It appears the the after this conversion kit is installed push button divertor is not needed. Is that true?
How is the water then diverted between the tub faucet and the shower head? Do I need to buy other items to completely convert the 600 series into the 1300 series?
Asked by: P-Mack
Thank you for your question. When using Delta Faucet model # RP54870, if you had a push button diverter on your escutcheon plate, it can no longer be used. There is a plug for the push button diverter under model # RP2865. You will then need to purchase a tub spout wiht a diverter. This kit also does not include the showerhead or the shower arm and flange.

Hi Paul,
Thank you for your question! The RP54870RB will include all of the needed parts for the valve trim on a 600 series. A 600 series handle will tilt up and down to control the volume and left and right to control temperature, as well has having screws at 5 & 7 o'clock on the plate.
The tub spout, shower head, arm, and flange must be purchased separately. Please click the link below to browse our selection.

Can this be use for a shower only situation? This is for a walk-in shower only, no tub.
Thank you.
Asked by: Kenneth
Thank you for your question, Kenneth! The RP54870 Renovation Kit is for a 600 series tub and shower unit. This is used on a valve body that will have screw hole placements at 5 and 7 o'clock and will not work on another valve body. If there is an existing valve with this screw hole placement and the tub spout port has already been capped, then this will work.

Will the Delta Renovation Kit 600 Series fit on my existing shower. I know I need to purchase the plug. Is it as simple as buying a tub spout with a pull up knob.
Asked by: John
Hello John, Thank you for your question!
Your unit is our Delta 600 series tub/shower. The RP54870 renovation kit will work. You will need the RP2865 diverter plug to plug off the opening for your push button diverter and purchase either a pull up or pull down diverter tub spout.

Hi,
I have a picture of my tub and shower handles that were original with our home (1995). Will this renovation kit work to replace these? I see that I will need a plug for the diverter opening in the tub faucet. What other parts do I need?
Thanks so much for your help!

Or do I have to change the piece inside the wall? I'm trying to not have to break up my marble.

Hi Heather, Thank you for your question. The pictured faucet is a 600 series faucet. We offer the RP54870 renovation kit in chrome, (SS) brilliance stainless, and (RB) ventian bronze that will work with your existing rough in valve. To use the renovation kit you will have to plug the push button diverter with RP2865 and order a diverter tub spout.

Thank you for your question, Leroy! The RP17451 handle as well as the diverter tub spout RP7533 are available separately but are not included in a kit like the RP54870 renovation kit. Not sure which model this is and which renovation kit will work
I want to purchase a renovation kit for this tub/shower set, but I'm not sure which series it is. The house was built in 1991 and these are the original fixtures. There is a push button diverter. I would like to update it with a brushed nickel or chrome finish kit. Please let me know which pieces I would need to purchase separately, also. Thanks!
Asked by: bmp111
Hi bmp111, Thank you for your question. If you have to lift the handle to turn on the pictured faucet it would be a 600 series faucet. You can use the RP54870 renovation kit to update the look to a chrome or brilliance stainless (SS) finish. You would want to cap off the push button diverter with RP2865 and then order a finish matching diverter tub spout. You would also need to replace the RP6023 shower arm, RP6025 shower flange, and the shower head of your choice.
Thanks,

Asked by: Zippy
Hello Zippy,
Thank you for your question. The Delta Renovation Kit RP54870 is designed for our Delta 600 series faucets. The handle of this unit pushes up to start the water running and you rotate it right and left to control the hot and cold water temperature. This kit comes with all of the handle trim and internal parts for an updated/upgraded look.

Thank you for your question, Timmy! When the Delta 600 Series Renovation Kit RP54870RB is installed, the lever handle continues to work the same as how the original knob handle operated. Was Model 641 with "Ball" Classic Handle from the 1970s & 80s made from Chrome or SS?
I found a Delta Parts Catalog from 1983 & was finally able to determine the fixtures in my 2 bathrooms which were installed in mid-70s are both Models 641 with the "Classic" handle (RP90) on faucet & tub spout diverter has the same ball on it. Tub Spout is the upgraded Solid Brass Diverter (RP6021). I am not replacing the shower handle, valves, etc., because they are in good shape & I like the flexibility of the cam RP61 & ball assembly RP70. I found all other replacement parts for shower arm & bathtub drain.
I was not going to change the RP6021 tub spout as it functions fine & has the solid brass diverter in it instead of the plastic diverter that come with newer spouts. Unfortunately my plumber messed up the tub spout when removing it for tiling. He stripped the threads on the reducer & I can't get the reducer off to replace it as it is frozen in place & now my husband has messed up the finish trying to get the reducer/nipple out.
To date I have not been able to find discontinued tub spout RP6021 with the diverter in the back & the "ball" on stem, so I might have to use an alternative diverter spout. Hopefully I will be able to unscrew the "button" on a new spout & replace it with my "ball" which does screw off so it will match the faucet hardware.
My question may need to be answered by an old timer. In the 1983 catalog they only show Series 600 Model 641 coming in Chrome, Gold, & Satin Gold. I am unsure if my spout is Chrome. It sure looks like Stainless Steel & has lasted 42 years. In the old days when they listed Chrome, was it really Stainless Steel? I don't see any reference to SS anywhere in the Catalog.
If I order a new replacement tub spout with diverter, I am not sure whether to order Chrome or Brilliance SS?
So did they make SS in the mid-70s & call it Chrome, or is RP6021 really Chrome?
Hopefully some old Delta employee will know the answer to this question. I have attached pics from the 1983 Catalog & also one of my shower/tub setup.
Does anyone know if I can obtain RP6021 tub spout anywhere? Are there any hanging out in your Delta warehouse?
Thanks.

RP54870PB Polished Brass 600 series trim kit still being sold?
Is the above part still being sold? There was a previous question about purchasing this trim kit with a polished brass finish and the answer said to purchase the above part number. Unfortunately, you do not list this as an available finish with the RP54870 part. I could buy just a polished brass escutcheon, but would still need the sleeve and ball cam in polished brass. I would want a handle too, but would get by with using a new crystal ball.

Hi Debbie, Thank you for your question. The RP54870PB is no longer available. The 600 Renovation kit is offered in chrome. venetian bronze, and brilliance stainless finishes.
You can still order the escutcheon RP5883PB, trim sleeve RP5893PB, cap RP50PB, and lever handle RP17443PB as individual items. If you are switching from the acrylic knob handle to a lever style you will also need the RP20111 conversion ball.

how do you replace the diverter valve assembly on a series 600 delta shower/tub faucet?
water leaks out around the diverter valve stem when in the shower position so I assume the diverter valve assembly must be replaced. If there are other ways to stop this leak please please provide details.
Asked by: walt
Hi Walt, Thank you for your question. If the push button diverter on your valve is not working properly it can be unscrewed and replaced with a new RP5649. You would need to remove the handle and round escutcheon to access the diverter. The push button diverter will unscrew in a counter-clockwise direction.

Trilobal (triangular?) cam....do I have a compatible 600 series?
After viewing the exploded diagram here (https://www.plumbingsupply.com/deltabathvalves.html#delta601), I think I have a 600 series, but the main body (the part in the wall that everything screws in to) is different.
As you can see in the attached pictures, my cam appears to be trilobal (triangular?) instead of the slotted one shown in the picture of this renovation kit. I suspect it's a RP61, as opposed to what I assume is a RP188 in this renovation kit.
Do I actually have a 600 series, and if so, is this the correct renovation kit? If it's not a 600 series, can you please tell me what I have and which rebuild kit I need?
Asked by: Chris
Thank you for your question, Chris! You do have a 600 series faucet. The trim parts (escutcheon plate, handle, screws, cap, and sleeve) will work with your faucet, as well as the seats and springs. The RP188 cam and RP20111 ball assembly are only used with models that are converting from a knob handle to the lever. For your shower, you can purchase the triangular RP61 cam and RP70 ball assembly separately or reuse the existing ones.

Alternate for the diverter plug, replacements for the housing/base and rough?
My 1970s faucet has the ball and the push button diverter. The Escutcheon Plate is in excellent shape, so I can reuse it. I think it's is comparable to the 600 series, so I plan to buy that kit. Questions:
1. Instead of getting the RP2865 push button diverter plug and then pick a tub spout that has a diverter included on it, can I just reuse the current push button diverter with my original Escutcheon Plate and the original tub spout?
2. Can I buy the part that house the 2 rubber valve seat in it? (the back of that housing there are 3 copper tubings connecting to the rough). Where can I buy it. Part number?
3. Can I still buy that rough? Part number?
Asked by: TTran
Dear TTran,
Thank you for your inquiry! Yes, you can reuse your push button diverter, escutcheon plate and tub spout with the 600 Series RP54870 faucet trim.
The part that houses the seats and springs is the rough-in valve assembly and unfortunately we no longer make the 600 series rough-in valves.

Hi Jim, Thank you for your question!
I have determined you have our 600 series tub/shower. It is a discontinued unit and none of the current trims we offer will fit onto the existing valve body. However, we do manufacture a renovation kit part number RP54870. The kit comes with the escutcheon(face plate), screws, sleeve, dome shaped cap assembly, lever handle and internal parts. You will have to order your choice of shower head, shower arm, shower flange and tub spout separate. The kit is available in Chrome, Venetian bronze and Stainless Steel finish.
