I was so excited to get a faucet with the dual controls for volume and temperature, but am very disappointed by the performance. The water is hot when the volume is all the way up (as with any faucet handle), but when I try to reduce the flow, the temperature also changes to cold (even though the temperature handle remains dialed to hot). This is the same awful functionality I had before with the single control faucet. I want to be able to have low volume for a minute or two without freezing to death! I will say that my very capable plumber really struggled to get this installed because there were no instructions included in the package. Now that I've found the online manual I will show it to him to double check the installation, and will update my review if we find an error. But for now, this product is not living up to its advertisement.

Perfect until it wasn’t
Exactly what I wanted to compliment my shower. Everything you need in one piece except the shower head. ONE MAJOR PROBLEM: blue to red water temperature indicator became loose and peeled off before it was ever used. I’ve wanted a replacement except I don’t want to have to pay a plumber to remove and reinstall the replacement.

Worst shower faucet I've had in 60 years
I give this 1 star because no stars isn't an option. My 15 year old Delta shower faucet started leaking so had plumber install in a new one. He selected this. His reasoning was you can set the temp and never move it. Reality? No you can't because there is more than one person in the house and even if it was just me, that still doesn't work. The water flow is so restricted (1.7gpm) that if I leave it set it takes several minutes for the shower to reach temp. Turning it to full hot, it still takes close to a minute and my shower is less than 10 feet from the water heater. Next problem is the scald guard. Had to remove it and cut about 1/2 of it off in order for water to get hot enough to satisfy my wife, this after turning the water heater up to 145. The 1.7gpm renders my 2.5gpm shower head virtually useless due to lack of pressure. Lastly, the quality. While the trim ring and main handle are metal, the temp control handle is just a thin metal cap over plastic which makes for very poor fit and finish. We've been using this thing for about a month now and I can already tell the inside that actually hold it to the mechanics will break by the end of the year. Final take, this is a very cheap faucet that will require a complete replacement within a few years. For reference, my house is 32 years old and this i only the 3rd faucet we've had in the shower, replaced in the past due to the parts to service the valve being discontinued.

Why is the oring packaged in the same plastic bag with the bolts/hardware? I hope my trim does not leak once I install it because of a damaged oring.
Hi paprikaspiroska, Thank you for your question. The o-ring in the photo goes under the trim sleeve that covers up the valve body and helps hold the trim sleeve in place. The o-ring is not used to seal water from leaking.

How is the temperature knob removed? I can only find installation instructions, not removal. It's very lightweight plastic, and I don't want to snap anything by removing it incorrectly. I'd like to adjust the temperature. Thank you.

Thank you for your question. The front temperature dial of the Delta Lahara Valve Trim T17038-SS model can be removed by grasping the peice on either side of the part and squeezing together gently. Then grasp the small handle and pull the cover off. You can also use a flathead screwdriver to pry it off.

Will the T17038 trim kit work with a 1500 series valve?

Thank you for your question. The Delta Monitor T17038 Trim Kit will fit the Delta 1500 Series Valve if the original escutcheon plate has the screw holes at the 1 & 7 o'clock position. The new cartridge, RP46463, that is included with the Monitor T17038 Trim Kit, will not fit the 1500 Series Valve. The original cartridge, RP32104, will need to be used. Is the 3 setting Diverter Trim Kit T11800SS the same Brilliance Stainless finish as the Lahara Monitor 17 Series Trim Kit T17038SS?
I see in an earlier question and answer that the recommended 3-setting Diverter Trim Kit to go with the Lahara Monitor 17 Series Valve Trim (T17038SS) is the (T11800SS) from the Innovations Collection. That one shows "Stainless Steel" as the finish, as opposed to the "Brilliance Stainless" finish on the Lahara Collection. Are they the exact same finish?

Thank you for your question! Yes, the trim will include the necessary cartridge and seals for a MultiChoice R10000 valve. If you are using an pre-2006 1700 Series valve, you will need to use the original cartridge or a new RP32104 Cartridge & Seals.

How does 17094 compare with 17038 other than appearance? Are they comparable as far as features? The descriptions are presented differently but seem to be the same. Thank you.

Will the Lahara 17038 Shower Trim Kit work the pre-2006, 1700 series valve? Will other "17 Series" kits fit "1700 Series" valves?

Thank you for your question. Yes, as long as the screw holes on your original large round escutcheon plate are at the 1 and 7 o'clock positions and you do not have a push button shower diverter directly below the off and on handle, then the Delta Lahara Valve Trim T17038 or any of the Delta valve trim kits that start with a T17, except for the T17T series trim kits will interchange for you. The cartridges (RP46463, gray top cap) that come with the new trim kits will not fit your valve body, so you will need to reuse your existing cartridge (RP32104, white top cap).

How do I adjust the hot water flow to allow more hot water trough the valve? My water heater is set near the hottest setting and my other shower valve allows the water through the shower head to be much hotter.

Additional parts needed to operate 2 shower heads
We plan to have two shower heads and want to be able to operate both together (same temperature control) as well as turn only one on at a time. What Lahara faucet trim and behind the wall parts are needed to make this happen? Please advise rough in valve and whether diverter(s) are needed. Thanks.
Hi mmc115, Thank you for your question. In a shower only application we would recommend using the R10000-UNBXHF rough to go with your T17038-SS trim. To operate the showerheads individually or at the same time you will need the R11000 diverter rough and the 3 setting matching Lahara trim T11800-SS.

I have a Delta Monitor 1500 shower faucet. I am looking at the T17038 kit and wondering if this trim kit will work with my existing 1500.I know there is an existing brass nut that goes on behind temp control, but don't see nut reused in instructions.

Thank you for your question about the Delta Faucet model T17038-RB.
If the escutcheon screws of the 1500 faucet are to the top-right and bottom-left of the handle, like the T17038-RB, the T17038-RB and any current MultiChoice® T17 series trim will work as long as they use the RP32104 cartridge from the 1500 faucet.
The brass bonnet nut would be reused for the RP32104 cartridge instead of using the new cartridge included in the trim kit.

How do you remove the flow control handle to get to the cartridge? There is no set screw on the handle and it will not simply pull off? To be clear, this is the large handle not the temp control knob or the plastic temp. control sensor.

Our 17 series showers have 2 handles. The large handle is for volume, the smaller handle is for temperature. Rotate the temperature knob clockwise for cooler water, and rotate counterclockwise for hotter water.

Existing Delta Monitor 1500 shower faucet. Will use T17038 trim only to change color. Previous reply says it will work using my existing cartridge RP32104. What about existing nut RP16212 between temp contrl handl and volum contrl handl? Is this reused?

Thanks so much for contacting Delta Faucet Company about, T17038! I am sorry for any confusion, if the 1500 series is upgraded using the RP29405 renovation kit it would include the bonnet nut. However, with the T17038 trim kit, the RP22734 bonnet nut would need to be purchased for the product to fit properly.

I recently installed the T17038 with the recommended valve (‎RJDIBAN ‎R10000-UNBX). All looks and seems to work great only I'm not sure that the water pressure lever is allowing for maximum available water flow. The flow doesn't begin until 3/4 on.

To remove it, you will need to push in on the back of the handle blade. This will pop the dial off. You can also use a flathead screwdriver to pry it off.

What valve rough is needed? We are replacing a pre 1968 mixet shower valve with volume and temp control; it appears this valve may function similarly.
