Rated 1 out of 5 by from Continue to have issues with Delta Cartr. RP50587 The last time I replaced our RP50587 cartridge was in January 2020. Delta provided that replacement cartridge. Now it is January 2024 and the same problem. Actually the cartridge has been bad for a while. I cannot remember when it went bad but I'd guess about at least 18 months ago. It does the same thing, leaks/drips unless we have the faucet handle in the right spot. Delta can we get another replacement cartridge? Thank you.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Needs to be redesigned I have replaced this cartridge several times and have experienced the same problem over and over. It fails to shut off without dripping most the time requiring handle wiggling to find a sweet spot. I have used Delta parts as well as knock offs with the same results.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Lifetime Warranty brings mixed thoughts This faucet was installed new in early 2015. We liked the faucet. It looked nice and served us well to a point. The original valve failed a few years ago. I contacted the Delta and went through the steps to get a replacement shipped to me. I installed the replacement valve, and all was well. The replacement valve did not last as long as the original. During summer of 2023 we began the task of getting the handle just right so it would shut off completely. It now will not seal off and leaks a very steady stream. My faith in this product is damaged.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Needs to be replaced every 2 years! :-( It’s great that my Delta faucet has a lifetime warranty but this is the third time since 2017 that I have had to replace the cartridge with valve assembly. Since I have to pay someone to do the replacement for me, it feels like I am paying for this faucet over and over again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't last I am replacing this cartridge in my Delta kitchen faucet (9178-SP-DST) for the 3rd time since it was purchased in 2020. They last maybe about 1.5 years. The faucet operation stiffens and starts to drip nonstop; then becomes impossible to shut off. I also have this same mechanism in two other Delta bathroom faucets (15999-SS-DST) and one is starting to dip as well. I think they redesigned the original design, but I am unsure what version I have. The problem exists and replacement, while easy, is frustrating. I feel I will stay away from a Delta product when I make my next faucet purchase.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Delta faucets don’t last The cartridges on these models are made to fail in less than 2 years. Never again will I pay for delta.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fixed my leak I noticed a small drip coming from my faucet when the handle was in the "Off" position. Called customer service and discussed the issue. They sent this part as the replacement. Easy swap, out with the old and in with new. Presto! No more leak. Background: We built our home 11 years ago and this is the original kitchen sink faucet. Family of 5, so this thing has seen lots of use. Very happy with my Delta purchase and their lifetime warranty. If this new cartridge last 11 years like the previous one, then I'll be a happy camper. Thanks Delta

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Beware! Loved this kitchen faucet UNTIL we left for vacation and a small leak from the handle ran down the stem and under the sink while we were gone. Gallons of water ran onto the floor and into the basement before my son visited and managed to fix the leak. If you buy this brand, be sure to add in the cost of a plumber !!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Product fixed my problem! Delta’s website was easy to use. The only complaint I had, was that the “tracking information” sent to me was not correct. But, the part arrived in 7-10 days as promised with normal (free) shipping.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Leaked from the beginning We bought a new Ashton kitchen faucet in May 2022. The cartridge has leaked from the beginning. I can only imagine the hassle I will encounter to try to get Delta to send me a new one under the warranty.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Correct part This is the second time replacing this part. It seems to last about 4 to 5 years then starts to go bad. I don't mind replacing, but the price is a joke, $54 for a part that probably costs $5. Nice of you offer free shipping. Which brings me to why so big of a box?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy - Peasy Replacement! Though disappointed my 7-year-old kitchen faucet started dripping, I was surprised & pleased the design included a widely used replaceable cartridge that installed from “above” the sink. Delta sent one no-cost and a 15 minute install. I didn’t have the torque wrench or large (1-5/16 in.) socket the directions suggested but got it done with tools on hand. Works well so far. Excellent customer support - thank you!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from My Mistake in Buying this Delta Faucet I purchased a Delta faucet from Home Depot approx 4 years ago and now I find that a key replacement part (RP50587) is very expensive relative to the cost of the faucet (back then). This is ridiculous, but my mistake. Anyone want to gues which brand/company that I won't buy from in the future?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from TOTAL JUNK I was so happy to have found a replacement. That was the good part. The replacement began exhibiting the same exact issue as the old one within minutes of replacement. I took the valve apart to find what feels like a disc made of bar hand soap. This disc is directly actuated by the handle and is insanely under spec, strength wise. The handle had wallowed it out within MINUTES. I feel as if someone played a prank on me. The valve assem

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fixed the Problem I was a bit disappointed that my Delta kitchen faucet started leaking after only 2 1/2 years of use. However, replacing the valve was relatively easy and fixed the leak.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from leaks often I am on my 4th replacement in 3 years. i have changed water pressure in my home, hot water temperature, mounting torque, nothing seems to change the lifespan. water is not overly hard. one day it just starts leaking and i have about 2- 3 weeks before it becomes an annoying stream. my last home i bought one of the cheap knock off faucets from amazon, lasted 4 years with not a single replacement part. as a long time homeowner of delta products, this little gem is absolutely substandard. for the premium price of the faucet and replacement parts, its a little disappointing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worthless - 2 Year Lifespan I used to recommend Delta Faucets on a regular basis because of their quality and their easy, low cost maintenance. With older Delta Faucets, they would go for 8 or 10 trouble free years before a small drip develops, then you replace the seats and springs for less than $5, and it would be like new again. With the Delta "Diamond" technology, you are lucky to get 2 years of service before it becomes difficult to shutoff, then you are in it for $40 for a new cartridge that you know will fail again in 2 years. I guess Delta was not making enough money selling quality products. I generally do not leave reviews, but this was a particularly poorly designed product that has ended my preference for Delta Faucets.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor design. Fails quickly The RP50587 lasts maybe 6 months. I have started buying 2 at a time so I have an extra handy. The last one started leaking within weeks. I am on my 4th replacement. It's an expensive part to replace. Very disappointing from a big name like Delta.

Thank you for your question, bill c! The switch on the top is a Handle Limit Stop, which allows you to either have the full range of motion for temperature control or to limit the handle from going to the hot side. Best regards, Jon

When replacing part# RP50587, what is the best process for removing the bonnet nut? Is a special wrench required? Diffcult to tell where to loosen.

Asked by: Amber
Hi Amber, Thank you for your question. The RP50587 can be removed using an adjustable wrench. The top of the bonnet nut will have the flat edges where the wrench is positioned. Here is a link to the How to replace the DST cartridge. http://www.deltafaucet.com/shopping-tools/research/video-gallery/video.html?v=1KMlxNiWni8&cat= Thanks, Dave

I have a 9178 delta kitchen faucet and the handle is becoming hard to move and squeaks. It appears that I need a Cartridge - DIAMOND™ Valve - 1H Model#: RP50587. Is this is correct, are there any special tools I need for this project?

Asked by: Steve_H
Hi, Steve_H! Thank you for your question, and I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing an issue with your Delta faucet. The correct valve cartridge assembly is RP50587. You will need a 1/8" allen wrench to remove the handle assembly. You may also need an adjustable wrench to loosen the bonnet nut around the valve cartridge assembly. Please be sure to turn off the water at the shut off valve before removing the handle. Best Regards, Rosanna

Is this the cartridge for the 955-DST?   Also, is the cartridge the same quality wherever we purchase it?  We would like to buy one and replace it today.

Asked by: Heather
Hello Heather, Thank you for your inquiry! Yes, the RP50587 is the correct cartridge assembly for the Delta Victorian Pull-Down Kitchen 955-DST faucet. All Delta faucets and parts feature the same quality parts, materials, and workmanship, no matter what kind of dealer sells them. Delta retail dealers usually sell faucets that include the handles in the boxes. Plumbing professionals and Delta Studio Showrooms sell faucets where the faucets and handles are packaged and sold separately ("LHP" models), giving the customer some additional styling choices. However, the quality of all Delta faucets and parts are the same. Best regards, Tanya
