Can this shower valve be installed outdoors? can it be winterized?

Hi Muanis, Thank you for your question about the Delta Faucet model 142749-BL Nicoli™ Monitor® 14 Series H2Okinetic® Shower In Matte Black. We will be happy to assist you as quickly as possible. Our faucets are not currently tested for outdoor weather. Yes, you would need to protect the component from freezing water damage. Our warranty doesn’t cover damage caused by outdoor installations. Our finishes like Venetian Bronze and Matte Black may not hold up well to outdoor exposure. A chrome finish would be best, followed by a PVD finish like stainless. Do I need to use a specific type of pipe for the connection between the valve body and shower head(pex, cpvc, pvc, iron)?

Will the showerhead for the Nicoli Monitor 14 series H2O Kinetic still work if we don't use the Handle Kit for the Monitor Series. Our plumber said the Universal Rough is not compatible with the current Delta system we have.

Why is the product designed so that the head does not screw completely onto the shower arm so the threads can't be seen? Visible threads on the arm after spending a substantial amount of money on a trim kit doesn't make any sense from an aesthetic point.
