Hi Amy, Thank you for your question. The lift rod connects to a strap that allows you to adjust the height for the horizontal rod. It should be long enough for most sinks, but can be extended easily using an additional strap, RP12516. The connection to the horizontal rod can be adjusted for the sink height. If the issue remains, disconnect the lift rod to see if the issue is with the movement of the horizontal rod in the drain or the movement of the lift rod in the faucet. Furthermore, I have included the cleaning instructions below and if the faucet does not seem to get better with the cleaning, please contact us back directly. Always blot dry any water from the faucet surface. Allowing water to evaporate on the surface can lead to a build-up of mineral deposits. Cleaning with a damp non-abrasive sponge and buffing it dry with a clean soft cloth should help keep your product looking beautiful. To remove water spots, use warm water and a soft, damp cloth. Hard water stains may be removed using a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and water. Make certain that you rinse the surface thoroughly with water afterward.
