I believe I have an old classic 13 series shower knob, I am trying to replace the parts, will this fit?

No, this diverter trim kit is for the R11000 diverter rough-in valve which only switches the flow of water to different showering components. Please see the following link for valve trim kits that will replace your current 13 series.

By chance, does Delta offer a larger escutcheon plate for this valve? We installed this one in our home and the 4.5" does not quite cover the corners.
