U6500
This item was sent to us with a "towel bar" - which is the exact size of the bar that comes with the handheld unit.. about 5/8"... however the U6500 is designed for mounting to "saftey bars" which are much larger. I believe since this comes with plastic adapters to fit a number of size bars (the towel bar is not one of them) it would be made perfect with another adapter. Now we sent the towel bar back, however kept this.. and If I can figure out how to attach a picture I will show you how we used it... we found a matching finish 18" towel bar...with removeable mounting brackets (removeable in thats its possible not easy)...we then mounted it vertically above the shower unit with the unfastened end down into the shower, attaching the U6500 onto it... making it perfect... on the safety bar we had to cut the bolt head off with a small grinder..then the bracket fell off the bar leaving only the remains of the bolt (about 1-3/4") sticking out... taking the cap off the end (plastic insert).. we could see the bracket it was mounted into... we then heated the end of the threaded piece sticking out red hot....taking a pair of huge vice grips and breaking the threads (commercial permanent locktite)...and unscrewing it...put the end cap back on... and mounted it onto the wall above the shower unit...(attached (I hope) photo). no place to attach it... will send by email....

Hand shower support
This works. Give you an extra way to support the handheld shower head. I used it on vertical grab bar , so the result is a height-adjustable support.

Here is my issue with this product in a senior living setting, those stupid adhesive gaskets/pad that constantly come off due to wear. You cant buy just that small pad instead you have to spend 40-80 on a whole new device. So no, I do not recommend this product if you work in an apartment, senior living, or a constant use setting with this. Get yourself something that actually lasts longer than a year

Handle doesn't come in contact with grab bar.
The handle doesn't make contact with the grab bar so the holder slides up and down the bar (1-1/2" grab bar). Without the handle, it can be tightened enough to hold in place. To move it, the nut has to be loosened and retightened.

Poor design, the up down handle always sticks out,
The delta design team fell flat on this awful design, its cheap plastic, it is difficult to slide up or down, and the up down handle always stays horizontal it sticks out. Also one can not adjust the angle of the hand shower, if you were in a wheelchair and wanted to point the spray on your body..... too bad so sad.

Is there another collar for the U6500 to put the paddle to the front on a 51500-SS angular modern grab bar so that the hand shower holder will tilt forward and back instead of only side to side. I am a plumbing contractor and my customer is not happy.

THE GRAB BAR COLLAR WITH THE RUBBER INSERTED CLEATS GRIP VERY WELL. HOWEVER, THEY MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO SLIDE UP AND DOWN THE GRAB BAR. SHOULD I PUT BABY OIL OR SOME SORT OF SURFACTANT TO HELP WITH MOVEMENT? I AM CONCERNED OIL AND CLAMPING FIRM

Thank you for your question regarding the Delta ADA Grab Bar Hand Shower Mount and I am happy to assist you today.
Unfortunately, we cannot recommend the use of baby oil or surfactant on our grab bars due to, as you mentioned, the mount potentially not staying in place on the bar and I apologize for the inconvenience.
The best way to make an adjustment on the mount is as follows, as stated in the Maintenance and Installation Manual:
To position your hand shower mount on your grab bar:
a. Push down or push up on the paddle to release the grip on your grab bar.
b. Slide hand shower mount to desired location.
c. Rotate hand shower to desired orientation.
d. Return paddle to center position to lock.

What are the compatible grab bars for use with this mount. I'm particularly interested in the 41724SS or a similar modern/transitional design compatible with Lahara collection.

Thank you for your inquiry. The Delta ADA Grab Bar Slide Mount U6500-SS is designed to fit 1-1/2” and 1-1/4” round grab bars, like RP32796 or Delta Angular Modern Grab bar / Slide bar 51500-SS model.

Do you have any drawings that show the adjustment angles of the handshower when installed using this part? We'd like to confirm that the handshower will not be stuck spraying against the far wall.
Thank you for your question, Nicadair! The mount can easily be adjusted as high or low on the bar as needed but this can also rotate the hand shower up or down as much as needed. This portion of the mount turns a full 360 degrees but unfortunately we do not have a drawing to show this.
