Like so many other reviewers have said, these cartridges last 3 years before they are dripping constantly. We got our faucet in 2012, had to replace the cartridge in 2015, 2018 and need to do so again in 2021. Aside from that they work fine, but it's very frustrating and given our similar experience with shower cartridges from Delta, too, we're definitely not planning to go with Delta again.

Won't Stop leaking
We bought a faucet about 10 years ago that has this cartridge. they only last about a year and then start leacking. Why can't delta redesign this cartridge to be of better quality?

Beautiful Look, poor performance, inferior internal components
Very disappointed! We paid way too much for this kitchen facet less than three months ago and already need to replace the Handle Valve Cartridge. It's very difficult to set the temperature mix, and leaks insistently. I'm over Delta!

The RP50587 is a terrible product
I recently purchased this product because my two year old faucet began dripping and there was no way to stop it. My contractor reoiled the ring and it worked for a month. My replacement lasted less than 6 months and is now leaking again. If it fails so often, as other reviews indicate, why not supply the rubber ring as it likely is the problem...or is it? Time to replace with a different manufacturers product!

Trust in Delta
Quality and durability are the best features of all Delta products. Ease of installation is another feature of Delta.. I always recommend this fine product. In my home, where ever we turn on water, it's DELTA.

Great price, arrived fast, is correct part and is has fixed my faucet

Easy replacement and installation; great customer service
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had purchased this cartridge about 8 months ago when I first noticed the old one was starting to drip. It finally got to the point that I needed to install it. When I installed it, the water wouldn't stop when I turned the faucet off. Couldn't understand what the problem was so I had to reinstall the old one temporarily. When I compared the two, it appeared that the new one was missing the three-ring pretzel shaped gasket/washer on the bottom of the cartridge. I initiated a chat on the website and initially was told that the 30 day return policy was exceeded. Then I asked about the gasket and waited a while for a response. Then an email arrived indicating that they would send a new one free of charge providing I returned to defective one and to await instructions for returning it. Another email arrived the next day saying there was no need to return it.
I have purchased a number of items from FaucetDirect and have always been perfectly satisfied with the merchandise and the customer service.
As for the installation, it is a 5 minute job. You remove the set screw to remove the handle; you can twist off the cap by hand and remove the brass bonnet with a wrench. Then, just lift out the old cartridge, drop in the new and replace the bonnet, cap and handle. Just remember to shut off the water supply to the faucet before you start.

Life-time Warranty Works!
Have had all of the same problems as described by others with the DST cartridge on our Lelalnd kitchen faucet, so I called Delta directly to inquire about a warranty replacement, and things couldn't have been easier. Got to speak to Chris without delay, explained our problem, and within minutes he confirmed that a replacement cartridge would be on its way to us, no other questions asked. The whole process took less than six minutes. Have always been more than satisfied with Delta products, and this experience only reinforces our opinion. We just hope they are able to resolve an apparent problem with the DST; we will be returning our old cartridge for their study.

Bad Delta faucet with bad cartridge
This is a lousy faucet with a lousy cartridge! Bought the faucet 3 years ago. It did not fully shut off. Changed cartridge almost annually to maintain full shut off. Each cartridge only lasted several months before failing to full shut off. Changed the faucet with an American Standard and now have peace in mind.

Delta faucet still drips!
I bought this part to stop my bathroom faucet from dripping. I had the new part installed and it still drips! Other reviews for this product say the same thing. This is a defective faucet apparently! I will have to replace the whole faucet because the drip will ruin my sink. We have hard water and it is already getting a calcium buildup from this dripping.

Easy install
Instructions were straight forward. Only needed hex wrench to remove faucet handle, then unscrew the cap by hand, pull out the old valve, put in the new one and re-assemble faucet. Took less than 5 mins.

what does the red button do? How is it to be set?

Thank you for your question. The button on top of the cartridge is a handle limit stop. This faucet includes an integrated handle limit stop that has two positions.
When you position the button to the left, this position allows full handle motion (the full range between “all cold” to “all hot”). The faucet is set in this position in the factory. When you position the button to the right, this position allows half of the normal handle motion (“all cold” to “mixed hot/cold”).
The handle limit stop can be adjusted by the homeowner once the faucet
is installed. Setting the handle limit stop in the second position may help to prevent scalding because it limits the amount of hot water in the mix.
To change positions of the handle limit stop: remove the handle;
move the valve stem to the all cold position so the water is on; change
the position of the handle limit stop; turn off the water; reinstall
the handle.

I have an Older Delta model Faucet, pull down, 3 years old maybe. Is this cartridge universal?
Thank you for your question, Techman23! While the RP50587 cartridge is compatible with several Single Handle Delta Kitchen Faucets manufactured after 2010, it is not a universal cartridge. Some newer Delta single handle kitchen faucets take an RP60114 cartridge, and some take an RP73000 cartridge. Some single handle faucets have a ball assembly with seats and springs, instead of a cartridge.The part number for the cartridge can be found in the Parts Diagram, under the Documents & Specs tab on the faucet's web page.
