When you shut it off it still drips. Delta did send out a new cartridge right away but I am going to have to replace it every 6-9 months. That is not acceptable

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Faulty controller We had a plumber install this Leland faucet with an invoice date of 6/14/2010 from our contractor. We have hard water, but the faucet, spray and water flow have been great. However, the controller has had to be replaced by our plumber two times and now needs repaired again. He took the controller apart and it is broken inside above the sink, therefore you have to jiggle the controller to get it to shut the water off.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good faucet, bronze finish match could be better The faucet functions extremely well. the controls on the sprayer are in an excellent position and make this an extremely nice faucet. The flow control when off is centered in the middle between hot and cold, so if you flip the water on straight up, it's a medium temperature. Other flow control systems allow you to turn off the water on hot or on cold or wherever. To turn off the water, the control handle will always have to be in the middle. I'm sure we'll get used to this. The only real disappoint is the match of the bronzes finish between the flow control (separate from the spigot in my model) and the spigot. The finish on the flow control is more coarse and red.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Beautiful, but hard to turn off My wife loves the look of her new oil rubbed bronze finished faucet. I really like the all brass construction, especially at this price point. What neither of us like is how you must be very precise in placing the handle in the exact position to turn off the water completely. We’re constantly finding the water dripping and have to again hunt for the sweet spot off position.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Frustrated with the quality We remodeled our kitchen 7 yrs ago and installed the Leland faucet system with soap dispenser. We love the look of it. However, the faucet has never worked correctly, always dripping or slowly running until you jiggle the handle to get it to turn off. And now pieces of black plastic are falling apart from the inside of the sleeve assembly and dropping out onto our counter top. Today, our soap dispenser has suddenly stopped working. You push it down for soap and it stays down, with a tiny trickle of soap coming out. I wish things would last longer than several years.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Faucet with Separate Handle Have just installed this faucet and it is working well. One curious thing is that the handle moves very little between hot and cold - almost not at all. This means you need a fine touch to select temps between all-hot and all-cold. However, it doesn't seem to be much of a problem and something we'll definitely get used to pretty quickly. Also, if the spray is selected and then you turn the water off, it will come back on as a spray. My prior faucet didn't do this, when it turned back on it was full-stream. I preferred the full-stream deal, but that's just a personal choice I expect. Appears to be heavy-duty and the finish is very nice. To be perfectly frank, we ordered this because it was pretty much the only one we could find where the handle is not part of the faucet. We have granite counter tops and have 3 holes which were used for faucet, handle and soap dispenser. That's the type of replacement we wanted so we wouldn't have a random hole we had to plug, which totally changes the nice finished look of a granite counter top. Based on my online research, this is a common complaint and concern for people replacing a faucet. I can't imagine why the heck manufacturers don't provide that option anymore. Time will tell if this is a durable item, I have no comments on that at this point. My prior Moen lasted almost 10 years and I'm hoping to get at least that much out of this one.

We bought this faucet because we wanted a separate handle from the faucet itself. The handle on this faucet is EXTREMELY difficult to control the water temp. It is so touchy that it’s almost impossible to not get very hot or ice cold. This doesn’t bode well when trying to bath our newborn child under it. Had to bath in tub instead because I was so scared I would burn him.

We even used it again when we got new countertops. This has been a great faucet while raising a family of four kids through teens into adulthood and now grandkids. I found it online again as I'm recommending it to my sister for their replacement.

Delta faucets are recommended by plumbers due to their functionality and warranty. We were afraid we couldn't find a replacement because the house we bought was 7 years old. The previous owners removed the flow restrictor and voided the warranty so we had to replace the faucet at our expense. It's nice to know Delta keeps their product line running for a long time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent! I replaced a Kohler faucet with this Delta 978-DST. I'm very satisfied. I bought the faucet through a plumbing service company, which also did the installation. I could have installed it myself, but the plumber did it in maybe one-third the time and pointed out things that I might have missed - e.g, greasing all threaded parts, how to remove and clean the aerator (which takes a special wrench that is supplied), how to replace the valve cartridge, and basically how the whole faucet goes together. Plus, I hate lying on my back under a sink. There was an earlier comment that rinsing dishes with the sprayer would cause you to get sprayed, too. Just reduce the flow setting on the control lever, and you will stay dry. The pull-down sprayer is the cat's meow. The sprayer that came with our Kohler (6 years ago) was almost unusable - it wouldn't retract and the hose below the sink would tangle up. (Probably the newer Kohler models are improved?)

It says 2 or 3 hole installation. How does it work on a 3 hole? Also any similar setups on black?

I would like to take off the faucet head because it has begun to spray - I assume build up is inside the head. I see the little piece you can push in but it doesn't want to come apart from the hose easily. Is there a trick to take the head off?

The spec indicates a min clearance of 2.5 inches from center of hole for faucet to backsplash. I only have 2 inches.  Why is 2.5 inches needed since the handle goes forward and not back? Will 2 inches work?

Thank you for your question, Bridget! The minimum clearance to the back splash is typically suggested for lavatory models with lift rods or for models where the handle does reach backwards. This is still suggested for maximum comfort and ease of use with the handle; however this model can still work with only 2". Best regards, Edward

I have granite countertops with two existing holes. One hole is only 1.375" dia. Is this large enough for the handle?

Water pressure has become low at kitchen faucet. How do we take the sprayer apart to clean it?

Thank you for your question, Cathy! This Leland model included a cashe aerator wrench, part number RP50815 that is used to remove this aerator counterclockwise. It is designed to clip onto the Pex supply line below the counter but a pair of needle nose pliers may be carefully used in its place. Is Venetian Bronze still available? The photos look suspiciously like oil-rubbed bronze. We are replacing a faucet in our kitchen, and there are two sinks in close proximity. It will be obvious if the finishes are not the same.

Thank you for your question, david524! Delta model 978-RB-DST is only offered in Venetian Bronze which is a dark chocolate brown color with copper brushed highlights throughout. Oil Rubbed Bronze is a much darker, almost black finish with copper accents but without brushed marks. Best regards, Edward

Model 978-DST. Cannot remove the bonnet to replace the cartridge..Used suggested 1 5/16 socket. Cannot break it loose from the base. Some help please. Thanks.

Is it possible to increase the gpm flow rate of this faucet? If so, what part should be ordered?

Hi meb, Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # 978-RB-DST has a flow rate of 1.8 gpm at 60 psi. We do offer a wand assembly that includes an aerator which will increase the flow rate to 2.2 gpm at 60 psi. That model number is RP51480RB. Thanks, JessW
