Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wrong cartridge with the valve The valve came with the wrong cartridge to allow it to control the tub, shower head, and handheld. My plumber is now trying to get the correct cartridge from a local plumbing supply store so that it will work correctly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT USE! The extension connectors are not long enough for a secure attachment to the water lines so a female extension needs to be added to attach the water lines creating a problem leak area behind finished walls. Easy leaking due to design and short brass extensions for connection to water lines

Rated 4 out of 5 by from No plaster shield, but pretty easy install. They no longer have a plaster shield to make sure valve is flush. Coulld not reach the screw holes in the back by working thru the front. Had to screw the valve to a 2x6 then nail the board in from the back. Fortunately the back was open. Would recommend using rigid pipe of some type and just let it float. The trim held it pretty well. Installing the cartridge and trim was pretty easy. Looks good

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Diverter This diverter moves smoothly, and allows us to have both the wall shower head and handheld shower on at the same time or each one individually. There may be a slight decrease in water pressure from both heads when both heads are on, but it is barely noticeable, and may just be in my mind. Make sure that you cap off one of the 3 ports in order to get the functionality of having both shower heads on at the same time. The directions didn’t indicate that, and our contractor (not a plumber) didn’t have experience with this type of plumbing, so I had to look it up to figure it out. In the end, we are happy with it.

Q&A

Can I make the valve control go to shower head or hand held but not both?

Asked by: Tony tucker
Thank you for your question, Tony! The Delta R11000 Diverter Rough-in will accept the RP71717 two setting, Non-Shared Diverter Cartridge which will diverter between both items without a shared function. https://www.deltafaucet.com/parts-product-detail?modelNumber=RP71717 Best regards, Edward

What types and how many rough in valves will I need?

I am installing two fixed shower heads, a handheld, a rain shower, and 2 sets of body sprays (3 each with different on/off controls) in my master bath. I was told that one R10000 UNBX valve and one R11000 3/6 diverter would be sufficient. However, my plumber advised that would not work and its better to have more diverters because when I want to run multiple items at once, the pressure will be extremely low where I will be getting only drops of water. I want to be able to run a max of 3 items at one time without any water flow/pressure loss. What types and how many rough in valves will I need?
Asked by: Milz
Dear Milz, Thank you for your question. To install your two fixed shower heads, a handheld, a rain shower, and 2 sets of body sprays you would need two of the Delta MultiChoice Rough-In Valve R10000-UNHF and two of the Delta Delta 3 / 6-Setting Diverter Rough-In Valves R11000. Best regards, Tanya

can you get this valve w/stops?

Asked by: Nicole
Hi, Nicole! Thank you for your question. The Delta R11000 diverter valve does not come with stops as this does not flow of the water. This diverts water from one shower component to the other. Best Regards, Rosanna

how to make water flow though port 3 left side instead of port 2 in right side?

Asked by: kghome
Thank you for your question, kghome! The right port of the R11000 valve should be plugged when using a 3-setting diverter cartridge. If you are using a 6-setting cartridge and trim, the diverter handle will allow water to flow through the right port. Please refer to the maintenance and installation manual below for reference. https://media.deltafaucet.com/MandI/70551%20Rev%20F.pdf Best regards, Edward

I am doing wall shower on right rain shower on top and wall shower on left . I am confused why do I have to cap right for three function

if i ca right side as it says on the valve how do i install my hand shower on right>
Asked by: gary
Hi Gary, Thank you for your question. You will only need to cap the right side of the valve if you will be using a 3-setting trim kit. For your set up, you will need to use a 6-setting trim kit and will not have to cap the valve. Best Regards, Courtney

R11000 GPM Flow Rate

I want to install (4) body jets and need to ensure the flow rate from the diverter is as high as possible. I will use a 6 setting cartridge/trim. What is the GPM of this unit at 60 and 80 PSI of water pressure: 1) when water is dedicated to one port; and 2) when water is shared between two ports?
Asked by: ShowerBuild
Hi ShowerBuild Thank you for your question. The flow rate will be primarily determined by the main valve and trim that you use (R10000 + 13/14, 17, or 17T trim). The approximate maximum flow rate from the diverter valve at 60 PSI is: With R10000-UNBX: 14 series - 5.8 GPM 17 series - 5.9 GPM 17T series - 7.3 GPM With R10000-UNBXHF (High-Flow): 14 series - 6.3 GPM 17 series - 6.6 GPM 17T series - 8.6 GPM At 80 PSI the flow rate is increased by approximately 1 GPM. These are the maximum total flow rates from the diverter valve in a shared position. The maximum flow from an individual diverter port is limited to 5 to 6 gallons per minute, depending on pressure and the trim series chosen. Best regards, Jon

I am installing an R11000 diverter and only want to have a fixed shower head and a hand held. Do i use the top and left side outlets on the R11000 and plug the right outlet? Which cartridge do I need to run the fixed shower head and the hand independently

Asked by: David
Thank you for your question, David! In order to use an R11000 diverting valve for a shower head and hand shower, you will need to cap the right port and use either a 3-setting RP51918 cartridge that has two individual settings and one shared setting or the RP71717 non-shared cartridge which offers two individual settings only. https://www.deltafaucet.com/parts-product-detail?modelNumber=RP51918 https://www.deltafaucet.com/parts-product-detail?modelNumber=RP71717 Best regards, Edward

The mounting instructions are very unclear, how deep from the finished tile surface does the diverter need to be set?

Mounting a stringer along the back plane of the studs seems to leave the housing out too far for the trim plate to sit flush
Asked by: David
The instructions that COME with the diverter are clear, they are just wrong. They say 3 1/4" inches from stringer to finished wall which means you'd need to use a pretty thin stringer. That would also mean the inlet wouldn't align with the outlet of the R10000 valve below it if you were mounting the diverter above which is common. The instructions confused the heck out of me as well which is why I took to the internet. The instructions here online say 2 3/4" inch from stringer to finished wall. Aha! Makes much more sense. Hey Delta, you do cite the finished wall thickness has a pretty big degree of thicknesses it's compatible with, but being a half inch off on a mounting depth is pretty bad. Was that just a typo? I'm mounting the R10000 and R11000 both to 2x4 stringers in a standard depth 2x4 wall space with 1/2" Durock backer board and 1/4" thick tile with ~1/8 inch of thinset / roll on sealer in between them. My measurements put everything exactly where it needs to be...
