just change the seat and spring underneath
searched all around town for one I would not have to order. 3 of 4 stores either out or did not have sufficient knowledge about the product to find a suitable off-brand replacement. 4th store recommended replacing the seat and spring underneath the unit stem assembly. $2.50 later, my faucet works better than ever.

exspensive washers
approx $36 dollars to replace a 5 cent washer. I guess I will look to buy another manufacture faucet set. Will probably be able to buy a whole new faucet set for $36.00.

my faucet is leaking 15 drips a min. do these cart. go bad very often?
Hi Walter, Thank you for your question. The RP47422 is a wearable part. The longevity of the cartridges will be affected by usage and water quality with regards to iron content, sediment, and hardness. Under normal conditons the cartridges do not go bad very often.

how do i install the new cartrige

Thank you for your question. You will want to install the two crescent moon shape plastic piece on the 'right side' of each stem. Install the 1/4" turn stop on the right side of the crescent moon shaped piece for the cold handle. Install the 1/4" turn stop on the left side of the crescent moon shaped piece for the hot handle.

is this the newer version of RP42722, i searched it but this one keeps on showing up in the result, thanks
Thank you for your question, cchi! The RP47422 ceramic stem units have not changed in appearance however we do have other ceramic stem units that are similar like part number RP8230. Please know that stem units can be model specific and these are not interchangeable. It's advisable to use the parts shown in your models maintenance and installation manual.

Can you replace the RP1740 with the RP47422 cartridge?

Thank you for your question. The RP1740 and RP47442 are not interchangeable. However, you may replace the RP1740 with the RP25513.
