Installing new magnet
I just replaced a magnet in my faucet but rather than letting the hose drop down after removing the sprayer head, I tied a piece of light yarn to the hose end after running it through the center of the magnet. Let the hose go in a few inches, then put the magnet on the installation tool and install it into the faucet. Remove tool and pull hose back out, screw on faucet, done.

WHY ARE people complaining, its FREE! For life!
Anyone complaining about the price, needs to know Delta will send this to you free of charge for the life of the product as its covered by their lifetime warranty, you just need proof of purchase (they rarely ask for it) OR if you've got a whole bunch of delta products, register them to your address and name and DELTA will keep the records for you.
Delta has sent me replacement valves, magnets, cartridges, you name it for my suite of products in our home, only once have I actually been asked for proof of purchase (they say its required).
As for these magnets, when you install them, apply lots of silicone grease inside before inserting the magnet and again after around the plastic magnet. The grease isnt their to lube anything, its purpose is to keep water from sitting against the magnet and eventually penetrating and rusting the non-neodinuim magnet.

Fixed but not permanent.
Repairs the Delta design flaw. I did not pay for the repair kit. However, this should be fixed PERMANENTLY. $1200 kitchen faucet should not be repaired by the owners.

Fix your documentation
This faucet that contains this part worked well for many years. Then the facuet assembly around magnet area and magnet itself rusted and crumbled after 7 years - this part - I think. Instruction manual included with faucet is completely unclear with regards to what is necessary for fixing the problem with new parts. The spout is discontinued. A key component for fixing the magnetic attachment is shown in the document with no explanation of where it goes or that it is not included with other replacement parts. A pro would know this, but not a once in ten year get under the sink person. I ordered a hose assembly and sprayer assembly, but really needed a wand retainer --- I think.
