Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy ordering and exactly what we needed I was happy to find a kit with all of the pieces I needed for our bathroom in one place, and especially grateful that I did not have to think hard about which valves were needed. Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2 thumbs up This is my favorite rough in valve. The built in shutoffs are super convenient in the installation process, but also, if the cartridge ever needs to be cleaned or worked on, you can shut off the water right at the valve.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked well, easy to install We got the one without the bottom fitting for the tub as it's just a shower and this made for one less fitting to solder. It's described as a high flow but that was one disappointment with the delta system is the flow is a little low. I think hand held/fixed shower head combo is the problem. I'm going to check it to see if there's a flow reducer that I can remove or drill out.

R10000-UNBXHF in a tub only installation?

Can the R10000-UNBXHF be used in a tub only installation? It seems the higher flow from the "HF" would be useful to filling a large tub faster.
Asked by: Rudy
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # R10000-UNBXHF is a shower only installation. The tub port is permanently plugged.

Mounting of R10000-UNBXHF

Hi, I am looking at the install instructions and see that I have to mount the valve 70mm from the support to the shower wall but your diagram makes it look like it the 70mm it to the back of the shower wall, which wouldn't account for tiles, mortar and thickness of backboard. So I am assuming it means 70mm from the mounting support to the far side of the finished tile? Sorry, hard to describe what I mean. Could you provide some clarification?
Asked by: Brett
Hi Brett, Thank you for your question! The measurement is from your stringer out to the front of the plaster guard supplied with the valve. The front of the plaster guard is where your finished wall would be. Best regards, Brandis

Does R10000-UNBXHF work with 2 shower system?

I have an overhead shower (a) and a hand shower spray (b). Is the R1000-UNBXHF the correct rough in to use, or the non-HF? I want to be able to have water coming out of the overhead (a) or hand shower (b) separately (a or b) or together (a&b). Is there a valve trim that would include a diverter that allows me to (1) control hot/cold water temp and (2) control either a or b, or a & b? I want to have 1 single lever that controls everything rather than having two, one contolling water temp and the other controlling flow. thanks
Asked by: 93NTA
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # R10000-UNBXHF is a valve used to turn the water on and off. It does not divert the water to other features. You will need a trim which can be an shower only series 1300/1400 or 1700 series. Once you have chosen your series, there should be a 3 or 6 port diverter trim to match it. You will need the R11000 diverter rough and then if you are only adding the handshower, you will need a 3-setting 2-port diverter trim to match.

R10000vs R11000

I have the complete shower set, T17253 with r10,000 rough in valve. My handheld in the shower will be on the adjacent wall. The handheld package did not come with a trim kit. I need the T17053 trim kit but that costs almost as much as the complete shower package. I looked at the t11853. My rough i n valve for the handheld is r10,000. T11853 says it wants the r11,000 Can I get a decent price on the t 17053 trim kit Can I use the r10,000 on the t11853 Why didn't my handheld come with a trim kit I do,have a plumber on this remodeling project What's a girl to do? Thank you
Asked by: Pj
Hi Pj, Thank you for your question. The T17253 trim and the R10000 rough in give you a complete faucet. By adding the handheld showerhead you need to add a way to supply and control what is now the 2nd showerhead. The T11853 trim and R11000 diverter rough in will allow you to do this. The R11000 is plumbed above the R10000 out of the shower port. You then plumb the 2 showerheads out of the R11000 diverter valve. This valve allows you to use the showerheads individually or at the same time. You may also need the model 50570 wall elbow to complete this installation depending on which type of handheld shower you selected. Thanks, Dave

Flow rates for R100000 UNBX vs - WS?

What are the flow rates for each at a given psi eg 60 ? In the WS (With Stop) version It seems all the water is funneled through a small opening (about 1/4 " ), in order for the stops to be able to work. I am wondering if this affects the flow rate even when the stops are all the way open. I haven't seen the inside of regular version, does it also have this narrowing? The stops may come in handy , but i don't really require them, since there's a shutoff for the bathroom. But I don't want to trade a "nice to have" thing for a loss in performance. FYI I 've ordered the Delta T17494-SS-I Linden Monitor 17 shower / tub 2.5 GPM
Asked by: brooklynjeff
Hi BrooklynJeff, Thank you for your question. The flow rate of a T17494-SS-I trim at 60 psi using the R10000-UNWS would be 5.73 gpm from the spout and 5.55 gpm from the shower. The flow rates using the R10000-UNWS with the same trim and pressure would be 6.15 gpm from the spout and 5.92 gpm from the shower. Thanks, Dave

What is the flow rate for the high flow universal shower valve? Gallons per minute

Will this valve work with dual raincan showerhead and handheld shower?

I am doing a shower only application, but will have both a ceiling mounted raincan shower head (RP50841) and a handheld shower (51505-DS). I see that this valve is shower only and like the high flow feature (assume that means strongest possible flow?) but want to make sure that it will work with the dual shower application.
Asked by: Lynn
Hi Lynn, Thank you for your question. This valve will provide enough flow to run both the raincan shower head and hand shower at 60-80 PSI. To switch between running each one individually or together you will also need a 3-setting diverter. Best regards, Jon

Asked by: matt
Hi, Matt! Thank you for your question. Plugging the bottom port of the MultiChoice R10000-UNBX will give the same flow rate as the R10000-UNBXHF. There is no flow difference. Best Regards, Rosanna

Valve availability for 1323 and valve flow rate comparison

Converting half bath to full bath. Will have shower (no tub) and 3-setting diverter to handheld. My wife and I thought we had found perfect trim in the 1303/1323 for this stage in our life-big blade handles are easier to grasp & we've had them before. Answers in this forum recommend the R10000UNBXHF valve for shower only which makes good sense. However, it appears 1303 (trim only) is discontinued, and 1323 comes with the R10000UNBX. 1. So, how can we get the 1323 with the R10000UNBXHF valve instead of the R10000UNBX? 2. I've gotten the impression in this forum that valves with stops have a lower flow rate than valves without stops. So, what are the flow rates of R10000UNBXHF compared to R10000UNWSHF? 3. Stops sound like a good idea, However, if the flow rates are different in question #2, which valve do you recommend for our situation (shower only and 3-setting diverter to handheld)?
Asked by: Fred
Hi Fred, Thank you for your questions. The flow that you will get from the valve will partly depend on the PSI in the home. To use a different valve than the UNBX model, you would need to purchase it separately from the 1323 trim. However, with the shower head and a standard 2.5 GPM or less hand shower, you will only be using up to 4.5 gallons per minute. At 60PSI, you will not need to worry about using the HF valve to get enough flow, and the With Stops versions will still allow you enough flow as well. At 60 PSI with a 13 series trim the R10000-UNBX valve will allow 5.8 GPM from the shower port. The UNBXHF will allow approximately 5.8 GPM. The UNWSHF will allow about 5.1 GPM. Thanks, Jon

Is the R10000-UNBXHF valve compatible with T17251-SS trim?

I have a T17251-SS shower trim kit. I look up this kit's matching rough-in valve on your web site, but the web page does not list R10000-UNBXHF as one of the compatible valves. Is this a typo or overlook by your web design team or this valve is actually not compatible with the T17251-SS trim? I only need this valve for my shower project. With this valve, I don't need to plug the tub port and the price is lower.

What is the difference b/w R10000-UNBX and the R10000-UNBXHF? Obviously, it is the flow-rate, however, can the R10000-UNBXHF be used in conjunction with the R11000 or is the HF rate then irrelevant? Also, what is the max flow rate given @ ~50PSI Vs. 80?

Asked by: Shower Upgrader
Hi, Shower Upgrader! Thank you for your question. The difference for the two units is that the R100000-UNBX has a bottom port for a tub spout installation and the R10000-UNBXHF does not include a bottom port for a tub spout installation. Both units can be used with the R11000 diverter rough. The flow rate is determined when the trim kit is selected. How can you increase the hot water flow? Water gets too cold when filling tub.

Asked by: mike
Hi Mike, Thank you for your question. If the issue is water temperature the faucet has a rotational limit stop that allows you to set the high water temperature. If flow rate is the issue the trim you select will determine that. The 17 series at 80PSI has a flow rate of 6.98 gallons per minute, The 13/14 Series is 7.96gpm, and the 17T Series is 8.53 gpm when used with the R10000-UNBX. Thanks, Dave

Why do I need both the R10000-UNWS and the R11000 valve?

We are installing the Dryden showerhead and a handheld shower head. There is no tub. Why do we need both of R10000 and the R11000 valves? Can't we get by with just the R10000? Additionally, we have low water pressure in some parts of the house. Will these valves provide abundant water from one or both showerheads (can we have flow from both heads simultaneously)? Thank you!
Asked by: The House on Zagt Lane
Hi The House on Zagt Lane, Thank you for your question. The R10000-UNWS is the rough in valve to the faucet and the R11000 is the diverter rough that directs the water where to go. The diverter will allow you to use the fixed showerhead, the handheld showerhead , or both at the same time. If you do not install the R11000 you would need to add a shower arm diverter like our U4929-PK to switch between the showerheads. To insure you have sufficient water flow to the showerheads we recommend using the T17T thermostatic trim which offers the highest flow rate. Thanks, Dave

Recomendation as to why or why not to instal R10000UNBXHF vs R10000UNBX? define the "HF" feature? I will have a Monitor 14 series T/S in one and a Linden T17094 in shower only. Can the HF model be used in the tub/shower combo? If not, why? Thanks.

Asked by: DW 2179
Thank you for your question, DW 2179! Model T17094 can be used with either rough in, however if you plan on using a tub spout to fill a bath tub, you will want to use the R10000-UNBX as the R10000-UNBXHF is a "High Flow" valve intended for shower-only installations and has a pre-capped tub spout port. What is the difference between R10000-UNWS and R10000-UNBXHF relative to "flow rate"?  Why is the UNBXHF referred to as "high flow"? I want the most flow/pressure possible for my shower only (no tub) remodel? Which should I purchase? thx

Asked by: al5zking
Thank you for your question, al5zking! The R10000-UNBXHF is specifically designed with a capped tub spout port to provide the maximum flow rate to the shower head. The maximum flow rate will depend on the type of trim that you use and the water pressure in the home. For example, 13/14 series used with the High Flow rough-in valve will give you approximately 7.3 GPM, a T17 series will give you 7.7 GPM, and a T17T series will give you 10.9 GPM all at 80 PSI. low pressure situation, what is the best valve body and diverter setup

I am installing a bath in a NYC apartment with poor pressure, hoping not to have to install booster pumps. Average pressure is 16 psi. I would like to have a rainhead and a shower wand - but understand probably won't be able to operate both at the same time. I would like a thermostatic valve so when multiple toilets are flushed in floors below the person taking a shower is not scalded, or frozen when multiple users below turn on the hot water. Which valve body should I use? Will a "high flow" body help when there is low pressure? Do I need a temperature valve and a separate diverter? What if I added a tub to the mix? Thank you for the help.
Asked by: Peter
Hi Peter, Thank you for your question! Our TempAssure thermostatic tub/showers keep the water temperature in your shower within a safe ±3.6° F. However, below 30 PSI you will begin to see significant reduction in the flow rate. Our high flow valves allow for a higher maximum flow rate, but unfortunately do no help with low pressure from the supplies. Thanks, Jon
