Replacement parts are a ripoff
This button costs Delta, what a dollar or so?? And they want to charge $40 for a replacement!! That's ABSURD. We recently replaced our sink and in moving the faucet from the old sink to the new sink, the button was lost. Shame on these companies for price gouging customers on these very inexpensive parts. This is the second time I've bought this exact faucet (installed the brushed silver in my last home, oil rubbed bronze in my current home). Maybe next time I'll look for a manufacturer that has reasonable costs for replacement parts - if there is such a thing anymore.

Delta RP50786 hot/cold indicator button
The Delta RP50786 hot/cold indicator button is designed to be pressed into the handle’s set screw opening until it sits flush. However, in this case, the component does not secure as intended. I was unable to achieve a proper snap-fit installation.
After removing the set screw, I test-fitted the indicator in both the handle and the screw independently. Although the indicator inserts into the handle as expected, it does not sit flush, which appears to be a limitation of its design. When fitted into the set screw, the indicator does not remain in place because the plastic retention tabs do not adequately engage the interior surface. The tabs would require greater length and outward tension to provide a secure hold.
Additionally, when the set screw is installed, it appears to be too long, preventing the indicator from seating properly within the handle. While applying a clear silicone adhesive may improve retention, it would serve only as a workaround and does not guarantee a reliable or durable solution.
Given the time and effort already invested, the installation challenges encountered are disproportionate to the value of this component.

$700 FROM MY POCKET TO DELTA POCKET. NEVER WORKED PROPERLY AND WE DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY AND RESET IT 25 DAYS OUT OF 30. THAT IS WHY IT IS DISCONTINUED.

I also lost the button to my faucet and have been having a hard time finding a replacement. They are way too expensive but I’m going to try it one time because I hate looking at the empty spot.

Lost button!
Purchased new faucet but button kept falling out. Lost and I assume went down sink. A new button appears to cost ~$36 which seems like a lot. Will Delta replace button? Its been only a couple of months of service before it was lost.

The original kept falling out and finally disappeared, probably down the drain. I bought a replacement . . . which kept falling out, and then disappeared, probably down the drain. Buy a third one? At these prices I think I can live with the ugly crusty hole. Or buy a new faucet. I hear Waterstone is nice.

Will the button fit my Delta handle (mod # 156-DST)
The button on my handle was blue/red plastic cap. The ones listed are chrome, stainless, etc. with a red/blue dot.
I need a replacement for the plastic cap that has been damaged. Will the new one shown as mod #RP50786 fit my older handle? I purchased my brushed stainless fixture in May 2007.

what is the purpose of the hot cold indicator button? Model#: 11949-SS-DST
Do I need to push the button in a certain direction to get hot or cold water?

Thank you for your question. The indicator button RP50786 is designed to cover the set screw in the handle and indicator which way the handle turns for the hot and cold water flow. This button is just a decorative piece, it does not control or affect the water flow at all.

Will this fit a Delta 980T-DST
The replacement part for my faucet in the manual is listed as RP46781 which is no longer available. This is listed on the parts page online for my faucet. It looks nothing like the part now in my faucet. The dimensions are 3/16" tall by 1/2" wide. Thank you.

No question, just a comment. Indicator button has fallen off twice.Just paid $20 ea. for 2 more and because it is cheap plastic, one of them already has the pieces that hold it in place broken off just trying to push it into place. Really poor quality!!
