Like many other reviews, mine lasted about two years. You know how bad your product has to be to only have a 2.9 review rating? I guess they know they have you over a barrel, since it's buy another one or new faucet.

Poor Quality Cartridge
The product quality is very poor for this particular product. The cartridge typically only lasts about a year before it starts leaking and needs to be replaced. We are on the 5th replacement cartridge so far and it needs to be replaced again after less than a year being installed. We are on city water in the Metro Nashville area and have a filter on the water line as well so the problem shouldn't be with the quality of the water. And I'm having trouble getting through to Delta customer service right now as the 800-345-3358 number is not working either. Very dissappointed in the quality of this product even with the lifetime warranty because I have to change the cartridge every year. And, according to the other reviews I've read on the Delta website, a number of other people are having the same problem. The older style product with replaceable rubber gaskets was much more reliable and easy to service.

Very Useful Features
I love my Leland Arctic Stainless kitchen faucet & Delta has been wonderful since I purchased it from them through Amazon in 2013. They've sent me many free replacement cartridges over the years, & even the water lines & a different spray head since then b/c I was putting up with something that I didn't realize shouldn't be happening. Evidently, this faucet has evolved since 2013 & I'm currently using a head they sent me that has 2 different types of sprays. It's time for a new cartridge under the handle b/c the spray head drips at times which is what happens when it doesn't dock properly as it's done so well in the past. Delta has evidently improved this cartridge also b/c it seems to have lasted much longer than in the past.

What is the procedure and tool to remove RP50587?

Thank you for your question. To remove the Delta RP50587 Valve Cartridge Assembly, first turn the water off at your shut off valve. Depending on the model number of your faucet, unscrew the set screw with a 1/8" or 3/32" Allen wrench. This will remove the whole handle. Unscrew both the cap and bonnet nut counter clockwise. Pull the stem of the cartridge straight up and out to remove from the valve. Please feel free to call, email, or message us on social.

The orange tab on the RP50587 valve assembly is the handle limit stop. The stop limits the handle motion to the hot water side. The cartridge comes in the full range setting from the factory.This information can be found on the installation guide that comes with the faucet that includes this cartridge.

Thank you for your question. The switch on the valve assembly is a handle limit stop. Position 1, to the left, allows full handle motion (the full range between “all cold” to “all hot”). The faucet is set in position 1 in the factory. Position 2, to the right, allows half of the normal handle motion (“all cold” to “mixed hot/cold”).
The handle limit stop can be adjusted by the homeowner once the faucet is installed. Setting the handle limit stop in position 2 may help to prevent scalding because it limits the amount of hot water in the mix; however, this handle limit stop will not always prevent scalding because it does not compensate for incoming pressure or sudden water temperature changes.
To change positions of the handle limit stop: remove the handle; move the valve stem to the all cold position so the water is on; change the position of the handle limit stop; turn off the water; reinstall the handle.

What am I doing wrong? I just replaced my last Delta RP50587 Single Handle Valve Cartridge 3 months ago and it is dripping again. If there's a trick to this then please let me know
Bethany’s answer fixed the problem for me. We have had our faucet for about 3 years and it started leaking at the handle. I tried disassembling and retightening but still leaked. I was about to replace it with the RP50587 when I came across this thread. I flushed it with 50/50 vinegar/water and tightened it really good. No leaks :)

how to remove cartridge from 9178-RB DST

Thank you for your question, James! In order to change the Valve Cartridge RP50587 part, it is advisable that you turn the water off to the unit or residence before proceeding. You will need a 1/8" or 3/32" Allen wrench to remove the handle assembly set screw. You may also need an adjustable wrench to loosen the bonnet nut around the valve cartridge assembly. Once the bonnet nut is removed, the cartridge will pull straight out. Clean the valve body of any debris, then insert the new cartridge, screw on the bonnet nut and please be sure not to over-tighten the bonnet as we recommend tightening a 1/4 turn to a full turn past finger tight. Lastly attach the handle with the set screw and this repair is complete. Turn on the shut off valves below the counter slowly and test to make sure the water flows correctly. Please feel free to contact us directly if you have questions or need further assistance.

What is the difference between Part No's RP50587, RP50587WW, and RP50587RL (besides price) cartridge assembly? Also, I need to know the hex allen wrench size for the handle screw on a Model No. 19949-DST kitchen faucet.

Thank you for your question, and I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing a leak from your Delta faucet. There is a bonnet nut that is holding the cartridge down, underneath your handle. We recommend to tighten the bonnet nut to stop the leak. To do this, turn the water off at your shut off valve. Remove the handle. Tighten the bonnet by turning clockwise, to the right. Install the handle back on and turn the water back on. Test the faucet. If the faucet still leaks, we recommend to replace both the valve cartridge assembly, RP50587, and the bonnet nut, RP51503.

The Bonnet Nut and Cap Assembly covers the RP50587 cartridge assembly and the set screw in the handle tighten it to the stem of the cartridge assembly. Is this part compatible with a Victorian Single Handle Pull Down Kitchen Faucet (possibly installed in 1994) that looks like model 955-SS-DST?
Thank you for your question, Webtex! The RP50587 cartridge is only compatible with single faucets manufactured after 2009. Model 955-SS-DST does take the RP50587 cartridge, however this faucet was not manufactured until 2009. The Victorian collection was not introduced until 2001.

Off position
My Leland Delta faucet is hard to turn off..I have to find the "right" position. I took off the handle and such and noticed the lever on the cartridge is in the off position seemingly on the nearest side of the triangular shaped guide instead of at the apex where I would expect it. Is this fixable or do I need a new cartridge?
