The TempAssure® thermostatic cartridge allow precise control of your shower temperature. The cartridge functions like a thermostat to precisely measure and control the water temperature. All Delta® tub and shower faucets are engineered to keep the water temperature within a safe ±3.6° F (±1.7° C)*. This technology makes sure your family doesn’t experience a sudden and possibly unsafe change in water temperature as a result of running water elsewhere, such as using a dishwasher, flushing a toilet or running a washing machine. Delta thermostatic tub and shower faucets are built with TempAssure® valves. The valve features an adjustable handle limit stop that, when properly set, helps ensure the handle cannot be turned to a position that is too hot for comfort. *Requires inlet water temperature be set correctly. Rated 1 out of 5 by from PRODUCTS THAT FAIL, HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE DO NOT PURCHASE THIS OR ANY ITEM THAT CONTAINS THIS PIECE. Lost hot water and water pressure less than three years after installing in a new build home. Took multiple phone calls (and very long wait times) to get the item replaced under warranty. Except I still haven't received the replacement, the website shows that the status is shipped but has no tracking information, and a phone customer service rep has told me that is incorrect and it has not shipped. I was told I could choose to purchase the item on my own (nearly $500), and then "request" reimbursement but I would not hear for 30-60 days whether it was approved, and there is no way to receive advanced approval or a guarantee of this in writing. Shower is completely unusable. Will never buy from this company again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from ABSOLUTE JUNK I have replaced this valve five times in as many years. Most recently, I purchased one in March 2025, and it failed in December 2025 (barely nine months later). The failure mode is identical every time: it works well for the first few months, then gradually delivers less and less hot water. I am confident the issue is the cartridge. If I starve the valve by turning on cold water at my tub (which is upstream), I immediately get full hot water again because there is no cold water available to mix. Each time I replace the cartridge, full hot water is restored. I was able to get one cartridge replaced under warranty about four years ago. Every other replacement has been out of pocket. I have attempted to obtain warranty replacements for the others, but I am consistently given the runaround, and the warranty is never honored. Compounding the issue, the shower handle assembly is clearly not designed to be disassembled as many times as required to address this problem. On one occasion, the handle set screw seized and had to be drilled out, then re-drilled and re-tapped for a larger size (which has since begun stripping again). On another occasion, the temperature limit cap (located on the tip of the cartridge) could not be removed and also had to be drilled out. This shower cartridge has been an absolute nightmare. The amount of time, effort, and money I have wasted is completely unreasonable. Delta should be ashamed to sell this product. It is clearly a flawed design, and there appears to be no viable alternative within their lineup. In hindsight, it would have been cheaper to open the wall and replace the valve with a different brand rather than continue replacing cartridges. At this point, I will have to absorb that cost as well.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Expensive Piece of Junk I’m now replacing this cartridge a second time in a year. I’ve never had so many issues with a shower cartridge before. It works great at first but after several months the hot water slows until it’s just a trickle. I’ve taken it apart as much as I could and there isn’t really any visible buildup. I should not have to go through three cartridges in 4 years, especially considering how expensive this part is. At this point I’m just considering replacing the entire fixture with a different brand since in the long run it will be more affordable. Delta needs to make a more reliable part.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great serviceable product Its a good cartridge that obviously non-mechanicly inclined people just dont understand. I bought this new for a bathroom remodel back in 2018. Here its is 2025 and the hot side quit producing. All you have to do is pull the cartridge, disassemble, and clean the screens off. That's it, simple as that. Not saying the cartridge can never go bad, but its a very simple design that is easily serviceable. Most cartridges are a once and done. At least you can take this one apart and clean. Cleaned the screens, reassembled, and working like new again.

Hi, I'm trying to complete an install using R22000WS rough in. I have two shower heads, so I presume a three function diverter cartridge?....which product number(s) would fit? Is the RP47201 the correct cartrdge? Finally, what trim product fits? Thanks

installed this cartridge and the hot and cold temp handle does not seem to work just get cold water no matter which way i turn it

Please make sure the marking for the hot side of the cartridge is correctly placed on the side of the hot water inlet, which is typically to the left side of the valve body depending on how this was originally installed. Can I replace a dual-function pressure-balanced cartridge with this one?

I currently have the Multichoice valve and the T17430 trim set, but was wanting to change to thermostatic cartridge. Can I just swap the cartridges, or do I need to get a different trim set?

Does this cartridge have back flow protection to prevent hot and cold water cross over?

Hi, I'd like an all metal trim kit to match this valve.

I'm using the Delta R10000-UNWSHF valve body, which should work, attached to a HF 2.5 gpm Speakman head I want no plastic showing anywhere. It's hard to tell what your trim kits are made of. Not too concerned about style. Simple round plates are my preference. I already have the valve, so I just need the trim bits

When were 17t series faucets introduced? My home was built in 2003 and need to figure out the replacement cartridge

There may also be a series name or number just under the handle, located on the escutcheon plate. Replacement instructions

I have just received my replacement cartridge assembly for RT47201 (D-Thermostatic Catridge Assembly) - and I would like to know if there are any how-to instructions available. I plan to replace the entire unit.

Delta Faucet model # RP47201 can be installed by turning off the water, taking off the handles and the bonnet nut, and then pulling out the old cartridge and installing the new one. Then just put everything back the way it came out. Included are the general instructions for the 17T series. I have an older Delta dual handle shower. The cartridge does not look like this. I think it was installed prior to 2016. What is the equivalent part? The one in the wall is much larger than the common ones I see at retail stores

Is there a replacement cartridge for Multichoice 13/14 series to get volume control as well as temperature?

RP47201 installation question.  Is there a way to tell which side is cold and which side is hot ?  If you flip the cartridge 180 degrees, they will be reversed . . . . there are no labels on my cartridge

Hello I had a t60005-pc trim kit installed and it uses the RP47201 about 2 years ago. Now, when I turn the handle it spins completely around and I can no longer turn off the shower. Do I need to replace the RP47201 or can the old one be fixed.

We have a Brizo shower set up from 2007 when this house was built. No model # available. Looks like Luxe Gold 2 lever shower control with square mount plate. Small lever has no cap to access a screw as I have seen in videos. Is RP47201 correct cartridge?

What is the hottest temperature you can get out of a RP47201, the water gets hot just not hot enough. And I already went thru all the steps to adjust the temperature

Hi Lightning Co, Thank you for your question about the Delta Faucet RP47201. The input temperature and the setting of the rotational limit stop would determine the maximum output temperature. The output temperature can exceed 120 degrees which is the suggested maximum to set the limit stop. The input may be as high as 150 degrees on a thermostatic cartridge. I recommend checking the temperature of the input hot water. Double-check that the cartridge is installed with the hot and cold inputs on the correct sides. What is the gpm/psi supported by this valve?

Hi Stephanie b, Thank you for your question about the Delta Faucet RP47201. The expected flow rate will depend on the valve rough and the water pressure. With valve rough R10000-UNBX and 60 psi, the shower port should be about 7.8 gpm and the tub port 8.6 gpm. A diverter would reduce the flow rate. Please reach out with any additional questions! Is the internal flow for the cartridge at 3/4 inch or cut down to 1/2 inch? e.g, running 1/2in instead of the 3/4 to the cartridge will cut the flow through cartridge.
