We just installed this valve and finished tiling in our new shower. However it appears that I cannot get full hot water and only cold and leukwarm wat

Distance from valve to head
I would like to put the valve on a seperate wall from the shower head. How far can the shower head be from the valve? Will I have any issues with flow running the shower head supply line around a corner? Thank you.

Thank you for your question. The MultiChoice Universal R10000-UNBXHF Rough Valve Body does not have a bottom port to install a tub spout assembly. This gives the unit a higher flow for the shower head. This will give a 1.0 gpm more of a flow rate for the R10000-UNBXHF rough valve.

I am replacing delta shower diverter bath that is old with Delta Faucet T17430-MTS Innovations, Monitor R 17 Series Tub and Shower Trim. what else do i need to get to make this work? Thank you for your question! High Flow (HF) models do no have a bottom port. Any R10000 without the HF suffix will work with your trim kit.

However, if you have an existing 1700 series shower, you can use the existing valve. Simply use the original cartridge (or RP32104) rather than the cartridge that comes with the trim kit. If you have a push-button diverter, it can be capped with RP2865.

Thank you for your question, Ed82! The R10000-UNBXHF High Flow rough in valve will depend on the PSI in the home as well as the shower trim that is being used. For example, a Delta 13/14 series installed with a standard R10000 valve can produce 5.8gpm at 60psi whereas the High Flow valve will produce 6.3gpm. The highest rated trim option would be any model starting with T17T. At the maximum 80psi recommendation and used with the High Flow valve, you can expect approximately 9.9gpm.

Looking at Dryden Shower trims T17051 or T17T051
with R10000-UN or R10000-UNBXHF
Dryden 3-setting Diverter T11851
with R11000
but I want a larger shower head than the Dryden series has available/included in line. Also looking at the 16" shower arm to go with larger shower head.
What are the advantages of the 17T series over the 17 series? And am I looking at the correct shower valve bodies? Want to use the shower components separately and together.

The difference between the R10000-UN tub/shower rough and the R10000-UNBXHF shower only rough is that the UNBXHF does not have the port that gets plumbed to the tub spout, it is only used in a shower application. You will be able to select your choice of shower arm and showerhead to work with the Dryden faucet and diverter trim that you have selected.
The advantages of the 17T over the 17 series is that the thermostatic cartridge offers a higher flowrate and adjusts itself for incoming water temperatures.

Will it make a difference in amount of flow if I have the rough in with stops vs. without stops?

Thank you for your question. When using either Delta Faucet model # R10000-UNBX or R10000-UNBXHF, it will depend on which series trim is used with it. See below for the different series and flow rates all at 60 psi:
R10000-UNBX with 1300/1400 series-6.8 gpm
R10000-UNBX with 1700 series-6.0 gpm
R10000-UNBX with 17T series-7.3 gpm
R10000-UNBXHF with 1300/1400 series-7.9 gpm
R10000-UNBXHF with 1700 series-6.7 gpm
R10000-UNBXHF with 17T series-9.0 gpm
It is not possible to modify the R10000-UNBX in the high flow version. Also Delta Faucet model # R10000-UNBXHF can only be used in a shower only application.

Thank you for your question, Jack! A 17 series shower is capable of producing 4.8gpm @ 40 psi and up to 6.8gpm at 80 psi using a standard, non-high flow valve like the R10000-UNBX. This can increase up to 5.4gpm/7.7gpm when using a high flow valve. Using the TempAssure Thermostatic Trims will further increase the potential flow rate to 7.6gpm/10.9gpm.

What do I need to use with the 58469 shower head?
I've been told to use R 10000-UNBX valve for the 58469 shower head. I do not have a tub. Based on previous questions, it seems like the R 10000-UNBX HF would be a better choice. Is this correct?

Hi Coopa, Thank you for your question. In a shower only installation we do recommend using the R10000-UNBXHF. You will also need a shower trim like our model T14294-LHD that includes the valve trim, shower arm and shower arm flange. The model 58469-PK showerhead would complete the faucet.

how can I tell if the body I have is a R10000-UNBXHF or R10000-UNBX
I'm trying to confirm which shower body is installed in my shower before I install new trim. Is it possible that the body is a R10000-UNBXHF if the tub port on the bottom has a threaded end cap on it. From the pictures I see the R10000-UNBXHF port is blocked and would not accept a cap.

Thank you for your question! The R10000-UNBXHF is only designed to work with shower-only applications. The bottom port is not machined and does not require a cap. An R10000-UNBX can work with tub and shower applications, however the tub spout port could be capped off by the installer for shower-only applications.

I am installing a new bathtub / shower system with T17T453 set and a separate handheld shower 55530. I will use the 6 way diverter T11953 to control water flow to the bathtub, rain shower and handheld shower, and replace the bathtub sprout (with diverter) comes with T17T453 using RP48333 (without diverter).
So, in my setup, shall I use R10000-UNBX and plug the bathtub port (connect the diverter to the shower port), or use R10000-UNBXHF instead? Or both would work fine?

Can the higher flow of the R10000UNBXHF be felt in the shower?
In the answer to a previous question it was stated that the flow rate for a R10000-UNBXHF with a 17T series was 9.0 gpm. I am wondering how you get a 9 gpm flow when the shower can only have a 2.5 gpm flow. Obviously I am not a plumber. When I called the help line to discuss (among other things) the difference between the 2 valves I was told that the only difference between the two was that the tub port was blocked on the HF model and that I would not get higher flow with the HF model. If this is true there seems to be no advantage to the HF model other than you would not need to block the tub port. When I am in the shower will I be able to tell the difference between the R10000-UNBX and R10000-UNBXHF models? We are on well water and our pressure varies between 60 and 40 psi. I would appreciate any information that would help to enlighten me on these matters.

Thank you for your question. We recommend using Delta Faucet model # R10000-UNBXHF when you have a shower only because the tub port is plugged and you will get more water flow through the valve. That will not increase your water flow through your showerhead but if you add more features like a handheld or jets, you will get better flow when they are used at the same time as the showerhead.

Flow rates
Model#: R10000-UNBXHF. What would be the flow rate with the Model#: T14038 trim? previous answers indicate that the rough in is up to 9 gpm however, the T14038 shows only 1.5 gpm. Is the entire drop at the shower head? or is there also a drop leaving the rough in due to the cartridge?

UNBX vs. UNBXHF in shower/hand shower application
Hi - I want to install a T17T253-SS 17T Series shower trim AND a 57530-SS Hand Shower in my shower. My tub is separate.
I am also interested in maximum water flow.

Thank you for your questions. When you say that your tub is separate, do you mean that it is on its own separate valve? If so, then feel free to use Delta Faucet model # R10000-UNBXHF. You will get 9 gpm at 80 psi with this valve but it cannot be used with a tub spout because the tub port is permanently plugged.
You can use your handshower with it with the T11886-SS trim and the R11000 diverter rough. If you are adding one extra feature,like the handshower, use the 3-setting trim. If you are adding two extra features, like a handshower and another showerhead, then use the 6-setting trim.
Screwdriver stops are put on the valve when the user wants to work on the valve without turning off the water in the rest of the house. Using the screwdriver stops will change your flow rate to 7.6 gpm at 80 psi.
It is okay to use the Arzo diverter trim with the Vero shower tirm. It is a personal preference.

Why does the shower handle stop at a certain spot instead of turning all the way to "H"?
My shower handle does not turn all the way to "H" it instead stops in between "H" and "C" Is there a way to override the stop control so that the handle will turn all the way to H?

The Delta MultiChoice Universal Rough-In Valve R10000-UNBXHF is specifically designed with a capped tub spout port to provide the maximum flow rate to the shower head. The maximum flow rate will depend on the type of trim that you use and the water pressure in the home. For example, 13/14 series used with the High Flow rough-in valve will give you approximately 7.3 GPM, a T17 series will give you 7.7 GPM, and a T17T series will give you 10.9 GPM all at 80 PSI.
With a R10000-UNBX at 60 PSI, a 13/14 series can produce up to 5.8 gpm but at 80 psi this can go as high as 6.8 gpm. A 17 series can produce approximately 5.9 gpm to 6.8 gpm at these rates whereas the 17T trims can produce anywhere from 7.3 gpm to 8.5 gpm.

I have a stand alone tub. Can I use a Monitor 14 Series H2O Kinetic shower trim and the R10000-UNBXHF (high flow) valve to fill the tub? I already have this same product for the shower and want to keep the same look for the tub.

Yes it can! You can simply flip the valve body over! There is no bottom port on this unit and the water inlet ports are directly in the center of the body, so there is absolutely no reason it cannot be flipped upside down!

Hi Loriboy, Thank you for your question. The screwdriver stops on the R10000-UNWSHF allow you to shut the water off at the faucet. The stops when closed shut off the hot and cold water supplies to the faucet. This will allow you to do maintainance or repair the faucet without shutting the water off to the rest of the house.

Why is flow rate higher with 17T trim vs. 1700 trim?
We are installing new shower fixtures, using R10000 UNBXHF valve (no tub, shower head, 4 body sprays and possibly hand held). We're looking for maximum flow rate. In answer to a previous question, you stated that the flow rate would be 6.7 gpm if we used the 1700 trim and 9 gpm if we used the 17T trim. Can you explain WHY flow rate is higher for thermostatic vs pressure balance? Thank you

Thank you for your question. The ports inside a pressure balanced cartridge like on the 1700 series are more restrictive than on a thermostatic cartridge like the 17T series cartridges. This allows more water to flow at a faster rate through the thermostatic cartridge.
