Rated 4 out of 5 by from Replacement Replaced same model that was 16 years old. Noticed some changes. Water comes out noisier. Replaced braided stainless steel hose with a rubber one. I hope it holds up as well as the previous one. The brushed nickel finish looks almost like stainless steel.

I have the Delta Leland touch faucet 9178 TAR DST. Can it still work when the batteries go dead

Hi LID, Thank you for your question! The light will flash red when the batteries are low. You can remove the batteries while the water is running to switch to manual mode. You can also turn the faucet off with the handle, disconnect the solenoid, and connect the hose directly to the faucet to bypass the solenoid. Best regards, Jon

Is this model the exact same where ever it is purchased?

My plumber installed this model 9178-Chrome-DST and charged me $769 for the faucet set, soap dispenser, and installation. When I told him the set was $200 on Amazon with free Prime shipping and so I thought the additional $569 was a bit high for installation his reply was that the quality of his Delta faucet was much better than what I could buy online, because he is a plumber. Is this true? Isn't a Model 9178 Chrome DST the same wherever it is bought??

All Delta faucets feature the same quality parts, materials, and workmanship, no matter what kind of dealer sells them. Delta retail dealers usually sell faucets that include the handles in the boxes. Plumbing professionals and Delta Studio Showrooms sell faucets where the faucets and handles are packaged and sold separately ("LHP" models), giving the customer some additional styling choices. Does the spray/stream revert to a default setting when the water is turned off?

Hi Kneeley, Thank you for your question! The button on the spray wand for the model 9178-DST will stay diverted to the mode it was set at by the customer. It will not switch to a default when turned off. Best regards, Brandis

Stainless steel vs arctic finish

We have 2 year old whirlpool appliances and will be installing a countertop with Solera SR305 sink under counter mount stainless steel sink. Your opinion please on the arctic or stainless steel finish for delta leader faucet 19978 or 9178 This is a one shot deal so I need to get it right. Thanks

Hi Diane, Thank you for your question. There is a slight difference between the Delta Faucet Stainless Steel finish and the Delta Faucet Artic Stainless finish. Stainless Steel has a gold tone to it and is mostly used in the bath. Artic Stainless has a blue tint to it and more closely matches stainless steel appliances out in the market today. It is only used in the kitchen. Thanks, Dave

We’ve had our 9178-DST for 5 months & constantly have water puddles from our hands on our Quartz countertop. Constantly drying around the faucet. Can we move this so the handle is in the front instead of the right side and has anyone else done this.

Thank you for your question, Shari! This Delta model can be installed with the handle in front if desired. You will simply need a helper to hold the faucet in place while you loosen the mounting nut below the counter just enough to reposition the faucet. The aerator RP53998 is not meant for the new Spotshield wand that now comes with this model.
