Rated 2 out of 5 by from Mediocre The flow on these shower heads not good. The head is smaller than we expected. The finish gets water spots easily. Does not look as nice in person as photo. Not a good value for the price.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No hot water We installed a beautiful onyx walk in shower to assist my handicapped husband. We spent $8,000 to include a handicap seat with a stationary shower head in addition to a hand held unit .We purchased dual shower heads T17230l for wall mount in addition to a hand held T13220. These faucets have a scald guard control built in which restricts hot water. We’ve had 3 plumbers out and have been told the units are set on max heat. One head reaches a temp of 90.7o the other 90.5o. We have only been able to use this shower during the summer months of July & August due to cold water temps. Don’t buy this faucet if you like a hot shower. Very disappointed after spending so much on our beautiful handicapped assessable shower and unable to use it daily. Delta should alert buyers how restricted their scald guard units are.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Leaky shower head Until yesterday, I really liked this shower head with the 3 flow adjustments and the temperature control setting. We’ve had this installed for about 20 months, and the shower head started dripping when the shower is off. This shouldn’t happen after such a short period of time. Please help.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from OK The flange that goes on the shower wall and surrounds the controls is plastic, which looks OK but it's plastic. The shower head is not as powerful as the cheap one I replaced. It is very hard to adjust the settings, and none are very powerful. Also the bar that adjusts the volume is attached to the bar that adjusts the temp. When you rotate the bar for the volume, you also end up moving the temp, which defeats the purpose.

Q&A

My shower drips every other day and I think I need a replacement part for the valve. The shower was here when I bought the house so not sure what part to buy. All I can see is delta 17 mnmn choice tm.  What part do I need to buy?

Asked by: Barb
Hi, Barb. Thank you for your question. I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing an issue with your Delta T17230 faucet. We recommend to replace the adapter assembly, RP46073. We also recommend to flush the valve to make sure no debris is stuck inside, causing the leak. Best Regards, Rosanna

Does this trim kit fit the old valve RP32104 cartridge? What other trim kits fit this cartridge?

Asked by: Celeste
Hi Celeste, Thank you for your question. As long as the screw holes on your large round escutcheon plate are at the 1 and 7 o'clock positions and you do not have a push button shower diverter directly below the off and on handle, then the Delta Classic Shower T17230 model and any of the other Delta shower trim kits that start with a T17, except for the T17T series trim kits will interchange for you. Best regards, Tanya

Tempurature control slow to respond.

Late 1990s shower. Intermittently but now mostly you have to move the temperature control a lot to change temperature at all but then over responds. I have lowered the gear limit as you could make it too hot and made sure the screw is not too tight. This is not an issue in other showers. I am worried the valve won't control the temperature at all soon as the temperature often seems stuck. What should I try next?
Asked by: Jeff
Hi Jeff, Thank you for your question. It sounds like the next step would be to replace the cartridge. The cartridge is what controls the volume and temperature mix in the faucet. The part number for a 1700 series replacement cartridge from the 1990's is RP32104. Thanks, Dave

How do I adjust water tempature

I cannot get water hot enough in my shower and need to adjust the valve on Monitor 1700 series so that it will allow more hot water to flow
Asked by: Dennis
Hi Dennis, Thank you for your question. Your model T17230 is equipped with a rotational limit stop that allows you to set the max hot water temperature for the faucet. Step 4 on page 7 of the attached manual will show you how to adjust the rotational limit stop and increase the water temperature. http://www.deltafaucet.com/customersupport/documentation/t17230.html?document=mi&fromDetailArea=bath&documentIndex=0#flashWrapper We also have a how to video to show you how to make the adjustment. http://www.deltafaucet.com/shopping-tools/research/video-gallery/video.html?v=n2_uZ7wgV1I&cat= Thanks, Dave

this is the shower faucet we have and want to replace the trim - shower was installed in 2001 - how do I know what rough valve we have?

Asked by: Sara
Hi Sara, Thank you for your question. The current multichoice universal valve was released in 2006. Any current T17 series can be used with the older valve body. You will simply need to continue using the original 1700 series cartridge, part RP32104 which has a white cap. The rp46463 is the current multichoice cartridge that comes with current trim kits and has a grey cap. I will include links to both cartridges below for reference. https://www.deltafaucet.com/parts-product-detail?modelNumber=RP32104 https://www.deltafaucet.com/parts-product-detail?modelNumber=RP46463 Best regards, Edward

Can I purchase just the controls?

We just purchased a home that has an older model Delta shower controls similar to this one with the dial to adjust temperature controls. I would like to upgrade to a nickel finish from the gold, but cannot find this type of controls anywhere in stores, or separate from a set. Can this be ordered without the shower head? If so, where could I order this?
Asked by: Stewart
Hi Stewart, Thank you for your question. A new 17 series trim will fit on an existing 1700 or 17 series rough. The cartridge that will ship with the new trim will fit a valve newer than February 2006. If the valve is older than February 2006 the existing cartridge will have to be reused or replaced by a new RP32104. We offer some valve only trims in the 17 series but not in the Classic bath series. The T17230-SS is not available without the showerhead. The T17094, T17038,T17078,and T17059 would be examples of valve only trims. Thanks, Dave

My existing Delta Monitor tub and shower kit is brass. We're modernizing the bathroom with brushed nickel hardware. Will this kit work with the existing valve? Will the stainless kit match brushed nickel?

Asked by: gags
Thank you for your question, gags! If you have an original 1700 or a 1500 series trim with the escutcheon screw holes at the 1 and 7 o'clock positions, then this trim kit can be used to update your installation. Our Stainless Steel finish is a close match to Brushed Nickel. Best regards, Edward

Is my new shower control working correctly?

Builder just installed Classic with separate volume and temperature controls in new shower. When volume control handle is turned, temperature control turns with it (as if joined). If I hold volume control steady with one hand, I can turn temperature control separately with the other hand. They're telling me that this is how this should work. Doesn't make sense to me - it seems that each control should turn independently. What is the correct operation of this type of control? Could they have installed wrong valve or installed something incorrectly? Where can I get written info or video info describing the proper functions for this type of dual control? Thank you.
Asked by: The Rays
Hi The Rays, Thank you for your question. The 17 Series operation works exactly as you described. The single handle offers temperature and volume control. The volume control will always move the temperature knob but will not change the setting. Check the tightness of the screw under the temperature knob. The temperature knob will cause the volume control to move some, but should still have some free range of motion without affecting the volume. Newness could also be a factor. I have attached the link to the owners manual. Thanks, Dave http://www.deltafaucet.com/customersupport/documentation/t17230-ss.html?document=mi&fromDetailArea=bath&documentIndex=0#flashWrapper

Is there a video or tutorial on how to repair a persistent drip?

This shower head drips when the shower is off. I have had it less than a year. I am looking for a video or tutorial on how to disassemble this showerhead and diagnose the problem. Or, can anyone give me advice on how to proceed and what steps to follow? Thanks.

contractor just installed classic monitor 17. Temperature lever for the hot position is cold and to the right is hot water. valve rotated no change

Asked by: richard
Hi Richard, Thank you for your question. It still sounds like the cartridge is not positioned properly. The cartridge has the words "Hot Side" located on the light gray portion of the cartridge at the base of the stem. Make sure the "hot side" of the cartridge is on the hot side water supply. This should get the temperature handle working correctly. I have attached a picture of the cartridge to show you where "hot side" is located. Thanks, Dave

Monitor 1700 series trim kit conversion

I am remodeling a bathroom that was built in the late 1990s and I would like to replace the trim on the shower faucet, Delta Monitor 1700 series. I would like to change the chrome trim to the Stainess steel look. Will the Classic Monitor 17 series shower trim work for me?
Asked by: Fletch
Hi Fletch, Thank you for your question. A new 17 series trim like the model T17230-SS will work with your existing 1700 series rough in valve. The new trim will ship with a new cartridge. This cartridge will not work in your existing rough, you will have to continue to use your old cartridge or replace it with a new RP32104 cartridge. Thanks, Dave

Hi PDE, Thank you for your question. The RP43381SS showerhead that comes with the T17230-SS shower trim is adjusted by the lever on the side of the showerhead. Moving the lever to the left or right will switch between the spray patterns. Thanks, Dave
