A total garbage of a product
Unfortunately the previous home owners had purchased this delta crappy faucet a yr prior to us moving into the home. Now, we are dealing with this unfortunate pretty on the outside, crappy faulty design inside leaking cartridge, hard to adjust hot cold water flow of a faucet. Delta representative won't replace the faucet despite it falls within the 10 yr purchase mark
no fault replacement, "I'm sorry sir, but since you're not the original owner, we can only do a courtesy of just replacing you with our delta cartrige valve system." it's not the valve system only, even the outside neck, water sprayer is broken and leaking. I'm not impressed with this faucet. Already know it will fall apart in the near future.

Easy to Order
I needed a new cartridge for the on/off lever of my kitchen faucet to repair a nagging drip. I easily found the part number in the literature from the original purchase, searched and found that specific part online in the DeltaFaucet website and easily placed an order for it. Quality seems to be going the wrong wsy
I bought the faucet in 2016, the diamond cartridge lasted 4 years. Since than the life of this product is going south, I have replaced this part going on 4 times. The last one only lasted 3 months. Change your current supplier or the design.

The replacement cartridge Delta is shipping to me will be the third cartridge in this faucet in only 27 months. After running hot water exclusively, it won't shut off completely and drips for several minutes before I can finally completely close the valve. I hope the quality has improved. It's also nearly impossible to find the "sweet spot" for warm water. It's either hot or cold. When this replacement cartridge begins to leak, and I know it will, that's when the entire faucet will be replaced.

Diamond cartridge a lump of coal
I bought a delta faucet with the “Diamond cartridge”. After 2 years i have replaced 3 cartridges. At 50$ a cartridge, its getting expensive. I have contacted Delta by phone and email, and am stuck in an email loop with the warranty. Faucet looks great on the outside, but the insides are garbage.

Worked Perfectly

Inconsistent quality
I have had the faucet since 2014 and I am now on my 6th replacement of this cartridge. I have had several that only last a couple months and one that lasted almost 4 years. It is just so rustrating to have to constantly replace this poor quality product.

Very short life. Starts to leak in 6 months.
Have to replace every 6 months. At a cost of around $50 each. If you have a plumber it would cost about $200 each time.

Needs to be replaced AGAIN
If I knew I would need to replace the cartridge every couple of years I would have went with another mfg. I will most likely change the faucet to another brand and save money over time by not needing to purchase a new cartridge now and again in two years. I will help others as I am an executive with a large engineering company and I will remove Delta from our spec's.

Well,I am off to Lowes next week after christmas to try and buy if in stock,my 3rd valve cartridge,RP50587 for my Kitchen faucet,I bought this faucet in Feb,2017,and Delta should try to fix or improve this part.It starts driping and can't be fixed Drives wife crazy.

Great functionality, but lacking durability
The Delta kitchen sink faucet is a pleasure to use. However, the faucet valve lacks durability, requiring disassembly to lubricate about every 2 years to stop faucet dripping. Unfortunately, replacement valves are not in inventory for prompt shipping. In lessons learned, it's best to order and have a spare valve on hand in the event the valve develops external leakage which cannot be maintained.

what is the switch on the top for ?
Thank you for your question, bill c! The switch on the top is a Handle Limit Stop, which allows you to either have the full range of motion for temperature control or to limit the handle from going to the hot side.

This cartridge is not designed to be serviced and does not have repair parts available. When replacing part# RP50587, what is the best process for removing the bonnet nut? Is a special wrench required? Diffcult to tell where to loosen.
Hi Amber, Thank you for your question. The RP50587 can be removed using an adjustable wrench. The top of the bonnet nut will have the flat edges where the wrench is positioned. Here is a link to the How to replace the DST cartridge.

I have a 9178 delta kitchen faucet and the handle is becoming hard to move and squeaks. It appears that I need a Cartridge - DIAMOND™ Valve - 1H Model#: RP50587. Is this is correct, are there any special tools I need for this project?

Thank you for your question, and I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing an issue with your Delta faucet. The correct valve cartridge assembly is RP50587. You will need a 1/8" allen wrench to remove the handle assembly. You may also need an adjustable wrench to loosen the bonnet nut around the valve cartridge assembly. Please be sure to turn off the water at the shut off valve before removing the handle.

All Delta faucets and parts feature the same quality parts, materials, and workmanship, no matter what kind of dealer sells them. Delta retail dealers usually sell faucets that include the handles in the boxes. Plumbing professionals and Delta Studio Showrooms sell faucets where the faucets and handles are packaged and sold separately ("LHP" models), giving the customer some additional styling choices. However, the quality of all Delta faucets and parts are the same.
