Short-lived cartridges
I have been a both a Delta installer and customer since the mid-1990's. I had trusted them and recommended them to customers time after time. In 2015, I remodeled the bathrooms in our home and replaced the original construction Moen faucets and valves with Delta products. In the master bath, I installed the Lahara 1700 series valve and trim. To date, I have been forced to replace the cartridge assembly four times. That is four times in 3-1/2 years. At an average of $56 per replacement, I have now spent more replacing the cartridges than I paid for the valve to begin with. The Moen valve that was original to the home was still operating perfectly with the original inner workings and had never been repaired or replaced. The Moen was still functioning properly after 22 years of daily use. The Delta, on the other hand, averaged just 328 days of use before the cartridge required replacement. After contacting Delta customer service the first time, I was told that it was potentially my water quality (treated city water) causing the problem. The second time, I received the same diagnosis. I gave up after the third time as the other valves in my home are working flawlessly. I would not recommend this valve and at this time have stopped recommending Delta to my customers as well.

Great pressure balanced unity, but more of a plastic feel
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It does its job and has a solid cartridge. It does feel more on the plastic end for me. If that isn't an issue, I recommend this as a reliable valve kit unit.

Great looking and a great value
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These are hard to beat. Simple, good looking and reasonably priced. I have them in brushed stainless and oil rubbed bronze. Definitely not as sturdy as my Moen but much less expensive and a simpler design.

Love the temp and pressure control
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this Delta faucet about 1 year ago while remodeling our master bathroom. I love the ability to control the temperature, as well as, control the pressure of the water. Sometimes I don't wash my hair and need a lighter pressure so it doesn't get all wet. My only complaint is the finish looks kind of yellow. I believe I got the stainless steel or whatever this faucet's version of that is. It is more gold or yellow than all my other finishes.

For the control freak

It stays shiny and just needs to be dried after showering. Would have like the temp control knob to be of metal instead of plastic.

Master Bathroom Re-model

basic features
as close to a basic handle style and design that we were looking for. Not to impressed by the extra handle for temperature regulation, you still have to wait for the hot water to come through the pipes. Keep it easy, one handle for on/off and temperature regulation.

Great for retrofit of a 13/14 series handle
I was replacing one of the 13/14 series handles -- the kind that turns on cold and then you turn it towards hot.
Note that this contains the cartridge part number RP46463, so if you already have the rough-in valve body in the wall, this is what you need. Take off the 13/14 trim, pull out the cartridge, install the adapter part that screws into the valve body, put in the new cartridge, and install the new trim. Now you have independent temperature and flow volume control. It is great for saving water.

Selected the Lahara series based on looks, functionality was the added bonus! My plumber recommended that I buy the Delta 17000 series because the temperature can be set and left in place so it's always the right temp.

trade offs...
I bought this unit to replace a Delta Windemere faucet. The trade off is getting the ability to control water temp, but with a shorter range of flow for water volume. Also, the way the mechanism works, you can get cold water at any volume, but only hot water at high volume. The temp control handle also moves with the volume control handle, so the water gets colder whenever you adjust the flow. We will learn to live with it, but I wish it was not so restrictive.

good quality valve trim
Nice simple design. It wasn't exactly what I needed though, so I had to return it and buy the Delta T17038-SS Lahara Double Handle Pressure Balanced Valve Trim Only with Metal. There were no problems with the return.

When I order T17038, what parts are included? The parts list I pulled up related to this # showed accessories as well as faucet parts and I couldn't distinguish. Thanks.

Thank you for your question. The Delta Lahara T17038 is a dual control Valve only trim kit. This kit included the escutcheon plate, screws, trim sleeve, cartridge assembly and volume and temperature handles.

I have a similar Delta Lahara 17 dual shower handle. The plastic internal grip teeth the main handle attaches to have stripped. Can I replace this part only? I have a picture I could send to be sure of my model and part needed. Please advise?

What accessories go with this?
I am planning a tub to shower conversion and do not plan on having the tub spout at all. I have # 57014 showerhead and sliding bar, # 50560 elbow, and understand I need # R1000-UNBX valve. If I get T17038, is that everything I need for a new shower only setup? Thanks!

what is the differences between 17t series and 17 series?
does either cartridge need to be maintained?

Thank you for your question! Both series operate the same and do not require regular maintenance. The Monitor 17 series is pressure balanced. The TempAssure 17T series is thermostatic, which provides a more precise temperature control. The 17T series will also provide more flow from the valve if you are building a customer shower with multiple components.

Do I need to caulk around the edges of the trim against the tile?

Why is the oring packaged in the same plastic bag with the bolts/hardware? I hope my trim does not leak once I install it because of a damaged oring.
Hi paprikaspiroska, Thank you for your question. The o-ring in the photo goes under the trim sleeve that covers up the valve body and helps hold the trim sleeve in place. The o-ring is not used to seal water from leaking.

Will the T17038 trim kit work with a 1500 series valve?

Thank you for your question. The Delta Monitor T17038 Trim Kit will fit the Delta 1500 Series Valve if the original escutcheon plate has the screw holes at the 1 & 7 o'clock position. The new cartridge, RP46463, that is included with the Monitor T17038 Trim Kit, will not fit the 1500 Series Valve. The original cartridge, RP32104, will need to be used.
