Lovely temperature control great faucet!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Delta tub/shower faucet offers separate water volume and temperature controls making it a preferred faucet. The temperature control stays at the place you last left it so that you are not needing to do a complete hunt and seek for the correct temperature every time you get in the shower. The shower head offers several options for spray pattern.

Adjustments and water spots
I'd ordered in the 17 series after reading other reviews that claimed this series was a better unit. I was disappointed to find alot of plastic in the fixture and the head of the shower dies not adjust left or right much at all. It is also awkward to change the shower flow on the shower head. Worst of all, the faucet and cover plate are badly spotted from water and no matter what I try to clean it with, I cannot get them off. They showed up immediately after we started using the shower in our new home. We purchased ALL Delta faucets as recommended by our builder and are noticing water spots on ALL of them. Found out AFTER they'd been installed that alot of the parts were plastic!!!! Disappointed. Please ask Delta how to clean the cheap plastic they use on their fixtures!

Q&A
can I run 5 gpm @ +/- 65 psi through Delta Monitor Shower Valve
I have a 12 year old home with a Delta Monitor valve in the Master bath shower. I am planning to remodel the bath room and would like to install 2 - 2.5gpm shower heads. Can this valve handle the flow volume? The water lines in the home are 3/4" and reduced at the valve. Meter is 1" and service line to house is 1.5" so Valve would be restriction point. Water pressure is over 70psi on city main.
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # T17430 paired with the R10000-UNBX will flow at 6.0 gpm at 60 psi. We would recommend looping your showerheads behind the wall so they come into one port and you do not lose pressure. The fewer elbow turns you have, the better your pressure will be.

How can the HOT water be adjusted to allow MORE hot than cold?
Hot water is not hot enough. Is there an adjustment to open HOT water valve more?
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # T17430 contains a rotational limit stop that may need adjusting to allow more hot water to flow through the valve. Included here are the maintenance and installation instructions for your faucet. The directions for adjusting the limit stop are on page 9.

Do you make a water controller that has a back plate that is 7 5/8" or bigger in Brushed Nickel that has the features of the T17430. I presently have everything but it is gold and I would like to change them to Brushed Nickel. Thank you.

Although many standard escutcheon plates with the same hole placement will work, we have limited options in Brushed Nickel such as RP61184BN which is only 7" however our Stainless Steel finish is a very close match so you could instead use the 7 1/2" plate RP28795SS. Furthermore the Victorian trim ring, part number RP34359SS is 8" long and 7-3/4" tall and could be used with any 7" escutcheon plate.

Can you clarify differences between the 3 Classic Monitor 17 Series models?
T17430 (and -MTS and -SOS) have separate volume controls, but only the -SOS is listed as having the dual-function pressure balance cartridge. "Understanding Delta Valve Cartridges" says the dual function cartridge supports separate volume control, but does not say that for the single function cartridge. This seems contradictory - how does the T-17430 and T-17430-MTS with single function cartridges provide for separate volume control? Also, I 'd like to verify whether the spouts for T-17430 and the -SOS are plastic or metal.

Thank you for your questions. All three models have the dual-function pressure balance cartridge. The tub spouts for T17430 and T17430-MTS are metallic while the tub spout for T17430-SOS is nonmetallic.

Can the cartridge be put in upside down?
I have a problem that when you try to adjust water temperature the hot and cold are in reversed position.
Hi Mike, Thank you for your question. It is possible for the RP46463 cartridge in your 17 series faucet to be installed upside down. Removing the cartridge, rotating it 180 degrees and reinstalling the cartridge should solve your issue. Make sure the words "hot side" on the cartridge match up with your hot water supply side.

Tankless Water Heater
My tankless water heater can only produce 3.5 GPM of Hot Water in the winter months. Which Delta shower valves can adjust volume and temperature to slow the tub fill to this fill rate in the winter so I can use my tub with hot water?
Hi Ron, Thank you for your question. We do not offer a valve that can limit the water flow to 3.5 gallons per minute. Our 17 series faucets offer separate volume and temperature control that would allow the user to reduce the flow rate manually based on where they position the volume lever.

The Delta Faucet CLASSIC Monitor 17 Series Tub & Shower Trim MODEL# T17430-SS uses the RP46463 cartridge if the rough-in valve was installed from 2006 to the present. If your rough-in valve was installed before 2006 you would use the RP32104 cartridge.

Just moved into a new house that has this tub and shower model. Maybe I'm dumb, but I have no idea how to divert the water from the tub into the showerhead. What valve or button do I activate in order to get water out of the showerhead?

Our water temperature smaller lever is upside down - it was put on facing down instead of up - can I easily get it off and switch it, without it breaking. Also it isn't flush like it should be

How can I determine the manufacture date of my faucet? Cartridge replacements seem to be based on faucets made prior to April 2006 or after April 2006. Thank you

Correct in 2006 we updated all of our valves to a universal R10000, If you remove the handle to your shower unit you will be able to see the color. If the cartridge was installed prior to 2006 the top half of the cartridge is white(RP19804), if it was installed after 2006 then the top half of the cartridge would be grey(RP46074.

Can a person taking a shower adjust the angle of the shower head? Typically a person taking a shower can grab the shower head and manually tilt it upward or downward, but I can't find anything in the specs or websites indicating this model can do that.

Our Delta CLASSIC Monitor 17 Series Tub And Shower Trim MODEL#: T17430-NN can be changed into any of our 13/14 series single handles. You will need to make sure you have a new style grey cartridge RP46463 inside the valve now. To make the parts interchangeable you will need part number RP46074 cartridge to change the handle into a single handle. Here are examples of the parts you will need.

What type of chrome finish does this faucet (T17430, Monito 17 Series) have. Is it a standard shiny chrome look or is it the highly reflective, mirror like finish? It is difficult to tell in pictures and this model is typically not in showrooms.
