If this is an older 1400 series shower valve, please use the original cartridge that you have installed as the new 13/14 multichoice series cartridge will not fit the older valve body. Hi, Rockies4sure! Thank you for your question, and I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing a leak from your Delta faucet. If the faucet leaks, we do recommend to flush the valve to make sure no debris is caught inside that maybe causing the issue. To flush: first tun the water off at your water supply. Remove the handle, remove the sleeve assembly, unscrew the bonnet nut. Pull the cartridge assembly straight out. The cartridge can be cleaned by rinsing this out thoroughly in another sink. Once everything is removed, turn the water supply back on. This will flush the water straight through the open valve body. Keep this on for a good 30-45 seconds. Turn the water off and reinstall parts. If this does not solve the issue, the seal kit, RP4993, may need to be replaced within the valve cartridge assembly. Please know this is a WaterSense labeled model designed to produce 1.75 gpm @ 80 psi. If you are not getting this flow rate, we would suggest checking the valve body for screwdriver stops on either side. If your valve does include these stops, please make sure they are in the full "open" position. We would also recommend flushing the valve body of any debris may help remove any potential blockages. Hello, Thank you for your question! You do not have to change the rough in the wall in order to upgrade from a 1300 series to a 1700 series. However, if the rough was installed before 2006 you can't use the cartridge that would come with your new 1700 series trim. Best Regards, Tim
