed 7 years ago because it is randomly drips/releases water. My water bill has skyrocketed, which led to me putting a bucket under the faucet in the tub only to see that it was filling up! Also, it is very difficult to get it to allow hot enough water for a bath -- it is fine for showers but for a bath I want hotter water. It is nearly impossible to get the setting to allow hotter water (and, no, it is not a problem with my water heater).

I looked at the party supposed to be in the 1700 series why I needed a 1700 series but it was 1717 series so I didn’t understand what was the difference until I got the product so I was upset
It was the wrong part so I don’t know what to do with it

how does the cartridge work with the shower handle? does the cartridge turn the shower on/off?or just the handle?
Thank you for your question, Keith! The valve assembly cartridge contains a mixing chamber with two inlet ports for hot and cold water to enter. When the handle is turned, it also turn the cartridge and opens the valves to allow a mixture of water inside. The temperature knob will then give further control of the preferred temperature.

Low pressure from shower head after replacing cartridge RP46463
I replaced both the cartridge & plastic adapter, now flow coming out of shower head is very low.
Hi Rsijder, Thank you for your question. We would recommend removing the showerhead itself and turning on the faucet to check flow and flush the line to the showerhead. Make sure that the debris screen in the showerhead is clean. To rule out the cartridge as the problem we recommend installing the RP46078 test plug and turning on the water supply to the faucet to check flow. If everything alse checks out the cartridge would need to be replaced.

Does this part work for the 1300/1400 series from a home built in 1999?
My home was built in 1999 using nothing but Delta products. All have held up extremely well except for my upstairs bathtub faucet which ironically is the one used the least. It began leaking profusely from the handle and when I removed it, the cap was cracked and broken in two different places. Since it was builder installed, I do not have part numbers. I went to a plumbing supply company and they provided me with replacement part #RP46463 but it says for cartridges made after 2005. I am trying to determine if this part will work for my faucet before calling a plumber to install it. Thanks.

Delta part #RP46463 is for our 1700 Multichoice valves. The part we will recommend to you for a 1300/1400 series (circa 1999) is Delta part #RP19804.

How do I remove old cartridge rp32104
Thank you for your question, Bart757! The RP32104 cartridge can be removed once the water is turned off to the room, unit or home. The bonnet nut that holds the cartridge in place must first be unscrewed counter clockwise and then the cartridge will pull straight out. Please know that if you have an older 1300/1400 series valve body, the newer Multichoice 13/14 series cartridge, as well as the 17 series cartridge RP46463 will not fit into this valve body.

Can I Convert 1400 to 1700 without rough in
My home was build in 2000 it got a delta 1400 series single knob in the shower. I want an temperature control upgrade t17053 look without getting a rough in kit is that possible. I seen a video all I need was a different cartridge kit

In March of "2006" we manufactured a universal valve body model R10000-UN that allows any of our current trims to interchange. If you have the universal valve you will be able to change your 13/1400 series with one control for volume and temperature to our 17 series that has separate volume and temperature control. However, your unit was manufactured prior to March of "2006" you have an older valve body and will not be able to change your trim to our dual control trim. You will only be able to use any current T13 or T14 series trim but will not be able to use the new universal valve cartridge that comes with the new trims.

Thank you for your question, Darko! Unfortunately, we do not have a video for installing the RP46463 valve cartridge assembly, at this time. Turn off water supplies. Remove the cover bonnet nut from the body. Insert adapter assembly into valve body. Make sure the adapter assembly is correctly positioned and is pressed all the way down inside body. Remove the retainer from the adapter. Rotate cartridge so the words “HOT SIDE” appear on the left. Insert cartridge assembly into valve body. Make sure the key on the cartridge is fully engaged with the slot in the brass body. Slide bonnet nut over the cartridge and thread onto the body. Hand tighten the bonnet securely. What's the rough in valve for cartridge RP32104?
I have an older model shower (faucet & head), Delta Monitor 1700 series, that uses RP32104 cartridge. Recently I found out that the rough in valve needs replacement.
What is the rough in valve for my cartridge?
Hi Fari, Thank you for your question. The rough in valve used on your 1700 series faucet is no longer available. The replacement rough that can be used with your existing trim would be the R10000. You will also need to order the RP46463 cartridge to work in the new rough in.

Water flow stop position incorrect
I have to turn the volume control back 10 degrees or so to stop it dripping. If the cartridge needs to be re-installed, are special tools needed to extract it? I have downloaded the Installation Guide Owner's manual, but it is not clear to me how to correct my problem. The unit was installed about a year ago and has been used only occasionally. I noticed just a few weeks ago that it was dripping quite significantly when turned in the fully off position.

Adapt RP46463 for new single handle valve trim kit (Trinsic)
I have the Monitor series 2 handle valve (1999 home). The current cartridge is RP46463. I want to change to a single handle 1400 series handle and trim (trinsic). The RP19804 does not fit in my 1999 rough in valve body. Is there an adapter so I can use my RP46463 on a single handle valve and trim kit or is there another cartridge that will work with my rough in and operate my new single handle 1400 series trinsic trim kit? See pictures please.
Hi Rob, Thank you for your question. Unfortunately there is not a way to convert your 1999 1700 series faucet that uses the RP32104 cartridge to a new single function trim or cartridge. The entire faucet including the rough in valve would have to be replaced.
Our faucets manufactured since February 2006 use the R10000 multi-choice universal rough that would allow you to switch between the T13/T14 single handle trims and the T17 trims that allow control over both temperature and volume.

Needing new faucet
I am wanting to upgrade our shower faucets in the house. They all currently have the RP32104 cartridge installed. I am needing to know if I can replace that cartridge with any other models in order to update our shower fixtures. Was wondering if I can just install the RP46463 and buy new faucet?
Hi J.R., Thank you for your question. The RP32104 cartridge was/is used on our 1700 series faucets. That is the only cartridge that will fit your existing rough in valve. You can order one of our new 17 series trims to work with your existing rough. The new trim will ship with a RP46463 cartridge. This cartridge will not fit your existing rough, you will continue to use the existing cartridge or order a new RP32104.

R10000-UNBX gpm
We have a brand new house. I have a universal valve R10000-UNBX and the 17 series faucet with a RP46463 cartridge. I read the specs that say i should have "60 PSI will give you 6.3 gpm to the tub spout and 6.04 gpm to the showerhead".
i have 80 psi, the tub is 3 gpm and the shower 2 gpm.
i took the spout off and the bare pipe is 3gpm.
My tankless water heater shuts off due to the pressure balancing valve, or i think that is what is happening. How do i get the 6gpm you claim should be coming through this valve?

Thank you for your question. Usually with tankless water heaters that are not kicking on to produce the water that you require, we recommend that you turn the water heater slightly to allow it to kick on more frequently.

Contractor just installed new shower using the Series 17. When I turn the water on hot and cold are reversed.
When I move the temperature control to the left for hot it becomes cold and vice versa. Thanks.
Hi Mike, Thank you for your question. The RP46463 cartridge in your 17 series faucet is installed upside down. Removing the cartridge, rotating it 180 degrees and reinstalling the cartridge should solve your issue. Make sure the words "hot side" on the cartridge match up with your hot water supply side.

All of a sudden I have to increase the temp selectoe to achieve the same temp I had with the lever at the mid point. The supply temp has not changed.
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # RP46463 can be affected by the temperature of your ground water coming into your house. Your rotational limt stop may need adjusting from time to time due to the change in seasons.
Included here are the maintenance and installation instructions for adjusting your rotational limit stop to allow more hot water to come through your valve. The directions are on page 9.

RP46463 vs RP32104 compatible?
I have an RP46463 that is leaking out of shower head constantly. No one seems to carry the RP46463 but the RP32104 is readily available. The box says compatible with 1700 series. The cartidge looks similar without the hot and cold seals part.
Hi Zac, Thank you for your question. The RP46463 and the RP32104 are not interchangeable. The RP32104 was used in our 1700 series faucets until February 2006. Our multichoice universal rough in was introduced in February 2006 and the 17 series faucets since that time have used the RP46463. For a 17 series shower dripping while off, we recommend replacing the adapter RP46073. The rubber seats can wear or be damaged over time. If the issue remains, the RP46463 cartridge may need to be replaced.
