Q&A

We just had our plumber instal a RP51919 6-way diverter valve as part of our new shower installation. Regardless of the setting position, there is water coming out of all three of our devices simultaneously. (Shower, Rain Head, and Handheld) Why?

Asked by: Captain Joe
Hi Captain Joe, Thank you for contacting Delta Faucet Company! Please accept our sincere apology for the inconvenience you are experiencing with your Cartridge - 6-Setting Diverter MODEL#: RP51919. Here is what we can do to resolve your issue for you. When installing the rough and trim, we would advise on a full system flush. If any debris got loose in the lines it may have clogged the cartridge. I would advise on flushing the unit and soaking the cartridge in 50/50 white vinegar and water. Here are some flushing instructions: 1) Remove the handle by loosening the set screw on the side of the base of the handle. The set screw is either an 1/8" or 3/32" allen screw. So you will need to use the appropriate size allen wrench to loosen it. Loosen it just enough to be able to easily pull the handle off. 2) After removing the handle, remove the trim sleeve. The sleeve is threaded at the valve opening. It unscrews counterclockwise. 3) After removing the sleeve, you will need to pull the cartridge straight out. Once the cartridge is removed, you will have an open valve body. 4) Next, shut the shower door or curtain and turn the water on to the valve. Water should gush out, much like an open fire hydrant. Have someone observe if there is good water pressure coming out of the valve and let it flush for 30 seconds. 5) Re-install the cartridge and re-assemble in reverse of how it was disassembled. Thank you for being a loyal Delta Faucet customer. We appreciate your business and look forward to continuing to serve you. Please contact us back with any further questions. Best Regards, Nicole

Hello, I have a 342701-SP installed. A third water outlet was added and final items installed are a diverter spout, fixed head and hand sprayer. The spout doesn't flow water however the other 2 items flow water. Will a 6 function cartridge fix the problem

Asked by: Simmons
Hi Simmons, Thank you for your question about the Delta Faucet RP51919 diverter cartridge. This six-setting cartridge can divert to three shower features with the 342701-SP. Using a diverter tub spout with a shower diverter is not recommended. Using a tub spout with a shower diverter will work but we recommend a non-diverter tub spout. Also, the flow rate may be reduced and there may be a drip overnight if water is trapped in the pipe to the tub spout. Please reach out with any additional questions! Asked by: Brian
Hi Brian, Thank you for your question about the Delta Faucet RP51919 diverter cartridge. To replace the cartridge, first remove the diverter handle by loosening the set screw with a 3/32" hex wrench. Then unscrew the trim nut and remove the sleeve. The cartridge pulls straight out of the valve. Wipe out the valve, install the new cartridge, and replace the parts in reverse order. What is difference between T27T859 and T27T959 or 3 function and 6 function. I need 3 individual controls: volume, temperature, and switch between overhead shower and hand held shower. I don't need both showers at the same time. Which should I get.

how do we had this to our original converter? R11000

Asked by: Jenn
Hi Jenn, Thank you for your question regarding model RP51919! To install this diverter cartridge you will first want to turn the water off to the home's shut off valve. PLEASE NOTE: You must remove the cap plugging the right port of the diverter valve if you currently only have a 3-setting diverter cartridge installed. Next, you will remove the diverter trim handle's set screw with a 1/8" Allen wrench. With the set screw and handle removed you will then unthread the bonnet and sleeve from the valve. You can now pull the old diverter cartridge out and insert the new one into the valve. Reinstall the sleeve and bonnet and turn the water back onto the shut-off valve and installation is complete. Please see page 2 in the following link for installation instructions. https://media.deltafaucet.com/MandI/103739%20Rev%20C.pdf Please reach out with further questions!
