Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love everything but the touchless feature! My husband and his both love the faucet but the touchless on/off faucet is too sensitive and we are going to disable it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Faucet dead when batteries die Could not believe my faucet would not work when batteries died!! I have wanted a touch to activate faucet for so long (I hate trying to turn on the faucet when I have raw meat on my hands). I was so excited after installing this, which, by the way, was pretty easy. Then to have it not work after only 2 months because the batteries died!! During my husband's birthday party! I was scrambling g to find more AA's wherever I could find them, and after only a month I cannot use my sink AGAIN. I am going to try the C batteries and fingers crossed it will last more than 2 months. I will repost if it does work, Delta needs to make this known

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Touch on/off system does not work properly When we received this faucet, the box was slightly damage on one corner. When I opened the box, there was a million very little metal balls loose in the box. In fact, the hose weight (plastic) was broken and half the balls were in the box. I had to use the metal, solid weight of the existing faucet I was replacing. The installation was really easy. The instructions are very clear and the provided wrench is very useful when you are under sink in a tight location. The pressure is good. The 3-function wand is nice and the magnet to keep it in place works well. The adjustment of the water temperature is not very progressive and it can be hard to find the right temperature between hot and cold. Now, here is the bad part that justifies the only one-star rating. This faucet has a mind of its own! The touch on/off function just does not work properly. The faucet goes on and off by itself without touching anything (i did not buy the touchless version). Only the non-rotating base of the faucet seems to turn on and off the faucet. A touch anywhere else (handle or spout) does not have any effect. The faucet can be on for 20 seconds then stop by itself for 3 seconds then turn on again for ten seconds then off a minute and turn on again (this is an example but it's all random). Also when pulling the wand down more than 3-4 inches, the faucet randomly turns off and then turns back on as soon as the wand moves upward. This is so ridiculous that I have disconnected the electrovalve and use it as a standard faucet. The problem is that I paid a high price for a faucet that does not do what it is supposed to. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Delta hands free faucet just installed unit today and works great. Hand free operation is superior and very convenient. I would recommend this to any homeowner or contractor.
Date published: 2025-02-18
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Correct Installation is important. It looks good and works well, once we got the installation tweaked. It kept stopping the first few days and the plumber had to return to adjust something under the sink.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Touch faucet can be a problem I bought this "touch" faucet, but you cannot just turn it on. You must touch it for it to come to life. So what happens when the battery for the solenoid is dead: it will not turn on, If you are using the adaptor plug and power goes out, I believe it will not turn on. That's what the people at Delta told me.

Q&A

Will the faucet work if the power goes out?? Ours is hardwired and we don’t use the battery pack.

Asked by: Spud
Thank you for your question, Jill. We recommend connecting the battery pack as a backup. The faucet will not work by touch if the the power goes out and the batteries are not installed. You may use the battery box to turn the faucet on and the remove it to put it into manual mode. If you are unable to activate it by touch, you may also bypass the solenoid assembly completely by connecting the pull-out hose directly to the faucet. Best regards, Jon

What is wrong with a Delta Leland kitchen faucet with a RP50587 cartridge when you pull the handle straight down and it won't shut off? I have to push it up to the right and then pull down to cut off the water. This faucet when new has not worked right.

Asked by: Donald
Hi, Donald. Thank you for your question, and I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing a leak from your Delta faucet. We recommend to clean the bottom puck on the valve cartridge assembly and retighten the bonnet nut to stop the leak. To do this, turn the water off at your shut off valve. Remove the handle. Unscrew the bonnet nut. Pull the valve cartridge out and clean the bottom puck on the valve cartridge assembly. Reinstall the valve cartridge assembly and retighten the bonnet by turning clockwise, to the right. Install the handle back on and turn the water back on. Test the faucet. If the faucet still leaks, we recommend to replace the valve cartridge assembly, RP50587. For the last ~2 months, the lt @ the base flashed red when start/stopping the water (indicating a necessary battery change), but worked fine. After no use for a few days the faucet wouldn't work in touch or manual mode until new batteries. Is this normal?

Asked by: boilerbob
Hi, boilerbob! Thank you for your question. This is normal. Batteries would need to be changed when the red light is flashing and won't turn on manually for the Delta 9178T-SP-DST faucet. Best Regards, Rosanna

With model 9178T-AR-DST which finish, the Arctic Stainless or the Spot Shield Stainless would match better with GE profile stainless appliances?

The GE stainless has a hint of gold color in their stainless. Should we just try and match the stainless steel sink or the appliances?
Asked by: Mark
Hi Mark, Thank you for your question. Arctic Stainless features cooler metallic tones, with more blue in the color spectrum. Our SpotShield Stainless finish has a warmer tone. Best regards, Jon

is the spray handle brass or plastic

Asked by: nicholas
Hi, Nicholas! Thank you for your question. The Delta 9178T-SP-DST Faucet sprayer assembly is non-metallic. This helps prevent heat transfer that could result in scalding and reduce weight. Non-metallic parts are also beneficial in that they do not rust or corrode. Please know that all of our products are tested to ensure long-lasting use and have a Lifetime Limited Warranty. How to clean the sprayer?

We are having issues with the Leland series bathroom faucets and the aerator clogging up from our well water. You were so gracious to send the tool I was missing to remove the aerator on my 3 bathroom faucets so I can clean them out. All working like new again. So just to see the same tools works on this kitchen sink, removed and cleaned out much better water flow. My question is how do you clean out the sprayer part of the Pull Down faucet? Also on the spa tub Leland faucet the parts list does not show any way to take off the aerator to clean it, does it need a special tool like the others?
Asked by: Donna
Hi Donna, Thank you for your question. You can clean the wand by unscrewing it from the hose to check the back. You can soak the head in a 50/50 white vinegar and water solution and flush backwards through it with water. The high arc Leland Roman Tub Faucet T2775 uses the stream straightener, which takes a wrench tool, RP52593. The stream straightener on lower spout model T2778 will unscrew by hand. Best regards, Jon

third question is related to LED light. It has never changed temps. It is always red?? Thanks for your help

Asked by: Joe P
Hi, Joe P! Thank you for your question, and I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing an issue with your Delta faucet. We recommend to reset the LED light wire and battery pack. To do this, disconnect the LED light wire from the solenoid. Disconnect the battery pack. Wait a full minute. While you are waiting a full minute, you can check batteries and see if they are in good condition, even try new batteries. Make sure they're all in the correct direction and tightly secured in the battery pack. After a full minute, reconnect the LED light wire into the solenoid and then reconnect the battery pack. Wait another full minute. After the full minute, you can then check your faucet and see if the blue light works better. If this does not, please contact our Delta Customer Service line at (800)345-3358. We are available Monday-Friday, 7am-7pm, CST and Saturday, 8am-5pm, CST. We have a nickel coated sink. What color would be match?

Asked by: Steve
Hi Steve, Thank you for your question. Arctic Stainless and Stainless Steel are both brushed finishes. Over the years, the color of stainless steel used on appliances and sinks has migrated from warmer tones, with more red in the color spectrum, to lighter tones where blue is more predominant. Arctic Stainless features cooler metallic tones, following a trend seen throughout the kitchen. We recommend comparing the finishes at a store near you to determine the best match. Best regards, Jon

Can I rotate the on/off handle portion to the front to use? My backsplash is too close to rotate the hold cold lever when it's turned on.

Asked by: Nate
Hi, Nate! Thank you for your question. The minimum clearance to back splash for the Delta 9178T-RB-DST is 2 1/2" (64 mm). We recommend installing this faucet with the handle on the right. You may install it with the handle on the front, but the temperature adjustment will be opposite of the standard operation for single handle faucets. You could compensate for this by swapping the hot and cold supply lines under the sink. However, the red/blue button on the handle will no longer indicate the correct temperature.
