Rated 3 out of 5 by from Beware left take off only on 3 way diverter. 3 way diverter only uses left side. I only wanted the 3way but rough in calls for right port to be used. Had to convert to 6 way cartridge. Too bad the couldn’t make the 3 way selectable right or left. Would be a better design. If the ceramic seal was reversible in cartridge and not keyed it would work. Probably ought to specify right or left takeoff and manufacture a different 3 way cartridge for either right or left take off. Fortunately I discovered this before tiling it in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great, with one minor flaw if you're using PEX Great rough-in, easy to install, works perfectly. My only complaint is the location of the mounting feet. They are both on the top side, which allows the rough-in to rock upward, away from the stringer. I would have preferred one of the mounting feet on the bottom as well, similar to Delta's shower rough-ins. This was an issue for me because I used PEX between the shower rough-in and diverter rough-in. When it gets hot, it expands, causing the diverter to rock upward. I will solve this by either strapping the bottom of the rough-in to the stringer, or by using a loop of PEX instead of a straight piece. But I wouldn't need to do either if there was a mount on the bottom side. The PEX would simply be forced to bend. No big deal, but heads up for those using PEX.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Delta makes is easy with universal valves Valve body for 3 or 6 function diverter. Easy to install. Includes plug for unused port. One thing to note during installation, the screw tabs are only on the top side of the valve body. If you tighten the screws much, the valve will tilt upward. This will cause the handle and trim to be tilted as well, so leave the screw heads accesible in case they need to be adjusted

Q&A

What size hole is required in the finished wall?

What sized hole do I need to have cut in my finished wall tile to allow for enough room for the diverter to function? Also what is the maximum sized hole that trim will cover? This is with an r11000
Asked by: Steve
Thank you for your questions. Included here is the spec sheet for Delta Faucet model # R11000. While we do not recommend that you cut your holes until you have the product in hand, we understand that sometimes it is necessary. The spec sheet should help. http://www.deltafaucet.com/customersupport/documentation/r11000.html?document=ts&documentIndex=0#flashWrapper

With a 3-setting valve, in the middle setting, water goes to outlets 1 and 2. Does the position of the handle vary the pressure to each port? In other words, if the handle is more towards #1 does more water go there and less to #2 and vice versa?

Asked by: RogerGator
Hi, RogerGator! Thank you for your question. There should not be any flow change from the Delta MultiChoice Universal R10000 Rough Valve Body when any of the settings for the R11000 Diverter Rough is in use. Best Regards, Rosanna

If you incorrectly plug the left side outlet port of a R1100 diverter will the three function diverter trim kit still work?

Asked by: toad
Dear Toad, Thank you for your question. When only using a 3 setting application the right port of the R11000 diverter valve has to be capped, otherwise the second unit connected to the diverter valve will not work, unless a 6 function non-shared diverter cartridge RP71718. Best regards, Tanya

Can you suggest a wrench to remove the bonnet nut ?

My diverter rough is set inside the tile ( image ), I need to remove the bonnet nut but none of the shower socket wrench fits the bolt. I have limited space and cannot use other pliers. Any suggestions ?

What size is the hole for the wall, is there a min and max.

Asked by: Doug
Thank you for your question, Doug! Information needed to install the R11000 valve can be found in the Maintenance and Installation manual as well as the Technical Specifications below. Although there is not a specific size recommended for this valve, you will also want to consult the Technical Specifications for the trim that will be used to ensure this fits appropriately in regards to the maximum and minimum allowance. https://media.deltafaucet.com/SpecSheet/dsp-b-r11000_F.pdf Best regards, Edward

What exactly will I need

Removing a tub and building a customized shower. Thus far I will be using 2) 52688 shower heads, 2) T18017-SSXO body jets (with rough-ins) and 1) 5433-PN-PK. I assume I need the R11000 diverter to switch between the shower heads and the hand held. But unsure as to what I need to use to supply the diverter. But what faucet rough-in would I use to supply the diverter,
Asked by: Willie
Hi Willie, Thank you for your question. The water demand of the 2 showerheads at 2.0 gpm each, 2 sets of body sprays at 2.5 gpm each, and a hand shower at 2.0 cannot be supplied with a single valve. You will not need an R11000 diverter rough as the T18017-SSXO body sprays have a built in diverter. I would recommend installing 2 R10000-UNBXHF roughs, and 2 valve only trims of your choice to supply the water to the listed accessories. You would plumb the T18017-SSXO with rough ins from the shower port on the R10000's and then plumb a 52688 shower head from each jetted diverter trim. You would finally plumb the 55433 hand shower from one of the jetted diverter trims and cap off the extra port on the other. You would need to order 2 extra shower arms and shower arm flanges for the fixed showerheads. Thanks, Dave

Hi, I purchased the Delta Roman Tub with Shower Rough Model #R4707. My question is, can this Diverter #R11000 be used along with #R4707?

I would like to be able to plumb this so that I can select to use the hand held shower (R4707) or an additional shower head in the wall with the diverter (R11000). Does the diverter in R4707 allow the use of an additional diverter (R11000)?
Asked by: chuy_818
Hi chuy_818, Thank you for your question. The R4707 is designed to divert water to a hand shower only. We recommend to connect the shower head to an R10000 shower valve. Best regards, Jon

Can you tell me the GPM of the R11000 please.

Asked by: Stephanie
Thank you for your question, Stephanie. The flow rate will be determined by the water pressure in the home and the main valve. The maximum flow rate from each individual port of the diverter should be approximately 5 GPM at 60 PSI. The maximum combined flow rate in a shared position will be limited by the R10000 valve and trim kit that you choose, but should be at least 5 GPM at 60 PSI. Best regards, Jon

Asked by: strand0617
Hi, Strand0617! Thank you for your question. There is not a required measurement between the R10000 and R11000 rough bodies. We do recommend to check the size of each trim plate on their own technical specifications sheet for measurements to be sure the plates do not overlap. Best Regards, Rosanna

3/6 Diverter Installation and Station Settings

I am installing the 10000 and 11000 diverter for a shower head, rain head, and hand shower. If i understand correctly the left port of the diverter should be the primary function (shower head). The top port should be the secondary function (rain head), and the right port would be the hand shower. With this configuration the stations/operation of the 3/6 diverter will be as follows: Station #1 shower head only Station #2 rain head only Station #3 Shower head + rain head only Station #4 hand shower only Please confirm that if I am on the same planet.
Asked by: Poppa T
Hi Poppa T, Thank you for your question. As you face the R11000 rough outlet 1 would be at the 12 o-clock position, outlet 2 at the 9 o-clock position, and outlet 3 at the 3 o-clock position. Page 5 of the attached manual will show you which functions will work with each location on the diverter trim. http://www.deltafaucet.com/customersupport/documentation/t11900.html?document=mi&fromDetailArea=bath&documentIndex=0#flashWrapper Thanks, Dave

Hi, I would like to have the tub filler, handheld and shower controlled by the diverter with the 3 setting trim how can this be done?

Asked by: Pppt
Thank you for your question, Pppt! Unfortunately it is not recommended to have a tub spout connected to a diverter trim as the R11000 connects to the top port of an R10000-UNBX rough in valve. Diverting back down to a tub spout would then result in a loss of pressure. However, a diverting tub spout can be used with the bottom port of the R10000 valve with the R11000 diverting valve controlling the shower head and hand shower. With a three setting diverter cartridge, you will also have the option to use these independently or at the same time. Best regards, Edward

My plumber installed shower head, hand shower and R11000 diverterrough-in. He capped the left side because the hand shower is to the right.  Didn’t imagine that Delta’s 3-position diverter wouldn’t support this config. Tiled over.Options?

Asked by: Ryan Hart
Thank you for your question, Ryan! Unfortunately the R11000 diverting rough must have the right port capped when using a 3-setting trim in order to work. Aside from un-plugging or replacing this rough, purchasing the 6-Setting Diverter cartridge RP51919 will allow this to once again function; however, you will have three non-functional settings. https://www.deltafaucet.com/parts-product-detail?modelNumber=RP51919 Best regards, Edward

Rough in depth?

I have been in the plumbing business for over 40 years, and the installation instructions for this diverter valve are the most confusing that I have ever seen! I don't under stand why this valve doesn't just rough in at the same depth as the 10000 valve and just stack straight up? There seems to be a discrepancy in the stringer depth in the wall between the 10000 and 11000 valves. I have called and get the answer that 1/4" +_ is ok. But that can put the retaining nut for the 11000 behind the finished wall. Infact the instructions show the face of that nut right at finished wall which makes it hard to remove & trim.
Asked by: Norton
Hi Norton! Thanks for reaching out to Delta Faucet. We are sorry for the issues you are facing. The information you received is correct. The front of the bonnet nut should be flush to sub flush to the finished wall. We appreciate your feedback and are forwarding your concern to the Product Quality Response Team.

The 11000 I received came with a Red cardboard tag on one of the values saying to cap this value if you are using a 3 function divertor, which I am, and I capped the port. The mounting points are on either side of this port, meaning both mounting screws would be on the right side since the bottom port gets feed from R10000, the left port goes to the handheld, and top port goes to shower head. The illustrations shows the mounting points at the top of the divertor, and not only on the right side. Are the illustrations accurate. Is my divertor installed correctly?

Hello Joe, Thank you for your question. The two mounting points are suppose to be on either side of the top outlet. The word "Up" should be facing upwards on the valve body. Best Regards, Courtney

I want to run my water to my tub spout, shower head, and hand shower. All individually non shared. What parts would I need? Also is there a specific outlet on the diverter valve for the tub spout or can it be connected to any outlet?

Asked by: diversity210
diversity210, Thank you for your question! We recommend connecting a diverter tub spout to the bottom port of the R10000 valve rather than the diverter valve. This will allow you to get the full flow from the tub spout. For this setup you can use the following: R10000 MultiChoice Tub and Shower Rough-In Valve 13/14, 17, or 17T Series Tub/Shower Trim Kit R11000 3/6-Setting Diverter Rough R11_ 3-Setting Diverter Trim Kit RP71717 2-Setting Non-Shared Cartridge Assembly Supply Elbow for the hand shower Best regards, Jon

Asked by: RAYMOND
Thank you for your question, RAYMOND! The right port needs to be capped off if you are using only two items for this diverter valve. Aside from un-plugging or replacing this rough, there is one solution to fix this. You will need to purchase a six setting diverter cartridge, part number RP51919 which will allow you to still use both of these items with the right port, however you will have redundant and non-functional settings. https://www.deltafaucet.com/parts-product-detail?modelNumber=RP51919 Best regards, Edward
