Q&A

Hi, I appear to have a classic shower faucet as pictured above with the clear knob and wanted to switch to something like the H79 handle or any like handle to make it easier for the kids to set themselves. Is it possible to simply switch handles?

Asked by: Andrew
Thank you for your question, Andrew! The RP19804 cartridge easily allows for a knob handle as well as a lever handle such as the H79 or RP48717 handles, which instead of being held to the front of the stem with a Phillips head screwdriver for a knob handle, will now be kept in place with an included set screw off to the side. A hot and cold indicator decal is also available for purchase. https://media.deltafaucet.com/PartsDiagram/DPD-B-T13020.pdf https://www.deltafaucet.com/parts-product-detail?modelNumber=RP17498 Best regards, Edward

I have Model #T13022 currently in my upstairs shower. I am looking to replace only the trim and not the rough in outlet since its welded and that is outside my ability. Is there any crossover models that I could replace the existing valve with??

Asked by: JakeMi24
Hello JakeMi24, Thank you for your question. As long as the screw holes on your large round escutcheon plate are at the 1 and 7 o'clock positions and you do not have a push button shower diverter directly below the off and on handle, then any of our trim kits that start with a T13 or a T14 will interchange for you. The cartridges that come with the new trim kits will not fit your valve body (if the unit was installed before 2006), so you will need to reuse your existing cartridge (RP19804). The trim kits are available in numerous finish colors including Pearl Nickel, Venetian Bronze and Stainless Steel. All of our current available trim kit options are shown on our website at www.deltafaucet.com. Best regards, Tanya

Model T13020

I purchased the T13020 Monitor Valve Only with Cartridge. The instructions say to use a spacer if the model requires it. There was a white plastic circle in the box. Is this a spacer and does this model require it? Thanks
Asked by: Granny CK
Hi Granny CK, Thank you for your question. The spacer may be needed depending on the installation. The spacer should be used if you slide the sleeve back all the way and there is a gap between the handle and sleeve. Best regards, Jon

This is the shower knob that I currently have installed. However, the hole in the wall was cut too big and water is able to get in the wall. Is there a back plate that could be used with this to cover the too large opening in the wall?

Asked by: Larry
Thank you for your question, Larry! We do offer a renovation plate when switching from a two handle faucet to a one handle faucet that may work for your situation as well. This is part number RP29827 which covers up to 8" center holes and is available for purchase in Chrome, Polished Brass, Venetian Bronze, and Stainless Steel. https://bit.ly/2KlCpWI Best regards, Edward

I have a single knob shower. what replacement cartridge would i use? installed 3/1995

Asked by: bill3
Hi Bill, Thank you for your question! If the knob is turned counterclockwise to turn on, the screws around the knob should be at the lower left and upper right, and the cartridge is RP19804 with RP4993 seats and springs in the legs. If the knob is pushed up to turn on, see RP54870 for a 600 series kit. Replace RP4993 for a leak or drip when off. Please reach out with any additional questions! Asked by: Frank
Hi Frank, Thank you for your question about the Delta Faucet model T13022. If leaking while off, recommended maintenance is to replace the RP4993 seats and springs in the legs of the cartridge. My bathroom has a Classic Chrome T13022 -1300(?). I bought the Trinsic trim kit in matte black. The rough in valve does not fit it. It will cost a lot of money to have the multi choice rough in installed- I live in a condo. What are my options?

Asked by: Karen
Hi Karen, Thanks so much for contacting Delta Faucet Company about the T13022! If the shower was installed after 2006, the rough valve should be the universal R10000. This means you could install any T13/14, T17, and 17T trim kit. However, if your shower was installed before 2006, then you would only be able to upgrade 1300/1400 to a T13/14. My shower faucet developed a drip problem, when shut off. I bought a valve kit and changed the valve cartridge. This fixed the leak problem. Now i have very minimal hot water. I have cleaned the old cartridge and reinstalled hot water problem remains

Asked by: sjjvesper
Hi sjjvesper, Thank you for contacting Delta Faucet Company! Please accept our sincere apology for the inconvenience you are experiencing with your Delta Faucet Classic Monitor® 13 Series Valve Only Trim In Chrome MODEL#: T13022. Here is what we can do to resolve your issue for you. Low flow is caused by a blockage or debris, we would recommend flushing the shower unit. When water is shut off and back on it allows debris to move around in your water lines which is caught would cause the lower than normal flow rate. I have included the flushing instructions below. To flush the open valve without the cartridge, please follow the directions below. 1) Remove the handle by loosening the set screw on the side of the base of the handle. The set screw is either a 1/8" or 3/32" Allen screw. So you will need to use the appropriate size Allen wrench to loosen it. Loosen it just enough to be able to easily pull the handle off. * Note. If there is calcium build-up at the base of the handle, it may be necessary to soak it in a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water. Simply saturate the rag with the 50/50 solution, wrap it around the handle base and place a plastic bag over it. I would recommend do this the night before removing the handle. 2) After removing the handle, remove the trim sleeve. 3) Then you will need to remove the bonnet nut. The bonnet nut is the threaded ring at the valve opening. It unscrews counterclockwise. You will need a pipe wrench or a pair of channel locks. 4) After removing the bonnet nut, you will need to pull the cartridge straight out. You may need a small, skinny bladed screwdriver to wedge in between the lip of the cartridge and the valve to help start it out. 5) Once the cartridge is removed, you will have an open valve body. 6) Next, shut the shower door or curtain and turn the water on to the valve. Water should gush out, much like an open fire hydrant. Have someone observe if there is good water pressure coming out of the valve and let it flush for 30 seconds. 7) Re-install the cartridge and re-assemble in reverse of how it was disassembled. The Tub/Shower should then have a good flow. Thank you for being a loyal Delta Faucet customer. We appreciate your business and look forward to continuing to serve you. Please contact us back with any further questions. Best Regards, Nicole

MODEL#: T13022. Sometimes it's hot and then turns cold. I need to turn the faucet off and on several time to get hot water. I there an adjustment or does it need a new valve.

Asked by: Bones
Hi Bones, Thank you for your question regarding our Delta Faucet T13022. Please accept our sincere apology for the inconvenience you are experiencing. We will be happy to assist you in resolving this issue as quickly as possible. It sounds as though the rotational limit stop may not have been adjusted. The rotational limit stop is used to limit the amount of hot water available such that, if set properly, the user will not be scalded if the handle accidentally is rotated all the way to “hot” when a person is showering or filling a tub. The first position allows the LEAST amount of hot water to mix with the cold water in the system. In the first position, the water will be the coldest possible when the handle is turned all the way to hot. As you move the rotational limit stop counterclockwise, you progressively add more and more hot water in the mix. The last position to the left will result in the greatest amount of hot water to the mix, and the greatest risk of scald injury if someone accidentally turns the valve handle all the way to the hot side while showering or filling a tub. To adjust the temperature of the water coming out of the valve, pull the disc back to a position where it is possible to remove the rotational limit stop and readjust the teeth engagement position to the desired temperature. Clockwise will decrease the outlet temperature, counterclockwise will increase the outlet temperature. Temperature change per tooth (notch) could be 4° - 16°F based on inlet water conditions. Repeat as necessary. Push disc until fully seated. If you would like installation help, you may contact our residential warranty line directly at 800-345-3358 (prompt 2, then 4).
