Faucet dead when batteries dieCould not believe my faucet would not work when batteries died!! I have wanted a touch to activate faucet for so long (I hate trying to turn on the faucet when I have raw meat on my hands). I was so excited after installing this, which, by the way, was pretty easy. Then to have it not work after only 2 months because the batteries died!! During my husband's birthday party! I was scrambling g to find more AA's wherever I could find them, and after only a month I cannot use my sink AGAIN.
I am going to try the C batteries and fingers crossed it will last more than 2 months.
I will repost if it does work, Delta needs to make this known

Touch on/off system does not work properlyWhen we received this faucet, the box was slightly damage on one corner. When I opened the box, there was a million very little metal balls loose in the box. In fact, the hose weight (plastic) was broken and half the balls were in the box. I had to use the metal, solid weight of the existing faucet I was replacing.
The installation was really easy. The instructions are very clear and the provided wrench is very useful when you are under sink in a tight location. The pressure is good. The 3-function wand is nice and the magnet to keep it in place works well. The adjustment of the water temperature is not very progressive and it can be hard to find the right temperature between hot and cold.
Now, here is the bad part that justifies the only one-star rating. This faucet has a mind of its own! The touch on/off function just does not work properly. The faucet goes on and off by itself without touching anything (i did not buy the touchless version). Only the non-rotating base of the faucet seems to turn on and off the faucet. A touch anywhere else (handle or spout) does not have any effect. The faucet can be on for 20 seconds then stop by itself for 3 seconds then turn on again for ten seconds then off a minute and turn on again (this is an example but it's all random). Also when pulling the wand down more than 3-4 inches, the faucet randomly turns off and then turns back on as soon as the wand moves upward.
This is so ridiculous that I have disconnected the electrovalve and use it as a standard faucet. The problem is that I paid a high price for a faucet that does not do what it is supposed to.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT.

Correct Installation is important. It looks good and works well, once we got the installation tweaked. It kept stopping the first few days and the plumber had to return to adjust something under the sink.
Will the faucet still work if the owner goes out?? We have ours hard-wired and don’t use the battery pack.
Asked by: Spud
Hello Jill,
Thank you for your question. The Delta Leland Touch2O Kitchen 9178T-SP-DST faucet is designed to only activate when touched. We recommend to turn the handle to the off position if leaving on vacation or for an extended period of time, but you can leave it on/open for day-to-day use.
Best regards,
Tanya

We recently installed this faucet in a condominium. When the neighbors use their cold faucets, hot water crosses through our clients 9178T-SP-DST and hot water comes out the neighbors faucets.
Asked by: Bellevue Plumbing
Thank you for your question, Bellevue Plumbing! That is correct and this issue, also known as cross flow, will happen if the RP53468 Check Valves are not installed. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and please feel free to contact us directly if you need further assistance.

How do I dis-assemble the spray head?
Asked by: Tom1
Hi, Tom1!
Thank you for your question. The Delta 9178T-SP-DST Faucet sprayer assembly can be dis assembled by first unscrewing the sprayer from the hose assembly at the connection. The aerator assembly at the face of the sprayer can be unscrewed with the RP50815 Aerator Wrench. Here is a link to this part:

I have 15 1/4" from my counter to a a shelf above my sink. Is there a pipe attached to the faucet making it impossible to fit the faucet in the counter opening?
Asked by: Cove
Hi, Cove!
Thank you for your question. The 9178T-SP-DST faucet does have a spout shank and PEX lines that do have to be installed above the sink so the lines and spout shank can fit through the hole of the sink. Here are the manual instructions for this unit:

If I move the faucet handle to off-position and allow the auto-shutoff to trigger after 4 minutes, does it decrease my battery life or decrease my solenoid life? Should I try to use touch-off or faucet-off most of the time? Thanks, Pete
Asked by: Pete
Hi, Pete!
Thank you for your question. We recommend turning the water off/on by touch for the Delta 9178T-SP-DST Faucet and leave the handle in the 'on' position. This will not decrease battery or solenoid life faster.

Rosanna
