Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dissapointed! Love the color, but only purchase if you don’t mind water spots. Installed this in my newly remolded bathroom and am beyond frustrated with cleaning it daily to look decent. We installed the Delta tetra model in the other bathrooms and they do not have this issue.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Made cheaply despite not-cheap price Very plastic and the pieces don't all fit together right. The temperature knob wiggles back and forth! Also the two knobs do not move independently; I have to hold one to move the other one. I spent way more money on this set than it's worth.

Q&A

We have the R1000-UNBX universal mount with this faucet. Why are we getting water out of the shower piece when we turn on the hot? We don't have

the shower activated but we are getting water out of the shower valve. The hot water is not hot. It is hot coming out of other faucets.
Asked by: Angie
Hi Angie, We are sorry that you are experiencing a problem with your faucet. Most likely, you are experiencing "shower-rise" where the water can’t get out of the spout as fast as it flows through the valve. This causes the water to back up and come out the shower head. There can be one of several reasons for this: The valve could be upside down The length from the valve to the tub spout is outside of the 8" to 18" rule There is more than one 90-degree angle Something other than copper or galvanized pipe was used going to the spout The most common reason is that there is something restricting the water flow to the spout, e.g. solder or something lodged in the pipe. Something is impeding the flow of water to the spout and causing it to back up and go out the shower head. If this is the cause of shower-rise it is possible to remove the blockage by removing the tub spout; then, feeding a plumber’s snake or a speedometer cable up through the tub drop. The act of feeding it causes it to twirl and loosen the blockage. Be sure to flush the valve before reinstalling the tub spout. Be sure to check the tub spout itself for blockage. If none of these help, you may need to call a plumber. After the shower has been installed and the wall has been closed, there is little that can be done to remedy this situation yourself. Your faucet is equipped with a rotational limit stop that allows you to set the max hot water temperature on your faucet. Making the adjustment to this piece will raise the water temperature in the faucet. Here is a link to the How to adjust the rotational limit stop video. The 17 series portion of the video starts at 1:50 into the video. http://www.deltafaucet.com/shopping-tools/research/video-gallery/video.html?v=n2_uZ7wgV1I&cat= Thanks, Dave

What diverter trim is needed for T-17438-ss Lahara Monitor17 series?

I am having a new tub and shower installed. I would like to add the 57021-ss handheld with bar as well. I believe that I need to also purchase the 50560-22 elbow along with the R1000-unbx valve and the R11000 diverter valve so that I can have the hand held work in tandem or separately. My question is, what diverter trim is needed for the R11000 valve to have everything match? I also will purchase the RP693-ss waste assembly but would like to know if that is everything I need or am I forgetting to purchase a part needed to finish this project? Also, I was told at one of the big box stores that even if I purchase the R11000 diverter, I still need to have the diverter at the tub as well. Is this true? Please explain. Thank you.
Asked by: Vicki
Hi Vicki, If you are adding just the Delta Faucet model # 57021-SS to your T17438-SS, you will need the T11800-SS diverter trim to complete your faucet. If you add another feature, like jets or another showerhead, you will need the T11900-SS. We recommend that you use a tub spout diverter when hooking everything up because if you divert the water using your R11000 diverter rough to your tub spout, there will be times when your showerhead and tub spout are on at the same time. Thanks. Jody

Can I install T17438 trim in an existing 1400 series rough-in?

My plumber inspected and said this would work but on disassembly I discovered the new cartridge adaptor RP46973 did not fit the bore of the old rough-in. Is there a different PN adaptor available for installing the new cartridge RP46463 in a 1400 series rough-in? See attached photo showing differences in old and new parts.
Asked by: Ron
Hi Ron, Thank you for your question! You have a older 13/1400 series tub/shower. You will not be able to switch over to a T17 series without changing the valve body. Your unit can only use a T13 or T14 series trim but you will have to use an existing RP19804 valve cartridge and not the new multi choice cartridges included in our current trims. Best regards, Brandis

Can I use my existing rough-in?

I am updating my bath fixtures with the Lahara Monitor 17 Series Tub and Shower Trim. The Lahara will be replacing existing Delta Monitor fixtures (I'm unsure of the trim line or part #s), and there is no change in layout or addition of extra features like a 2nd shower head or jets. Can I use the rough-in that is already installed, or do I need to purchase and install a new one?
Asked by: Emily
Hi Emily, Thank you for your question! To identify the original unit, directly below the handle there should be a series number on the escutcheon plate. This trim will work with existing 1700 series valves. However, you will need to use the existing cartridge (or RP32104) rather than the one that comes with the kit. Thanks, Jon

Caulk Tub Spout

There is no waterproofing included between the back of the tub spout and wall. Should this space be filled with caulk? I'm assuming the seam should be caulked between the spout and wall.
Asked by: Dan
Hello Dan, Thank you for your inquiry! When installing the tub spout of the Delta Lahara Tub and Shower T17438 model, it does not require any silicone or caulking. Best regards, Tanya

what is a rough valve?

Asked by: mark
Mark, thank you for your question! We often say that the rough-in valve is the part of the shower unit that you do not see as it is behind the wall. The trim is all the pieces that are visible to the eye. Our most popular rough-in valve is Delta Faucet model #R10000-UNBX. Information surrounding it can be found by following this link: http://www.deltafaucet.com/bath/details/r10000-unbx.html

For a $300 trim set and using the Universal Rough In Valve, how long will it take to fill 60 gallons in an 80 gallon tub for a good soak? What is the flow rate out of the tub spigot? Thanks!

Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for your question, Anonymous! The flow rate will depend on the trim kit used with the rough-in valve, the pressure in the home, and other factors. However, at 60 PSI the maximum flow rate will be about 6.0 GPM with the Delta Lahara Tub and Shower T17438-SS model. Best regards, Tanya

I bought Tub and Shower system with separate hand held shower--parts T17438, T11800,57014, 50560, R100000-UNWS, and R11000. It appears that the only way to make it work is to lift the tub diverter each time. True? Alternative suggestion?

Asked by: mjbphx
Hello, mjbphx. Thank you for your question! Water will flow to the tub spout first and can then be diverted to the shower head or hand shower. This is the recommended installation for a tub and shower setup. The T11900 6-Setting Diverter Trim Kit will allow you to use the third port of the R11000 Diverter Valve. You may connect a non-diverter tub spout to the R11000, but the flow rate will be reduced by about 1 GPM when compared to the bottom port of the R10000 valve. Best regards, Jon

We have the Lahara tub and shower faucets. The tub-shower diverter is not working; the knob that pulls up to divert water to the shower head will not stay up. I guess the problem is a bad gasket. Can this be fixed without buying a new tub-shower diverter?

Do you have a diagram for the pull up diverter in the Lahara tub and shower faucet? My kids managed to disassemble it. I put it back together but it no longer diverts all of the water. Didn’t seem like I was missing a part… but unsure!

I just had the monitor model number T17438 installed in my new home. It’s one day old. And it’s showing dark water spots and turning dark colors. Is there a film covering that needs to be removed? This problem is in both bathrooms .

Asked by: Susan
Hello Susan, Thank you for your question about the Delta Faucet model T17438 Lahara® Monitor® 17 Series Tub & Shower Trim In Chrome. I apologize the faucet is showing water spots. I know that can be frustrating. We are happy to help! There would not be a cover on the faucet finish. Always blot dry any water from the faucet surface. Allowing water to evaporate on the surface can lead to a build-up of mineral deposits. Cleaning with a damp non-abrasive sponge and buffing it dry with a clean soft cloth should help keep your product looking beautiful. To remove water spots, use warm water and a soft, damp cloth.
