Where can I find specs for this product
Hi Mccann, Thank you for your question. We do not have a spec sheet available for the RP48689SS handle. The diameter of the round part of the handle is 2.06". The overall length of the handle is 3.11", and the overall height of the handle is 1.23".

Where can I find the instruction on how to remove the broken knob and install the new one?

Thank you for your question!
In order to remove the temperature dial you will simply pry/pull the handle towards you until it pops off. It is not threaded on or secured by a set screw.

Does this come with a backing plate?

This part number includes two items, the finished temperature knob cover and the temperature knob. The temperature knob would be screwed to the valve cartridge. The screw is not included in this part number. See this part diagram for more information:
