Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk Like many other reviews, mine lasted about two years. You know how bad your product has to be to only have a 2.9 review rating? I guess they know they have you over a barrel, since it's buy another one or new faucet.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality Cartridge The product quality is very poor for this particular product. The cartridge typically only lasts about a year before it starts leaking and needs to be replaced. We are on the 5th replacement cartridge so far and it needs to be replaced again after less than a year being installed. We are on city water in the Metro Nashville area and have a filter on the water line as well so the problem shouldn't be with the quality of the water. And I'm having trouble getting through to Delta customer service right now as the 800-345-3358 number is not working either. Very dissappointed in the quality of this product even with the lifetime warranty because I have to change the cartridge every year. And, according to the other reviews I've read on the Delta website, a number of other people are having the same problem. The older style product with replaceable rubber gaskets was much more reliable and easy to service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Useful Features I love my Leland Arctic Stainless kitchen faucet & Delta has been wonderful since I purchased it from them through Amazon in 2013. They've sent me many free replacement cartridges over the years, & even the water lines & a different spray head since then b/c I was putting up with something that I didn't realize shouldn't be happening. Evidently, this faucet has evolved since 2013 & I'm currently using a head they sent me that has 2 different types of sprays. It's time for a new cartridge under the handle b/c the spray head drips at times which is what happens when it doesn't dock properly as it's done so well in the past. Delta has evidently improved this cartridge also b/c it seems to have lasted much longer than in the past.

I scratched the plastic piece below valve cartridge but cannot find the part number.

The piece I am trying to replace has three holes, sits below the valve cartridge, has three hoses connected to it, and sits on top of a brass ring. What is the part number for this piece? And how can I disconnect the three hoses from it to replace this piece?
Asked by: kj
Hi KJ, Thank you for your question. The puck assembly is not available as a replacement part. If the scratch is bad enough that the valve assembly will not seal onto the puck the faucet will have to be replaced. Thanks, Dave

My handle is leaking between the handle and the ball. Will the valve cartridge (RP50587) fix this problem

The water is coming out on top of the ball and going on the counter. If I order the valve Assembly, are the pipes that go to the hot and cold water supply and the pipe that goes to the faucet connected to the assembly. If they are , then do I have to cut them to length and attach proper fittings Faucet is a Delta LeLand 978-DST
Asked by: Gary
Hi, Gary! Thank you for your question. If your faucet, 978-DST is leaking at the handle, we would recommend to try and tighten the bonnet nut at the cartridge. If this does not work, we do recommend to replace the cartridge, RP50587. Best Regards, Rosanna

How do i change the cartridge rp50587

Asked by: Joseph
Hi, Joseph! Thank you for your question. To replace the Delta RP50587 valve cartridge assembly, first turn the water supply off at your faucet. Unscrew the set screw of the handle with either a 1/8" or 3/32" allen wrench, depending on your faucet model number. Once the set screw is removed from the handle, the handle can be removed. Unscrew the cap and bonnet nut counterclockwise. Once this is done, the cartridge can be pulled up by the stem of the cartridge. Clean cartridge or reinstall new cartridge as needed. Asked by: Jack
Hi, Jack! Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, we do not have a break down of the cartridge as the cartridge itself should not be broken down. If the valve cartridge assembly is in pieces, we recommend to replace the whole part. Best Regards, Rosanna

What does that little orange switch on the valve do? Thanks

Asked by: Confused in WI
Hi, Confused in WI! Thank you for your question. The orange switch on the Delta RP50587 Valve Cartridge Assembly is a handle limit stop which is an optional safety feature that can be used to prevent the handle from moving too far to the hot side. Best Regards, Rosanna

how to replace adelta cartridge rp50587

Asked by: Rejeanne
Thank you for your question, Rejeanne! When changing a stem unit or cartridge assembly, it is always recommended to ensure the water is shut off completely to the unit. You will then need to remove the handle with either a 1/8" or 3/32" allen wrench. The sleeve and bonnet nut can be removed to reveal the cartridge which will pull straight out. Inspect the valve body for buildup or debris, then re-install the new cartridge, taking note of the tab or tabs located on the bottom for proper alignment. Best regards, Edward

I think I have this part from an older, discontinued faucet, Pilar. Does this part work with Trinsic 9959T-DST?

Asked by: Sparkysmom030906
Hi, Sparkysmom030906! Thank you for your question. The Delta RP50587 Valve Cartridge Assembly does not fit the 9959T-DST Faucet. For 9959T-DST models produced before 01/01/2018 the correct cartridge is RP60114. For 9959T-DST models produced after 01/01/2018 the correct cartridge is RP73000. Best Regards, Rosanna

Should I be worry about Proposition 65? Does this product (RP50587) contain any chemical which cause cancer?

Asked by: Dddd
Hi, Dddd! Thank you for your question. The label indicates that components inside the product contain exposed brass, which includes small but detectible amounts of lead—an element on the Prop 65 chemical list. Many products sold in California are required to carry this label. Even though a product may be found to contain a Proposition 65-listed chemical, it does not mean that use of the product will cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. Nor does it mean that a product is unsafe. All Delta Faucet Company products meet or exceed the requirements of applicable product performance and safety industry standards, as well as the federal Safe Drinking Water Act. We are confident there is no health hazard associated with the installation or removal of our products. Best Regards, Rosanna

I just finished replacement of cartridge RP50587, the water flow out of the faucet with the new cartridge is about 1/2 the flow it used to be with the original cartridge. Is there a way to increase pressure? Is this a faulty cartridge?

Asked by: Gina
Flushing the faucet solved my problem. I removed the screen from the end of the faucet (where the water comes out). Mine was clogged with lots of tiny bits of rubber. Once I washed that all away, flow was back to normal.

How do you replace a RP50587?

Asked by: Big Ronnie
Thank you for your question, Big Ronnie! The Delta RP50587 cartridge can be replaced by first shutting both the hot and cold water supplies completely off. Put the handle in the "On" position to drain any remaining water. Then loosen the set screw, remove the handle and unscrew the cap and bonnet. Check for debris in the valve body and then insert the cartridge and ensure it is seated properly. Then tighten the bonnet hand-tight plus a 1/4 turn with a wrench. Any recommendations on loosening a very stuck set screw? I am unable to get it to turn to remove the handle.

Asked by: Mike
Hi Mike, Thank you for your question. We recommend soaking a towel with a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water and wrapping the towel around the set screw opening. Allow the solution to soak in overnight if possible to help break up the mineral deposits. Thanks, Dave

What is the small orange tab on top of the RP50587 cartridge? It is set to the left, but can be moved to the right. Does it favor more hot water vs more cold water in the mix? Should it be set to the left as the factory default setting?

Asked by: Bill
Thank you for your question, Bill! The switch is a Handle Limit Stop which can be switched to the right in to prevent full hot water. Please refer to the Installation Instructions for more information: https://media.deltafaucet.com/MandI/64211%20Rev%20A.pdf Best regards, Jon
