I bought this kitchen faucet in 2013--thirteen years ago--and it performed well until two days ago, when I felt water on my foot while using the sprayer. The sprayer hose cracked in a few places near the diverter valve where the hose bends the most when used, and it did an impressive job of spraying everything in the cabinet below the sink when it finally let go. There was enough water coming out of the split hose that it ran out of the cabinet and onto my foot to let me know it failed. I called Delta, and they are sending me a new diverter/sprayer hose for free since the failure falls under their lifetime warranty. I probably use the sprayer an average of a few times a week, to give you some perspective on the longevity of the hose. From what I've seen in other reviews of this faucet, the diverter/sprayer hose is a common point of failure. The important take-home that prompted me to write this review is that the faucet comes with a "diverter plug" installed in the fitting for the diverter/sprayer hose, so there is the option of using the faucet either with or without the sprayer hose. The installation instructions I received told me to discard the diverter plug if I was installing the sprayer hose. Don't discard the diverter plug! Saving the diverter plug and installing it after the diverter/sprayer hose failed allowed me to continue using the faucet without the sprayer. It made the difference between having no running water in the kitchen while I wait for the parts from Delta to arrive, and having running water in the kitchen. Do I wish the sprayer hose had lasted longer than 13 years? Of course, but since the diverter plug saves me from going without water in the kitchen while I wait for the free replacement from Delta, I'm okay with it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not was it once was. Have used this faucet for decades but the recent one purchased on12-30-25 has been a disappointment. The sprayer will not cut off half the time. Luckily I had not thrown away the old ragged looking one and I'm currently using it. Apparently the sprayer relies on water pressure to help shut it off. If any water is being used anywhere in the house the sprayer will not shut off properly!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looking good! Easy to install ( it took fore time taking out the old one ) and operate; a little less flow, but that I believe is the new standard. I even looks better than the old Danze thing that I was about to repair for the fourth time in 3 years. Using a pex style install was new to me as well, but it's easier than copper.

I have a 400-dst-l, with spray. When I turn it on, I get a water hammer shock. Happens with either hot or cold. And only when faucet not used for 30 mins or more. Suggestions?

What would cause water to stop flowing when using the spray hose? Water stops totally, no flow from spray hose or spout (when spray trigger is released). It takes a few seconds before water starts to flow again. Will changing the cartridge correct this?

Hi Scotty, Thanks so much for contacting Delta Faucet Company! It is possible that a flush could resolve this issue with the CLASSIC Kitchen Faucet MODEL#: 400-DST. To flush the supply line, first shut off the hot and cold-water supply. Remove the hot supply line from the shut-off valve and place the line into a bucket. Open the handle to the fully open middle position, and then turn the cold supply back on for one minute. The cold water should flow through the faucet and out the hot supply tube. How do I remove the Diverter Clip RP53997 to unattach the spray hose connection (RP10345)? Will removing the Diverter Clip destroy it requiring a new Diverter Clip?

I am sorry this information was not readily available, and I am happy to help! Pull diverter clip outward until loose; but, do not completely remove. Remove the diverter cap or hose nipple from the diverter. Keeping the diverter clip pulled out, insert spray hose nipple into the diverter. Make sure the hose nipple is completely inserted and then push the diverter clip in until it locks the hose nipple into place. Pull down moderately to ensure the connection has been made.
