The TempAssure® thermostatic cartridge allow precise control of your shower temperature. The cartridge functions like a thermostat to precisely measure and control the water temperature. All Delta® tub and shower faucets are engineered to keep the water temperature within a safe ±3.6° F (±1.7° C)*. This technology makes sure your family doesn’t experience a sudden and possibly unsafe change in water temperature as a result of running water elsewhere, such as using a dishwasher, flushing a toilet or running a washing machine. Delta thermostatic tub and shower faucets are built with TempAssure® valves. The valve features an adjustable handle limit stop that, when properly set, helps ensure the handle cannot be turned to a position that is too hot for comfort.

PRODUCTS THAT FAIL, HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
DO NOT PURCHASE THIS OR ANY ITEM THAT CONTAINS THIS PIECE. Lost hot water and water pressure less than three years after installing in a new build home. Took multiple phone calls (and very long wait times) to get the item replaced under warranty. Except I still haven't received the replacement, the website shows that the status is shipped but has no tracking information, and a phone customer service rep has told me that is incorrect and it has not shipped. I was told I could choose to purchase the item on my own (nearly $500), and then "request" reimbursement but I would not hear for 30-60 days whether it was approved, and there is no way to receive advanced approval or a guarantee of this in writing. Shower is completely unusable. Will never buy from this company again.

ABSOLUTE JUNK
I have replaced this valve five times in as many years. Most recently, I purchased one in March 2025, and it failed in December 2025 (barely nine months later). The failure mode is identical every time: it works well for the first few months, then gradually delivers less and less hot water.
I am confident the issue is the cartridge. If I starve the valve by turning on cold water at my tub (which is upstream), I immediately get full hot water again because there is no cold water available to mix. Each time I replace the cartridge, full hot water is restored.
I was able to get one cartridge replaced under warranty about four years ago. Every other replacement has been out of pocket. I have attempted to obtain warranty replacements for the others, but I am consistently given the runaround, and the warranty is never honored.
Compounding the issue, the shower handle assembly is clearly not designed to be disassembled as many times as required to address this problem. On one occasion, the handle set screw seized and had to be drilled out, then re-drilled and re-tapped for a larger size (which has since begun stripping again). On another occasion, the temperature limit cap (located on the tip of the cartridge) could not be removed and also had to be drilled out.
This shower cartridge has been an absolute nightmare. The amount of time, effort, and money I have wasted is completely unreasonable.
Delta should be ashamed to sell this product. It is clearly a flawed design, and there appears to be no viable alternative within their lineup. In hindsight, it would have been cheaper to open the wall and replace the valve with a different brand rather than continue replacing cartridges. At this point, I will have to absorb that cost as well.

Expensive Piece of Junk
I’m now replacing this cartridge a second time in a year. I’ve never had so many issues with a shower cartridge before. It works great at first but after several months the hot water slows until it’s just a trickle. I’ve taken it apart as much as I could and there isn’t really any visible buildup. I should not have to go through three cartridges in 4 years, especially considering how expensive this part is. At this point I’m just considering replacing the entire fixture with a different brand since in the long run it will be more affordable. Delta needs to make a more reliable part.

Not too hot
This product will not let you get a hot shower!. I AJUSTED the cartridge all the way counter clockwise and still warm not hot shower. Wish I could give it a negative star.

Great serviceable product
Its a good cartridge that obviously non-mechanicly inclined people just dont understand. I bought this new for a bathroom remodel back in 2018. Here its is 2025 and the hot side quit producing. All you have to do is pull the cartridge, disassemble, and clean the screens off. That's it, simple as that. Not saying the cartridge can never go bad, but its a very simple design that is easily serviceable. Most cartridges are a once and done. At least you can take this one apart and clean. Cleaned the screens, reassembled, and working like new again.

For residential faucets, we recommend a maximum output temperature of 120 degrees as a safety issue. For this thermostatic cartridge, the input temperature may be as high as 150 degrees.

I have a shower cartridge that was damaged when I tried to get it out to replace seals. It has a designation of 17t/18t series on the face plate. It controls both flow and temperature. Is this the valve cartridge to replace it?
The question is IF a 3/4 inch connection would provide GREATER flow than a 1/2 inch connection OR does the cartridge itself limit the flow. The goal is the GREATEST flow.
The bathtub shower faucet has a small leak. Is a cartridge replacement needed for the Delta Linden 1 handle water sense bathtub and shower faucet with handheld showerhead Model #T17494-RB-1? If yes, please provide the precise model number.

If a T17494-RB-I is dripping when off from the spout the RP46073 seal replacement kit. A leak under the handle or behind the wall will require the replacement cartridge RP46463.

Removing the temperature knob will depend on the model of the trim. Remove the cap in the middle of the knob to unscrew the knob from the cartridge. See here for more information:

How do i remove the handle on the Delta T17 Multichoice? There's no obvious cover to remove or allen nut to loosen.

The smaller temperature dial on a Delta Faucet T17 Series handle can be pulled off by simply pulling the lever portion on the smaller handle towards you with a bit of pressure. It will pop off to reveal a Phillips screw that secures the volume handle.

Which direction is "up"? There are NO markings on the cartridge at all (like the instruction manual indicates). There's only a "H" and "C", but they are perpendicular to the two nubs that have small o-rings

Does the T27967 includes 17S cartridge? If so can the T27967 be ordered with upgraded to 17T cartridge or sold separately?

What is the correct valve cartridge assembly for the Delta Monitor 1800 SERIES shower trim? The trim plate has Monitor 1800 SERIES printed under the handle.

The cartridge for our 1800 series showers depends on when the shower was manufactured. If it was manufactured before 2005, the cartridge is RP32104, and if it was manufactured after 2005, the cartridge is RP46463.

For a shower that uses this cartridge, the trim can be replaced with a trim that uses a different cartridge. However, a handle or trim for this cartridge wouldn't fit a different cartridge.
The MultiChoice valve rough uses this cartridge or RP46463 or RP46074.

The RP47201 is the cartridge for a T17T series trim. This trim kit would be installed in the Delta MultiChoice valve, so a pressure balance trim kit, series T14 or T17, can be installed.

I have Delta Faucet T24967, Chrome Ara Angular Modern Monitor 14 Series Valve Trim with 6-Setting Integrated Diverter with R22000-WS, will a Delta RP47201 ( 17T) MultiChoice Cartridge compatible with 14 series? and will it increase volume? Thanks

The RP47201 cartridge does work with the R22000-WS valve rough. But the thermostatic cartridge is not compatible with the T24967 trim. You could change to a 17T cartridge by installing a 17T series trim such as T27T967. The 17T series does have increased maximum flow over the 14 series.

After installation, it was discovered that the hot and cold water are reversed. Can this cartridge be reversed to correct this problem? I see it is marked with a "top". Can it be installed upside down to avoid re-plumbing.

Can the RP47201 cartridge be used without a screen, or is there an alternative replacement cartridge without a screen?

Thank you for your question about the Delta Faucet cartridge RP47201. Unfortunately, we don't have a replacement cartridge. The screen is not designed to be removed.
A soft toothbrush and a mixture of household white vinegar and water mixed 50% is effective at cleaning the screens.
