Hello Penny, Thank you for contacting us. I am happy to help you! Models manufactured in September 2006 or later will have a MultiChoice valve, which will allow you to change the series of trim. MultiChoice series numbers are 13, 14, 17, or 17T. Units made before this date can be upgraded, but only with a trim of the corresponding series. 1300/1400 Series trims can be replaced with 13/14 Series trim kits using the original RP19804 cartridge, and 1700 Series trims can be replaced with 17 Series trim kits using the RP32104 cartridge. MultiChoice model cartridges will have a gray top; prior models have a white top. There are no differences in the types of showerheads between the Delta Faucet 14 and 17 series. The main difference is that with the 17 Series of valve trim kits there is independent temperature and volume control. While pushing gently with your thumb pull the hand shower towards you. You will do this when placing it back in place and you will hear a click. We appreciate your inquiry.
