Cleanable, But, . .
Normal precipitated hard water mineral deposits (Calcium + lime) can be dissolved away by soaking in vinegar, but blocking sand deposits on orange mesh screen must be removed by prying off screen with micro-flatblade screwdriver, and back-flushing (brushing screen with clean toothbrush, poked through screen mesh). Be patient and be careful.

I have the 1.8 gpm aerator installed now. Would a 2 gpm be better to prevent early cartridge failure due to lime build up?

Thank you for your question. We are happy to help! The RP70719SS aerator is used in DST faucets. The cartridge uses diamonds and ceramic parts to prevent leaks and increase reliability.
